I’m so glad I started this series! I’m going to have a lot of fun reading them all. Great mystery with a side of fun and romance.

I do not know why I waited so long to read this book.

I really enjoyed this romantic suspense with a few humorous moments. Holly Anna was an interesting character and though I found myself a bit frustrated a few times because I felt so she should have been upfront with Chase, I enjoyed following the clues and murders to the reveal of the murderer.

I am looking forward to more future Holly Anna and Chase adventures.

I have to admit, I normally hate reading books in first person. If you don't like the person, then it leaves you suffering through their viewpoint for the entire book. I also find that when an author uses first person in several books, the main characters all start to sound the same. Plus, I think it's hard to develop the other main characters, with 3rd person. That said, Barritt has found a way to do that and much more. Her characters are all deeply developed, and likable, and Gabby and Holly are unique and different in their own wonderful ways. The romance isn't overly mushy, and I love how strong her female characters are - not just in this book, but in all of them! This book had me from the first page to the last - which I finally finished at 4:00 am! - I love how her books all have great endings - and this one does NOT disappoint...wow!! - but still leave me wanting more!

Really, the only thing negative I can say about this book, is that I would've loved to have seen God more. I know that is hard for authors to do, as it limits the reader audience. I am hoping though, to see more of the spiritual journey of our main characters, in later books. That said, I think this book would be appropriate for anyone - regardless of your religious beliefs. It's clean with out being stuffy, or preachy.

Buy this book - or any book written by Christy Barritt - it won't disappoint!!! (and, as s side note, I for one am thrilled with the prices of Christy Barrett's books. They are all - but one, I think? - under $4.00. Which is good, considering that I have bought and read them all.)

Love this new beginning book to the Holly Anna Paladin character’s series. Holly was given one year to live. Instead of feeling sorry for herself, she decides to make the best of it and decides to do a random act of kindness. She never intended her act of kindness to make her a prime suspect in a murder. Someone is trying to frame her, and she sets out on a journey to find out who that someone is.
I love the romantic murder mysteries written by Christy Barritt. They are clean and are a quick read. I have been reading murder mysteries for quite some time now and got tired of the terrible language and explicit sexual scenarios. I began my search for a Christian author that writes clean murder mysteries. When I found Christy’s books, I was ecstatic. I can now read the type of books that I love from cover to cover without all the junk.
I have been reading all of the Squeaky Clean Murder Mysteries and love the character Gabby in that series. Holly Anna Paladin is a spin off from the Squeaky Clean series. This new series is just as fun and exciting to read.
I have enjoyed every book written by Christy so far. I highly recommend all of Christy’s books and this one is no exception. I am looking forward to the next book in this new series. Holly Anna Paladin is a character that we can all love. This book will keep you guessing up until the very end.

Random Acts of Murder was SO good! Right from the very beginning I was hooked! Holly Paladin has been told she only has a year to live. She decides to make the best of the situation and perform as many random acts of kindness as she can. It backfires, though, when she discovers a dead body at the house of one of her acts of kindness. Before she's wrongly accused of the crime, she decides to figure out the killer herself.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this book. I was afraid it was gonna be a bit of a downer since the main character is sick and only has a year to live. But I had no need to worry, this is a Christy Barritt book after all. It featured her trademark humor, edge of your seat suspense, and heartfelt moments. I instantly liked Holly. Her optimism in the face of her diagnosis and circumstances was so admirable. The mystery was multi-layered and kept me guessing. I'm excited to find out what mysteries await in the next book, Random Acts of Deceit. Highly recommend!

Christy Barritt’s “Random Acts of Murder” introduces readers to Holly Anna Paladin who has been diagnosed with terminal cancer and given a year to live. To make her last year count, Holly undertakes extreme acts of kindness—including breaking into a client’s house while she’s gone and cleaning it.
Illegal breaking and entering might be forgiven in view of the good deed—except for the body in the bathroom. Holly flees the crime scene and must keep the discovery of the murder a secret or spend the rest of her life in jail. But at least one cop is suspicious and if she is arrested—it will sink her brother’s election for state senate.
The plot tangles like jumbled electrical cords when high school nemesis Chase Dexter shows up and saves her from a drive-by shooting.
A one-year death sentence, stress over her brother’s campaign, realizing that she will die without ever experiencing love—and someone attempting to kill her. What else could go wrong—because it probably will.
The author’s sister-in-law Ann Barritt was diagnosed with cancer and given a year to live. She asked everyone who loved her to do one random act of kindness in her name. Touchingly, Christy Barritt wrote “Random Acts of Murder” and dedicated it to her sister-in-law.

Holly Paladin has recently discovered she has a rare form of cancer, and has been given a year to live. Instead of dwelling on her disease, she decides to “commit random acts of kindness,” volunteer wherever and whenever she can, be a supportive friend and family member, and avoid the calls from her oncologist.

However, in usual Holly Anna style, she immediately gets herself into deep trouble. If the authorities find out where she’s been, she could be implicated with murder and obstruction of justice, to say nothing of ruining her brother’s chances for the senatorial race, and her sister’s upcoming wedding. With all this in mind, she certainly can’t tell them about her cancer.

Holly and her friend Jamie manage to hide their involvement, but when her high school nemesis shows up in town—as a police officer—the stakes go up. If only Chase Dexter weren’t so handsome now, and so nice.

Holly and Chase’s investigations lead them from suspecting friends and associates to street kids and even the other senatorial candidate.

I listened to this book on audio, although I also have the ebook, and I couldn’t put it down. Holly’s wild antics, her loveable if flawed reasoning, and her 1960s femininity, combine to give this book flair and fun. I’ll definitely be looking out for more in this series from Christy Barritt.

4.0 out of 5 stars A clean, riveting mystery!

This book by Christy Barritt could be recommended to any young girl or guy and could be easily read by high schoolers for school projects or essay work. It is clean, very well-written grammatically and is riveting as the main character Holly tries to keep BIG secrets in her life, while she is also helping out the local police to solve unusual murders of young men in her community. Although the work is probably meant for an older reading group, it's plot is more like a Nancy Drew or a Hardy Boys mystery with police tactics and investigative methods sounding more like the mid-1900's rather than today. I found myself questioning Holly's actions and definitely felt that her thought patterns were more like a 14-15 year old rather than someone in their late 20's; having said that, it was a delightful story and I enjoyed reading it. It was my first read of a Christy Barritt fiction and I will read more in the future.
