4.8 4.8 out of 5 stars 6 ratings

To undo a mistake made a thousand years in the past, the wizard Hellsfire used his magic to bring down the Great Barrier that once divided the northern and southern lands. In doing so, he nearly brought war to his own homeland, and he afflicted the love of his life, Princess Krystal of Alexandria, with a potent and deadly curse.

Since then, Hellsfire has been working in Tyree with its Elemental Council, to rebuild its war-torn land and find a way to break Krystal’s curse. Now Krystal’s time is running out. As the princess fights for her life, Hellsfire learns that the wizard responsible for the curse—his old enemy Premier—is heading to the Burning Sands to steal the mysterious Jewel of Dakara.

If Hellsfire can capture Premier and learn the secret of the curse, he can save Krystal. But the Jewel of Dakara holds its own deadly secrets, and the hunt will take Hellsfire farther than he ever imagined, and cost him more than he bargained for.

Marc Johnson has moved a lot since his parents divorced when he was two. He also can't answer a straight question and has developed a taste for sarcastic wit over the years. Probably also for the same reason.

He hasn't won any awards, but he does have a deep knowledge of Transformers, Star Trek, and The Twilight Zone--his top three geeky loves. He writes because he loves stories and hopes to one day have written something successful as a movie, TV show, comic, book, magazine, and play.

Marc Johnson also loves to game, whether it be video, card, or board. He loves to test his mind in the challenges they bring...until the zombie, alien, or robot apocalypse comes.

Top reviews from the United States

The series has had a bit of a face lift with BEAUTIFUL covers. I love all the covers but I wish I could have the kindle covers on physical books. They blew my mind.

This is a tough review to write. I am having a HUGE book hang over combined with a case of the feels.
The only real words coming in my brain right now consists of "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO" and "WHYYYYYYY?!"
Everything else is heart ache and a feeling I have yet to decipher.

This series has become a fandom of mine. I am pretty obsessed with it.
I waited a LONG time for this book, but now that I have devoured it,(Twice in as many days) I know that every minute of the wait was worth it.
The series has gotten better with age. (and each book)
Book three was by far the strongest book of the series. The writing is amazing. I feel like the knife never really came out of my heart while reading. It just shifted with each new emotion.

I have grown SO attached to these characters that it kind of took me by surprise.

It's funny, because in the first book, I remember thinking the main character's name is going to bug me. Now here we are in book three and I am in pieces over his name. (Yeah, I may of gotten teary that's how powerful this book gets!)
The second book I was on the fence about Krystal and now I find myself pretty tore up about what she's going through. That's some pretty great character development to make that happen.

What I enjoyed most about this series and even more in this book, was the fact that my assumptions on where things would go, was always wrong. Usually one would expect things to get a bit predictable by the third book. With this series that is definitely not the case.

It's not predictable, but it is also not rushed. There are so many questions left to be answered but instead of leaving the reader impatient, it's more of a comfortable feeling because you know it's coming. The story line also doesn't get weak enough to give you time to really focus on things you're waiting for, or to get impatient.

Reading it, kept me hooked and pushing my tired eyes on to find out more. I love books that can surprise me and that book does this and more.

I was surprised by how little of Krystal we have seen at various times through out the series, but it never feels like she has gone. The author has mastered the art of keeping characters in the front of your mind, even when they are not present. (or in some cases, are dead. :( )
I can't think of an author that has been able to do that in the same way. But I love it. (Even when it is yanking at my heart strings.)

Re-awakening feels like it just might of been the most intense book of the series. Probably because it is so darn emotional. When you think you can feel no more, it hits you again.
I've read it twice and my heart still has not recovered.

Re-awakening has topped my favourite books of the year list, for this year. That's a no brainer. I have read it twice and I am already considering picking it up a third time as well as debating on re-reading the series again. (Yeah, see obsessed!)

I am having a hard time separating myself from this darn book, I swear we're lucky I am not sleeping with my Kindle App under my pillow at this point. ;) There are not many books that we can say that about. In fact I can count the books that we can. So that is a serious achievement.

This is a must read for all who like Fantasy, or who just love a really good book.
If you haven't started this book, or the series than you are missing out and I feel sorry for you.
This is a must read.
Another 5 star read, from one of my favourite authors.

Reawakening was definitely worth the wait. It is by far the best and my favorite of this series so far. I was on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the end. The author brought so much more to this story and the characters.

Hellsfire and some friends travel to the Burning Sands to try to find Premier and a cure for Princess Krystal. What they find is so much more. From learning about ancient demons to a realm of fairies, Hellsfire has a lot to deal with. He needs to find a cure for Krystal, capture Premier and defeat an ancient, powerful demon. All the while try to figure out ancient runes, survive in the Netherrealm and keep himself and his friends alive.

There is so much excitement that goes on within this story. While it is emotional, suspenseful and full of action, it is so much fun to read. I kept thinking what an incredible adventure Hellsfire is on. But then I thought well I don't think he would see it as an adventure but more as survival. For the reader it is one awesome ride. Every time I thought I knew what was going to happen next the story would take a sharp turn. The author keeps you on your toes, you never know what is going to happen next.

There are so many new characters along with ones from the previous books that I really like. There are so many new things happening. The last part of the book the author throws a major curve ball into the story. I loved reading it and am looking forward to the coming books in this series! This e-book was provide to me for review. This did not affect my review in any way.

First of all, Reawakening is a great book. Let that be said. But if you want to fully enjoy it, I recommend reading the series in order. I didn’t, and it’s a lot more confusing that way, believe me. I’m now going to read book one and two as soon as I find some time, and then re-read the third book. But I didn’t have time before I needed to review this book. C’est la vie.

Anyway, Hellsfire is a wizard who brought down the Great Barrier dividing the northern and southern lands. Unfortunately this caused his beloved, Princess Krystal of Alexandria, to become cursed. And the northern and southern lands aren’t exactly the best of friends either. Hellsfire has been working with the Elemental Council to rebuild the land and find a way to break the curse. Just when time is running out for Krystal, Hellsfire learns that Premier, his nemesis and the wizard responsible for the curse, is heading to the Burning Sands to steal the Jewel o f Dakara.

Upon that, Hellsfire leaves for the Burning Sands, but there he learns about demons, deadly secrets, and things that threaten more than just Krystal’s life.

Reawakening is filled with so much suspense and action, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but Hellsfire finds himself in so many complicated, life-threatening situations that I just had to keep reading. Whenever I thought they were safe for a moment, something else happened, and often something totally unexpected.

Excellent writing, brilliant world-building and interesting characters, especially Hellsfire. I’m looking forward to diving into book one and two and to get to know these characters better. I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
