Fairy-Struck (The Twilight Court Book 1) Kindle Edition
I met him at the end of my sword.
Not the most romantic of introductions but it suited us. We're both warriors; he's a lord of the Wild Hunt of Fairy, and I'm an extinguisher—a psychic soldier trained from birth to protect our world from his kind. Attraction arced between us like lightning. I saw it in his eyes, watched them shift from frigid silver to molten metal. Despite all of that, I knew it could go nowhere. Fairies killed my mother and her death nearly destroyed my father. Then there's the fact that extinguishers don't date outside our society. A human would be bad enough, but a fairy? That's not just frowned upon, it's forbidden. We cannot be together. It's impossible. And that's fine. I've got bigger things to worry about. Like my new charge: a dryad who just informed us of a fairy plot to exterminate the human race. I'll focus on her and ignore the wild thrumming of my blood every time I look at him. I'm a professional; I can handle one arrogant, annoying, stubborn, dangerously sexy fairy hunter who won't stop staring at me as if I'm already his. I'm not one of his delicate, Fey ladies, longing to swoon into his arms. I carry an iron sword and iron is poison to Fairies. If he gets too close, he'll be the one swooning.
The Twilight Court is a slow-build Reverse Harem, Urban, Paranormal, Fantasy Series full of Fairies, psychic warriors, witches, and shapeshifters!

Their love is illegal.
“Because I'm not an extinguisher?” He whispered, his striking eyes shining in the dark like a cat's.
“Even worse,” I said dryly, “you're a fairy, and even worse than that, you're a member of the Wild Hunt. This would be fraternization of the worst kind. There is literally no one who would be a more horrible match for me.”
“That's your father talking.” Tiernan angled his head as he studied me. “I don't think you believe that.”
I swallowed hard before I answered. Tiernan was right, I didn't believe it, and in that moment, I wanted nothing more than to close the distance between us and find out what he tasted like. I bet it was something rich and complex, like expensive red wine... and just as intoxicating.
An undeniable attraction.
“What exactly about this conversation makes you think that I'll be sleeping with you tonight?” I gaped at him.
“It's not your words.” Tiernan's breath was coming faster, and I was shocked to find my own quickening to pace his. His hand drifted over to where mine rested on my thigh and his fingers grazed the top of mine. A shivering sensation spread up from his touch, making my hand twitch. I swallowed roughly as his fingers snaked around mine to rub at the sensitive skin of my palm.
“What then?” My voice was just a breath of sound.
“It's your eyes.” His deep timbre vibrated through me, tightening my thighs and shifting our joined hands. He inhaled sharply before he continued. “It's the way they stray over my body. And your lips, how they shiver just a little when I speak. It's the way your breasts are rising with your rapid breaths and the way your hands are shaking with the need to touch me. You want me, and I want you. Very badly. It's simple.”
The Wild Hunt has her.
“I'm a trained interrogator.” I pushed him over and straddled his waist. His eyes went wide as he stared up at me. “I have ways of making you talk.”
I reached between us and slid him inside me, shivering through the amazing sensation of connecting to him so intimately. I splayed my hands on his chest, feeling his heart beating steady and strong beneath my fingers as I started to move.
“You forget who you're with.” Tiernan grabbed me around the waist, holding me tightly against him, and rolled us so I was beneath him again. With a wicked smile, he pulled his hips back and then drove himself in deep. “I'm a Lord of the Wild Hunt, and I have ways of making you scream.”

- Reviewed in the United States on September 23, 2017Sep 14, 2017 Barbara Senteney rated it it was amazing
I love Fairy stories, this one was exceptional. Seren and her father Ewan are Extinguishers, a sort of bounty hunter, they hunt and extinguish fey who have committed crimes against fae or human kind. Ewan does it to avenge his wife who was long ago killed by puka's, a form of Fey. So now Ewan hates all being of fae genealogy. He has also taught his daughter to hate an exterminate fae beings. They are part of a council made to keep the peace between fae and human kind.
But as luck would have it, his daughter turns out to be the long lost Twilight Princess.
Her Fey father is King Kier is the head of The Twilight Realm, his brother King Uisdean is the head of The Unseelie Faeries, and a very bad being of dark fairy genealogy. The third and final Fairy realm is The Seelie Court, the beings of light.
Seren will soon find out that Fairies are just like humans in some ways, there is light and dark in all of us, and just because you were born of light doesn't mean you are good, or do good deeds. Just as being born of the dark doesn't mean you have to be evil, tho many are.
This story was filled with adventure. It also had it's romantic side, with sweet gentle love, not raunchy we need you to read so we added sex. I find that refreshing. If a story cannot stand on it's own without the lust and explicit sex I have little interest in it. I want a good story, and Fairy Struck is a great adventure, with magic, love, and devoted people who stand up for their convictions. I love this story and highly recommend it, if you love fairy stories, pick this up, I enjoyed it very much. (less)
- Reviewed in the United States on August 10, 2019The story was an interesting one. I like Seren. She's funny and sharp witted. Too many details tho. I get the gist and skim through when it gets too winded. There's a lot going on in the story and the characters are always on the move. Good and bad. Good that it kept the story moving bad more characters I can't pronounce and details to try to remember. The love scene between Seren and Lord of the Wild Hunt is far too short and under detailed. She slipped it in. Yay! End scene. Left me with lady blue balls. Whole story ended nice. The book ends with 3 chapters from 4 other books from the author. Don't know if I'll continue with the series. I believe it's 9 books of complicated story plot . So still up in the air.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 1, 2020I was wrong. I thought the author had ruined the book. She made a couple snide remarks (at least that is how I perceived them) regarding Jesus, God and Christianity. However, I overlooked them thinking that I misunderstood the tone or took it out of context. Yet, when the author compares Danu to Anu (Christian God), and states Danu answers prayers but God does not - the paragraph continues (particularly about her mother's death) and more or less states that the Christian God is worthless but Danu is not. I was not happy and was about to quit the series because I was highly offended. Yet, I proceeded to read the next book and determined I would return the book to KU if it happened again. However, the author redeemed later in the series by having Anu visit Seren and he told her that he was there and listened to her prayers and then Seren was able to feel Anu's love. So, I am glad I continued on, but I do think the writing in the first book could be adjusted so that it is not so offensive because if I did not give the benefit of the doubt, I would just have believed this author was against christianity.
Although this is a reverse harem, the love scenes are not what you usually anticipate. So if you are hoping for some descriptive fantasy, you will be disappointed. However, if you are looking for love scenes that leave you to your imagination, you will, for the most part, be happy. There is more to the series than the love scenes. The love scenes just add spice and are not the entirety of the series.
I loved the characters, the unique twist in the fae world with a new kingdom (twilight) instead of just the seelie and unseelie. The world the author built has so many options to explore and expand. There will be several times in the next couple of installments where you will want to smack the author upside the head because of having Seren in a reverse harem, giving characters personality changes and so forth. However, if you hold on and continue the series, you will see that there is a reason for the authors madness. So keep reading, if you are like me, by the end of the series though will have enjoyed the ride and will be sad to say goodbye to the characters.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 18, 2020I thought I had already written a review for this series but in some ways it worked out better to review after I've read this series at least a few times. It's that good! It's funny, well written, insightful, fully fleshed out with incredible world and story building. I love the characters, their interactions, everything. Seriously, everything. There are a few small editing issues, nothing that detracts from the story so not deducting points for that. Especially not for a story that had me laughing out loud multiple times. Seriously, if you haven't read this book, you need to. Like yesterday.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Twilight Princess.
Seren Sloane is an Extinguisher. She is the descendant of one of five magical families that were involved with drawing up the truce that has kept the peace between Fairy and Humans since the last war. As such she scores high in psychic powers. She is also one of the few humans who know that Fairies are real! The job of the Extinguishers is to police the Fey presence on earth. Kind of like a police force. If a Fey visits earth and commits a crime it is up to Seren and her colleagues, to catch them and punish them if necessary. Their equivalent in Fairy is the Wild Hunt who punish humans for breaking the truce.
Seren lives with her father Ewan in Hawaii. They have basically been exiled for over zealous performance of their duties after Seren’s mother was killed by Pukas sent by the Unseelie. But this exile is disrupted when Seren is lured into Fairy after receiving an order of extinction from the Fairy Council for a sylph accused of murdering a royal. Once there she is struck down in agony as Fairy magic that has lain dormant in her becomes active. She then discovers that she is not a Sloane at all but the daughter of the Fey King of Twilight!
She meets her father, Keir, King of the Twilight Seelie, for the first time and has trouble accepting the truth of her birth. Unfortunately she also meets her uncle Uisdean, the King of the Unseelie! She learns that her magic combined with her psychic powers make her stronger than usual. It also means that there are many beings out to kill her!
How Seren finds her place in Fairy, how her human father reacts to the truth of her birth and how all of Fairy reacts to the new Twilight Princess makes for a non stop, action packed story.
The author has an excellent knowledge of the different beings that make up the Fey and also has a great talent for story telling. Altogether a very gripping tale and I look forward to the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good debut!
This book has a lot of good world-building, imaginative and fantastic adventures with a decent cast of characters. Seren Sloane is the Extinguisher whose main job is keeping peace and enforces the rule between fairy, supernatural world within the human society. In her latest job, she is pursued by some creepy monsters and has no idea why until she is forced to cross over the Fairy world when her real identity is revealed.
Like another reviewer already mentioned, the writing style is a reminiscence of Laurel K Hamilton in her heyday.

5.0 out of 5 stars Spannend und witzig
