In addition, it offers creative insights from a rabbi and scholar to help make the prayers relevant to people today. - Reviewed in the United States on March 9, 2015As observant Jews, we pray when we awaken, we pray when we eat, we pray when we celebrate and we pray when we are suffering or hurt. Tzvee Zahavy’s insightful commentaries on the siddur analyze the various facets of prayer and infuse meaning into the sometimes rote or rushed prayer experience. His reflections on kaddish, for instance, can be helpful during the difficult year of mourning. His discussions on the mundane everyday prayers, especially the brachot/blessings, help imbue them with value and meaning. This book is a deep and thoughtful new spin on our ancient supplications.
