She's chasing dreams.

Olivia, a café owner and cook, never regretted forsaking her dreams to finish raising her sisters after the death of their parents. Now grown, they've moved out of the house, leaving Olivia free to pick up where she left off, if she can find the courage to start over.

He's hunting nightmares.

Mason is a Boston police detective, recuperating from a tragic incident that left his partner dead. All he wants is to heal and get back to the job of hunting the killer down. The last thing on his mind is romance.

Finding love wasn't in either of their plans.

But as things heat up between Olivia and Mason, events happen that make her realize she's drawn a far more sinister kind of attention. Suddenly, she finds herself fighting not only for her dreams, but her very life!

Growing up, Satin was an avid reader who wanted to be either an English teacher, librarian, or author. So, of course, she became a financial advisor.

Years later, she realized that life was short, and decided to follow her dream. Now, she’s published three books in her romantic suspense trilogy called The Harper Sisters.

Satin lives in Massachusetts and is married to the love of her life, a man who literally flew halfway around the world for her.

Other than writing, she loves reading, supporting fellow authors (especially self-published ones,) traveling, and photography. She’s also partial to a good whiskey every now and then.

Loved every page of it!
It's been quite some time since I've read anything other than children's books, having a six-year-old at home...Secret Hunger was an amazing read to get back into adult fiction! The mystery and danger interwoven with romance kept me turning page after page - I didn't want to put it down! I've been holding off on starting Secret Need so as not to get ahead of my book club...looking forward to reading it soon though!

This is a wonderful suspenseful romance. Olivia and Mason are strong characters and you really want them to get their HEA. Ms. Russell did a great job making Robert (the villian) a real sicko! The story takes place in Bath, Maine where Olivia owns and operates a cafe. Mason comes into town to visit his sister and recuperate and instantly falls for Olivia. She doesn't have time to fall in love--her business comes first, until she realizes she can't fight her feelings for Mason. Throughout the book, Olivia is mentally and emotionally tortured by Robert and Mason is a wonderful, sexy hero who is there for her despite his own painful past. Olivia is a fighter and won't give up, although there are a few moments where you can feel her wanting to just give in, but she pushes on. I also enjoyed getting to know her two sisters who add to the plot, but don't overtake the story. I look forward to reading their stories in the near future. I'm also hoping that Mason's sister will get a story of her own as well. The sex scenes are steamy, so beware, but they really do show great chemistry between Olivia and Mason.

Let me preface this by saying; this is the first time I have read a book by Satin Russell, but I love her easy style of descriptive writing. While I do think there are places where this could be tailored back, overall, she does an amazing job of crafting a well-developed plot, and creating believable characters that suck you in. I loved the nail-biting suspense, and I adapted to the omniscient point of view which at first was a little jarring, but allowed us to see inside the minds of each character bringing us to a satisfying conclusion. I will be dipping into book 2 for sure.

I was wonderfully pleased with this author's first novel Secret Hunger and I am looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

Secret Hunger by Satin Russell is well written and reads very smoothly and once I started reading I could not put it down, reading well into to the night. The prologue grab my attention and I needed to keep reading to find out what happened to Mason.

In this first book, Satin Russell sets the stage with well-developed descriptions that lets you `smell the coffee and taste the bacon.' Satin Russell tells a strong story of Olivia, the oldest of three sisters, and presents her as a thoughtful and intelligent female character. Olivia has established her life, created a successful business and helped her two younger sisters into adulthood. The meeting and interaction between Olivia and Mason was powerful and you can feel the chemistry between the two of them from the very beginning. With the intrusion of Robert, the stage is set for a very interesting dramatic story.

Secret Hunger took me into a great story. It was fast passed, interesting, and suspenseful. I completely enjoyed Olivia and Mason's story and I can wait to read more from this new author.

Secret Hunger is set in a small east coast town where the main character Olivia has made her way in life running her own cafe while helping to raise her two younger sisters after their parents death. In comes a hot cop with a haunted look in his eyes at the same time that a very creepy bad guy has come into town. Things get crazy. Romance and terror ensue. I enjoyed the cozy setting and the cast characters all the way through but somewhere around the halfway point the book grabbed me and I couldn't put it down. I don't usually read romance but the plot drove things along so well that it didn't bother me. (It does get quite steamy in a few parts.) The book is set in the winter but I thought it was a great summer read!

The stalker sure had access to a lot of sources to cause harm even tho he was on the run in a stolen car and staying in a flea infested motel with limited funds. The romance pleasantly leveled out the unbelievable parts.

I was really surprised to find that this was the author's first novel. It was extremely well written. The plot flowed nicely, the characters were interesting. My only negative comment: too much detail to food and décor. The main character, Olivia (whom I really liked) is a chef and there is much emphasis on food and cooking. I would often stop reading & go and prepare myself a snack. However, this is insignificant. I would highly recommend this book & look forward to reading the next book about the Harper sisters.

This is a awesome read, first time reading this author and I have to say this story did not disappoint, the plot, suspense, humor, family, friendship, forgiveness, and most of all finding and falling in love. Again this story captured me from the beginning and held until the very end, this is a very well written awesome beginning for a romance series filled with suspense and intrigue you will not be disappointed. I can't wait to get to book two in this small town of Bath Maine.

A fun, enjoyable read. More romance than suspense. A couple parts were pretty steamy and made me blush reading it at work or on the bus. I don't typically read romantic novels, so that could also be a factor. Although I felt sometimes the story was predictable, I did feel the suspense and thrill reading through the different characters eyes. I like that it followed the antagonist just a bit to give some needed perspective and background.

Great book! A few editing errors early on, but not enough to ruin the book. It’s tense and interesting. I thoroughly enjoyed it!
