4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 1,969 ratings

Five years ago, Aegis Security op manager Marley Addison’s lover died in a South American raid gone horribly wrong…or so she thought. When she receives a phone call telling her that he is still very much alive and in danger, she vows to bring him home safely, even if Aegis CEO and former Navy SEAL Jake Ryder has kept her out of the field for the last few years. Then Jake shows up in Colombia to help her, leaving Marley annoyed…and more than a little distracted by her alarmingly handsome boss.

As things between Marley and Jake heat up in the wilderness, they discover their rescue mission is filled with treachery. Now the domineering Jake has to rely on Marley for survival. But can she depend on him when their mission takes a shocking and deadly turn?

Fatal Pursuit is the pulse-pounding third book in Elisabeth Naughton’s scorching Aegis series.

Before topping multiple bestseller lists—including those of the New York Times, USA Today, and the Wall Street Journal—award winning author Elisabeth Naughton taught middle school science. A voracious reader, she soon discovered she had a knack for creating stories with a chemistry of their own. The spark turned into a flame, and Elisabeth now writes full-time.

Though primarily known for her romantic suspense work, Elisabeth has penned over thirty novels and continues to write in multiple genres, including paranormal romance and contemporary romance. Her books have been translated into numerous languages and have earned several award nominations, including three prestigious RITA® nominations from Romance Writers of America. In 2017, REPRESSED, the first book in her Deadly Secrets series, won the RITA® for best romantic suspense.

Elisabeth's work has been praised by the Chicago Tribune as being filled with "deadly intrigue, high adrenaline action, and scorchingly hot passion.” Kirkus calls her "a writer talented enough at weaving a yarn to get her readers ensnared in it.” When not dreaming up new stories, Elisabeth can be found spending time with her husband and three children in their western Oregon home, wrangling two cats, or chasing after one very rambunctious Dalmatian.

4.5 Stars for Jungle Love--It's driving me mad! Making me CRAZY!

I’m a big fan of this series by Elizabeth Naughton! This is the third book in the series centered on the Aegis Security team. I have been waiting to see how the tension between owner Jake Ryder and his assistant Marley Addison was going to pan out. I am so happy the author decided to indulge us early in the series and get that itch taken care of!

Marley was raised in the security business, traveling the world with her father. She knows the ins and outs of setting up an op and making sure all the bases are covered. What she really misses is being in the field to experience the action first hand. She had a falling out with her father 5 years ago when her boyfriend was killed in action in South America. She eventually wandered over to Aegis. Her new boss is not appreciative of her skills in the field. He wants to keep her safe and running things at the home office. I liked Marley’s feisty spirit from the first book. She runs a tight ship. It seems as if she goes off half-cocked, but she does have a plan that included some muscle for back-up.

Jake, however, is an overbearing, sexy as hell, alpha male. He is REALLY not pleased that Marley put herself in danger! I liked that we got to see a bit of his vulnerability and that inner dialogue that battled his true feelings toward Marley. Best part of the book was the time they spent in the jungle. Sharp wit and humorous action. Oh and that ayahuasca—those meddling natives—made for some steamy, hot sexy times! LOVED it!

Through lots of twists and turns, Jake finally gets his head in the right place. He enjoyed the jungle adventure too as he tells Marley:

“All I want….the only thing I need, is to make you as happy as you were that night in the jungle when you danced around the fire for me.”

Awe…puddle of mush right there! I am sure we will see the overbearing, bossy Jake in future books-that’s how he runs a tight ship with his team at Aegis. But, it’s nice to know Marley gets the soft, sexy side. So happy these two ended up together! Loved seeing the rest of the Aegis gang again. Very much looking forward to the next book. I’d kind of like to see Marley’s brother get his HEA.

I really enjoyed reading this story. This author is one of my faves. It just the right amount of suspense although only two scenes of lovemaking. A good read for a lazy Sunday afternoon.

Elisabeth Naughton is one of my favorite authors because she is a fantastic writer. Her plots are all well-thought out with lots of action and romance that fit wonderfully together. In this book there seems to be a lot of misunderstandings and miscommunication, but it is still hard to put down.

The heroine, Marley Addison is an independent woman who grew up with her father who owns a group like the Aegis book. He always took her with him where ever she went no matter out on fielwork. At the moment she is the assistant for Jake Riley, the owner of Aegis. She would like to go with him and people when they go work on a job but he refuses.

However, when Marley's ex-boyfriend calls from Columbia and asks her to help him. Marley thought he was dead. She plans to go on her own. But Jake ends up in Columbia and Marley is angry with him and does't want him there. But things heat up as danger follows them around COlumbia.

This is a romantic suspense so not only does the romance get hot but so does the danger. Jake is a bossy man who is nice to nobody. But I love when Marley sasses him back which she does for most of the book.

This is the latest book in Naughton's Aegis series, but it can very easily be a stand-alone with no problem. However, I would highly suggest you read the other stories because they are all interesting romantic adventures with lots of action. I hope there will be more books in this series because I love everyone of them.

This is the third book in The Aegis Series that I have read so I knew a bit about the tension between Jake and Marley. This book was all about their relationship and it couldn't have been better. I knew their story wouldn't be the sweet hearts and flowers kind. Jake is basically a stubborn jerk who doesn't really like anyone. He can't see the good in himself and long ago decided he would never fall in love. Enter Marley, who as his assistant has had enough of his surly attitude and his lack of respect for her, so she leaves. And boy does she leave, straight to Columbia to rescue an ex boyfriend whom she thought was dead. Jake is furious and of course follows her because she can't possibly take care of herself. What follows is a great story with lots of action, danger and angst. But there is also romance, steamy sex and even a bit of humor. But how can two people who are so wrong for each other fall in love? I suggest you read this great addition to the Aegis Series and find out. Oh, the jungle village scenes were worth the price of the book alone. Five stars for Fatal Pursuit!

The chemistry between Marley and Jake was great. Ms. Naughton captured their emotional chemistry as well as their physical chemistry. And, the writing was solid, tight, with good dialogue and good pacing. The mystery was never left dangling too far behind but...

I felt there was too much inner conflict for each protagonist. Will he, won't she, could I, could he...? It was endless and annoying. There were times I felt my frustration mount because they could have had a couple of adult conversations and resolved a lot of their unnecessary angst.

There were also a lot of times Ms. Naughton could have capitalized on a character's strength, but let it slide by the wayside. For example, Marley's ability in the forest, her independence and survival skills. Imagine how much more could have occurred if that part of Marley had been expanded.

Still, overall, a good read. Her best book, so far, in my opinion, is still Wait For Me.

Wow! Passion, action, longing....this book had it all! Ms. Naughton's writing is amazing! If I could give it more than 5 stars, I would! I have been waiting for Jake and Marley's story from the very first Aegis Security novella.. and all that waiting has definitely paid off. This is fantastic addition to a great series. If you have never read one of her books, I strongly urge you to change that!
