Faced with challenges from an early age, Janica has learned to celebrate and enjoy every day as a gift. Her life-affirming attitude fascinates Thomas, a shy young man who begins to see the rich colors of life in a whole new light. As she reveals a world he never could have imagined for himself, Thomas falls head over heels for the strong young woman and becomes part of her quirky circle of friends and her loving family.

Their generosity of spirit draws Thomas out of his shell. He finds strength in their visits to the children’s hospital where Janica volunteers, captivating the kids’ attention with her imaginative stories. But all too soon fate deals them a harsh blow. Can their love survive life’s obstacles?

You, Me, and the Colors of Life is a moving, hopeful story about the power of love and the power of living a life filled with joy.

A miss for me...

A miss for me...
This one, from the end of last summer, was a sadly a miss for me.Some descriptions were just a bit too, shall we say, "unique" for my taste: "At first, he was like a steak defrosting in the fridge after years in the freezer." Ummm🤔...And my biggest pet peeve in a novel is rhetorical questions, and this book was chock-full of them:"...but was it also to stay close to Janica? If so, why was he avoiding her?""What was holding him back? The fact that Janica found Steffen, not him?""Was it wrong of Thomas to interfere, especially when his brother was so fragile?"Ugh😩, you get the idea... I just can't... as a reader, I prefer to have questions answered, not asked of me🙄!!!This was also a translation, so it is possible that may have added to the contrived feeling of the story in general.

A beautiful story that captured my attention immediately after I started reading the first Chapter.
Janice & Thomas fall in love shortly after Janice saves Thomas’s brother from jumping off a bridge. I don’t want to give too much detail about the story in fear of giving the plot line away but what I will say is be sure to have your Kleenex handy because this is a tear jerker yet very inspirational also. I love Janica’s character. She sees life through a ray of colors and manages to see the bright side of things even throughout the hardest struggles in life. She has a healthy perspective to life in general and brings hope and goodness to everyone she meets.

Janica is a vibrant beautiful young woman with a terminal illness yet she stills finds time to volunteer at the local hospice for young children. This storyline drew me in from the get go and is extremely well written. This is a new author for me and I will be checking out her page for any other up coming books.

I was fortunate to have won a kindle copy of this book from a ‘Goodreads Giveaway’.

I liked that the story while focused on cancer and all of the scary things that come with it, was mostly about fulfillment, experiencing life to the fullest, embracing life’s ups and downs, and making the most of this life before we go onto the next.
I’d recommend this book to anyone who is curious about how to interact with terminally I’ll people, or anyone who desires a new outlook on life.
I gave 4 stars because I thought it was a good story, it made my heart sad and happy. I normally read fantasy novels, to the reality of this book was a good change of pace, but not as exciting as a fantasy story is.

I think this is the best book I have ever read. It deals with so much of true life and death.

This is the best book that I’ve read in a long time. The characters are finely drawn. So many lives orbit together around one woman, Janica. She cares deeply for them and gives to them love, joy, and emotional safety; so many beautiful things. This book is full of life, love, trial and sorrow and faith. It reflects on current things and timeless themes.

I had not heard of this author before, but I’m so grateful that I found this book and will be looking for other titles by her.

I received this book as one of Amazon's first reads. It is a story about a young woman who sees the beauty in everyday life. Everything is a special, joyful color to her after her recovery from cancer as a child. She meets a man during his brink of despair and in turn meets his brother and the story takes off from there. Would have rated it higher, but I felt that it dragged towards the end. More like 3.5 stars. Still a very nice book.

This story was so sad and beautiful. The development of the characters was done so well. The main character initially comes off as ditzy and flakey, but you find out that there is so much more to her. It starts off with you thinking that the story is going to be centered around one situation, but it morphs into this story about the connection it creates with other characters. And all the while the original situation is still progressing in the background, while occasionally moving into the foreground. I would 100% recommend it, but remember to have tissues on hand. You will need them.

The story is about life and love through the inevitable death, cancer and how you love the life to the fullest. The story is sad but bittersweet. It maintains an
upbeat vibe despite its inevitability of death.

My review: 5/5

How have I missed reading this book until now? It's a beautifully written story about finding the joy in everything you do, even among sadness and heartache. Finding love even though it is fleeting and making sure that those around you know that you love them.

I fell in love with Janica right away. Her exuberance made me smile, her straightforward truthfulness is refreshing, and her unapologetic show of love and other emotions is envious. And of course, her way of describing everyday objects with memorable colors is heartwarming.

I cried throughout the book, sometimes through laughter and sometimes through sadness. Yes, the book is about death. But it is so much more about life.

As always, I like to find a quote that promotes conversation or provokes introspection: "Isn't it amazing how quickly life can go from perfection to utter chaos? One minute you feel safe and carefree, and the next, fate knocks you down without mercy. Why is life that way?"

A book that talks about loss, grief, guilt, hope, and love on the same page. It made me smile, think about life, and cry. It's definitely a book you should read.
