High Stakes (Timber Ridge Riders Book 13) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 158 ratings

No matter how hard she tries, Princess Twiggy cannot stay out of trouble. Her father has laid down strict rules, and Twiggy manages to break all of them. Flying beneath the royal radar, the headstrong princess drags her best friends into yet another harebrained adventure.

Except this one turns dangerous.

It also drives a wedge between Kate and Holly, who are trying to get ready for an important horse show that Mrs. Dean is pushing for. Angela runs hot and cold on this, which ramps up Kate’s suspicions.

Holly is concerned, too.

But their worries about Angela’s erratic behavior take a back seat when they’re confronted with a rival team that’s bent on destroying Timber Ridge.

Maggie Dana's first riding lesson, at the age of five, was less than wonderful. In fact, she hated it so much, she didn't try again for another three years. But all it took was the right instructor and the right horse and she was hooked for life.

Her new riding stable was slap bang in the middle of Pinewood Studios, home of England's movie industry. So while learning to groom horses, clean tack, and muck stalls, Maggie also got to see the stars in action. Some even spoke to her.

Born and raised near London, Maggie now makes her home on the Connecticut shoreline where she divides her time between hanging out with the family's horses and writing her next book in the Timber Ridge Riders series.

I gobble these books up like candy! Twiggy is riding at Timber Ridge... As long as she can until her father makes her come back to England. With a princess around things at the stable are always a little different. Then there's the fact that show jumping's hottest young star, Luke Callahan, is opening a barn nearby and coywolves are on the loose. Yes, that is actually a real thing!

Luke isn't just a great rider and good looking, he's also a nice guy. And he likes Kate, which she can't seem to let herself believe. But that's what your best friends are for... Helping you see the things you can't always see for yourself. Your friends are also there to get your back when a rival team is determined to stand in the way of your success. I won't ruin the story by revealing what happens but it's perfect!

I love these books better than many of the other horse series in the same category because the writing is always top notch, there are no typos, and the characters are kids I'd want to have riding in my barn. Well, not Angela but everyone else! I'm particularly interested to find out what's going to happen next with Kate and Tapestry. She knows that if she's going to move to the next level in her riding she's going to have to get a new horse but that's not easy when you love your horse as much as Kate does.

I have read all of the books in the series, three times. I love this series so much that I want to jump into the book and have the experience that the Kate and Holly do! I would rate this book six stars if I could and I can't even pick a favorite book in the series! I hope to keep reading more of Ms. Dana's books and even have a few more books in the "Timber Ridge Riders" series. She also inspired me to start showing on my horse again. Thank you Ms. Dana!🐎💕

If you have enjoyed Maggie Dana's other Timber Ridge Riders books, you will adore this one also. Filled with lots of horses, riding, misadventures, competition, and rivalry, its twists and turns will have you turning pages to find out what happens next. I truly enjoy following Kate and Holly as they learn how to become sisters in an actual family, and the competition parts of this book left me with my heart in my throat. One of Ms. Dana's best. Don't miss it!

Teen, blended family, barn, best friend dynamics simmering along occasionally threatening to boil over. Interesting twists, scary moments that make you want to grab one or more of these kids and ask them what in /$/&^% €* they are thinking of!

I can't imagine a finer, more fun horse series for readers of all ages. With HIGH STAKES the title means what it says. Superb writing, drama and a great plot once again. I'll be back for more from this amazing author.

High Stakes is one of the best Timber Ridge Riders books. It ties up some lose ends with the girls, yet leads the idea that more adventure is possible in coming novels.
