When Lord Henry, the stick-in-the-mud owner, threatens to burst her baking bubble with his old-fashioned ways, Ellie wonders if she might have bitten off more than she can chew. But cupcake by cupcake she wins the locals over, including teashop stalwart, Doris, and Ellie’s showstopping bakes look set to go down in castle history!

Now all that’s missing in Ellie’s life is a slice of romance – can Joe, the brooding estate manager, be the one to put the cherry on the top of Ellie’s dream?

Family, friends, food, a glass of bubbly and, of course, a good book make me smile. I love writing emotional stories about love, loss, and family, that explore how complex and yet beautiful love can be. I also like to write romantic comedy, letting the characters have a bit of flirty fun too! I believe in following your dreams and working hard towards them, which led me to HarperImpulse (HarperCollins) and a publishing deal (woop!) after many years of writing. Stunning Northumberland is my home - sandy beaches, castles and gorgeous countryside that have inspired my writing.

First of all, I must mention the scrumptious book cover! What a treat for my bookish eyes! Love the cheerfulness brought out by the colours as well as a tiny peek into the main character story.

The Cosy Tea Shop In The Castle truly warmed my heart! Caroline Roberts has created an uplifting and utterly delightful story of never give up your dreams and desires.

I love a woman with a strong will to make her dream come true, and Ellie is certainly that woman. She is a hard worker, fun and fabulous. I adore her from the first page and could not help to give a big (virtual )hugs as I finished the last page.

Ellie always dreamt of having her own Tea Shop one day and with the inheritance of her grandma's money as well as the baking gene she is more than ready to leave her boring insurance job behind and move on. So when she spots an advert in the paper about a lease on a Cleverham Castle Tea Shops Ellie is over the moon. After the initial rather a bumpy interview, Ellie receives a surprising phone call from the dishy castle manager Joe offering her the job! Ellie's dream life is about to start in more than one way!

After few steep learning curve that comes with running a seasonal Tea shop in the ground of an impressive century old castle, Ellie starts to make a significant progress not only on a business level but also on a personal one. I love the way both Ellie and Joe have this pull towards each other. There is certainly a strong spark between them. They seem to enjoy each others company at every given opportunity and after a short hesitation and some internal battles they give each other a chance at happiness.

Caroline also created a very memorable cast of supporting characters. Each with their own quirky personality added a great dimension to this story. My favourite is definitely Doris. Initially, I found Ellie will have full hands with her, but Doris surprised me because I found a very warm heart under her prickly personality.

And of course, I must not forget the center of this story, The Cleverham Castle! Every Castle has a certain veil of mystery. The stories it could tell and Cleverham Castle sure comes alive from the pen of Caroline Roberts. I absolutely adored the description of the grand rooms and the history that comes with it. I can really seem myself having a relaxing cup of coffee and Ellie's famously delectable coffee cake at the Tea Shop in the caste.

Why should this book be on top of your TBR?

Well if you like a romantic comedy with vibrant characters, oodles of scrumptious cakes/ coffee or tea on hand and zingy love affair against the backdrop of a historical castle then you should definitely pick up this little gem of a story. I loved it!

Ellie wants to start a new life away from her bring insurance jobs & memories of her cheating ex-fiance. She applies to run a tea room at a local castle since she's always loved to cook. She gets the job, fudging her experience a bit & throws herself unto it. She meets nice people, including Joe, the gorgeous estate manager, & learns a lot about herself in the process. Trials & tribulations ensue but there's a happy ending at last!

Fun characters, lovely setting. The plot was a little predictable, but it was still a fun (and sexy) read. Makes me want to head to Northumberland.

This is a charming chick lit novel that I thoroughly enjoyed! The characters are super sweet and life like (Ellie is a woman after my own heart), the setting is beautiful (a lovely castle in the countryside) and the plot is well thought out, original, and sweet. Having not read a chick lit in a while, I am so glad I jumped right into this one. It makes me want to continue reading this genre (as it has always been a top favorite) and find more books by the author.

The story is about a woman named Ellie who opens up a tearoom in a castle in order to turn a mundane life into a fun filled one doing what she loves. Her tearoom is filled with delicious baked goods, tea, and some nutty characters. I loved them all to pieces, even the “old bat” who seems to have an opinion about everything. The author does a marvelous job describing said baked goods and I felt hungry reading it! In fact, I could really go for a panini and cake right now… Now, while love is the farthest thing from Ellie’s mind, she can’t help the attraction she feels for her boss Joe. Joe is a bit of a hermit. He has been at the castle for a few years now and hasn’t even had a chance to think about love, let alone find it in the most unexpected way. But when the two come together, dreams will become fulfilled in more ways than one.

All in all, I adored this book to pieces! It’s the perfect blend of chick lit and romance. The storyline is sweet and charming just like the characters. The author has definitely worked some magic with this book. So much in fact that I wouldn’t mind visiting a castle in the near future. If you enjoy chick lit novel, I highly recommend this read. It’s really lovely and fun!

I have to agree with other reviewers: the writing was decent, the story line was good, the sex left too little to the imagination, and what happened in the winter? Very good book for the price, but I wouldn't want to pay more. Oh, and where's the choffee cake recipe? Not having that in an appendix was disappointing.

Delightful book. Story was well-written and the desserts and food was described wonderfully. It was a cozy read which I found I had to nibble some chocolates while reading. What I liked about it? Everything from the closeness of Ellie's family as I am close to mine. Ellie's determination to make her dream of owning a successful tearoom a reality. The companionability of the Claverman Castle staff and Joe's love for Ellie was inspiring, The two were a lovely couple and the ending predictable, but I loved it anyway. I just love British fiction. If it's not British I won't read it. x

A nice read when you don't want to think too much. The characters were a bit weak, in my opinion, but still believable. The plot was rather formulaic and not overly climactic when brought to the reader's attention. The plight about castles in England was a high spot in the book. The recipes are a bonus. I'm glad I read this but don't think I will read this again.

I liked the story quite a bit, until all the sex - then I skimmed a lot of it till the end. Just the idea of the tea shop is interesting. I would have liked it more if it were a cleaner read. Several typos - needed another edit before it went out, but that doesn't bother me as much as having to read so many sex scenes.

Too many people's lives intermingle. A stage comes when you don't know where the novel is leading itself. No complications no surprise. Wouldn't recommend it.
