Review

Romantic Times - 4 Stars! Compelling - Page Turner. Sleeman's writing captivates the reader from the first page in this briskly paced tome. Exciting details combine to create unpredictable and memorable scenes. Winnie is a highly encouraging character, specifically in the way she keeps her peace despite the circumstances surrounding her.

Emergency Response (First Responders #4) by Susan Sleeman

Susan Sleeman’s Emergency Response starts off with a struggle instead of a bang. A literal struggle, with Darci Stephens trying to fight off someone that is trying to choke her to death. As usual, I picked up Susan’s book and didn’t put it down until I finished it a few hours later. This series just gets better and better. I loved finding out about Darci, the only one on the team that doesn’t carry a gun on the team being the medic. There is a lot of struggling in this book. Darci, trying to deal with her past, her growing feelings for Noah Lockhart (and his for her). Noah is struggling with his past also and struggling to keep Darci alive. The solution to this suspense took me by surprise because I usually have an inkling of who the bad guy is, but I didn’t in this case. I enjoyed being back with the team and catching up with them. This is part of a series but can be read as a standalone but if you like keeping up with the whole team I suggest you read the entire series so as to keep up with everyone as time goes on. I recommend this book, this series and anything that is written by Susan Sleeman.

Would recommend to any mystery reader that likes a clean story. Characters are realistic as they doubt and know God is waiting for them to return to following Him.

3.0 out of 5 stars This book's storyline felt very much like the previous one in the series

This book's storyline felt very much like the previous one in the series, just different characters. But the connection between the hero and heroine didn't resonate with me in this one. Noah was trying to be bodyguard to Darcy as well as be the lead detective in figuring out who was behind the attacks on her. Will he be able to keep Darcy safe and find those responsible? Will he allow others to help him? Will he break through Darcy's walls?
