Geisler, dean of Southern Evangelical Seminary and Bible College, and author of more than 70 books dealing with the Bible and Christianity, gathers decades of findings of New Testament scholars into a truly accessible and readable overview, aimed at readers at all levels. Norman L. Geisler (PhD, Loyola University) taught theology, philosophy, and apologetics on the college or graduate level for over 50 years. He served as a professor at Trinity Evangelical Seminary, Dallas Theological Seminary, and Liberty University. He was the co-founder of both Southern Evangelical Seminary and Veritas Evangelical Seminary (now Veritas International University). He was the Chancellor of Veritas International University and Distinguished Professor of Apologetics, and was President Emeritus of Southern Evangelical Seminary and Distinguished Senior Professor of Theology and Apologetics.

He is the author/coauthor of more than 100 books including I Don't Have Enough Faith to be an Atheist, Twelve Points that Show Christianity is True, The Big Book of Apologetics, Baker's Encyclopedia of Apologetics, When Skeptics Ask, When Critics Ask, From God to Us, A History of Western Philosophy, Defending Inerrancy, Systematic Theology, If God Why Evil, Philosophy of Religion, Christian Apologetics, and Biblical Inerrancy.

I had never envisioned the New Testament in the way that Dr. Geisler does. I understood that it was about Christ's life on earth and of his ministry, and teachings but so much more has been revealed through this study. The book gives a firm historic foundation as well as interpretation of scriptures which are insightful as well as intriguing. If you want to know more about the New Testament Scriptures, Jesus'life, mission, and where we fit in all this, please read this book and follow along with the bible readings. It will be a true eye opener for you, and I hope a life changing event as well.

This is great book for those of us who know nothing or very little about the New Testament. It's a brief summary of all the books of the New Testament to give you a good background and main points of each book. From there you can go on to deeper reading. I love this author's work. I bought it used for very little money, but gained a wealth of knowledge.

What i like about Geisler's Survey is that it gets straight to adding value to a sincere Bible study. The pattern for each book is pretty much structured: Context (Who wrote it, When was it written, To Whom, Where were the readers located), The Key Ideas (Why was it written, What is it about) and How to respond to Critics (a series of popular questions about key parts of the book that attract critical questions from others).

If you're looking for a book that goes verse by verse in its commentary, then this isn't it. The great thing about this book is that it really helps you see the overall picture and then points you to sections of the Bible that will allow deeper study.

It facilitates, it does not spoon-feed!

Overall great purchase for me. Its very early days to provide a deeper insight into how the book has helped me, hence the rating of 4 is a cautious one rather than reflecting the quality of the book.
