Beautiful Chaos Kindle Edition

"A surprising mix of romance and adventure...highly recommended." ~ Midwest Book Review

While most seventeen year-olds work part-time delivering pizzas or whipping up frappuccinos, Brady O’Connell’s job is a little less conventional. Helping his dad with the family ‘business’ is a responsibility he doesn’t take lightly, especially when thousands of dollars are being exchanged. There are rules to be followed, timetables to be kept. But when his best friend Jay gets backstage concert tickets, and business interferes with a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet their favorite band, Brady decides to break the rules, just one time.

And one time is all it takes to send his life spinning out of control.

When an envelope full of cash ends up in the wrong hands—specifically in the hands of a pretty red-head named Vivienne—things get messy in a hurry. Where Vivienne goes, a whole lot of chaos seems to follow.

But sometimes…chaos can be a beautiful thing.

From the author of Hope for Garbage comes another fast-moving, emotionally-charged tale, full of plot twists that will keep you guessing, and true-to-life characters you will root for. Most of all, this is a story of first love—crazy, chaotic first love—love that hits us hard, and never lets go.

Review

"A bit of a caper, full of snappy prose and situations as funny as they are suspenseful ... the characters remain winning throughout, and young readers will find a lot to like here." - Publishers Weekly BookLife Prize in Fiction

"Mature teens and new adults are brought along for an involving ride that moves well beyond a genre romance and into the realm of hijinks, adventure, and psychological understanding in a fun,thought-provoking read highly recommended for audiences seeking something different and more realistic than romance-tinged novels usually offer."

A young adult romance novel, Beautiful Chaos by Alex Tully, follows the main characters of Brady and Vivienne who meet in haphazard circumstances. In a moment of indiscretion, Vivienne complicates a fragile situation for Brady. In an effort to fix the situation, Brady tracks Vivienne down only to find out that matters have gotten even more complicated. Even though the events of their meeting are surrounded in frustration and turmoil, the two seem to have an instant connection. Can the attraction they feel for one another overcome the situation? Even if it can, the two will face even more obstacles along the way such as Vivienne’s abusive ex-boyfriend and trying to keep Brady’s father out of jail. This is a book even adults will find enjoyable as the plot twists and turns for the two lovers trying to balance the situations they find themselves in.
There’s so much that’s wonderful to say about this book. The plot is done beautifully. It should feel overwhelming to have so many difficult situations that the main characters find themselves in, yet it feels completely logical and realistic. The opening scenes instantly pull the reader into the world of the novel and create immediate curiosity towards the two main characters. The twists in the plot are heart stopping, even up to the last scenes in the book. Readers will find themselves soaring through the pages to find out what is going to happen next. The scenes are also rich in dialogue and description that just pulls you in as well. There are also plenty of heartwarming moments in the book and the romance between the characters is kinetic.
I enjoyed both Brady and Vivienne as characters and found myself able to identify with both of them. The quirks created in the characters were stunning especially Vivienne’s job at the nursing home and how the story of one of the ladies she visited with fit into the story. I was easily able to identify with the characters being in high school and brought back some great memories. I can imagine a reader around that age would feel very at home in the novel. The book instantly made me want to know more about the characters from the opening scenes, but they were, for me anyway, a smoke screen to what was really going on. I never could have imagined the situations the characters were actually in from reading the beginning, and it kept me guessing about the main characters as I read through the story to really get to know their characters. The other characters were also easy to picture and well developed. Not only were the characters fun and the plot exciting; the book is well edited and written. There’s really nothing in criticism that I can think to point out.
I believe any age of reader will find this novel enjoyable. Even as an adult I felt immediately connected back to my high school days. The characters are unique and fun. The plot is simply well done and constructed. It was a joy to read and I look forward to enjoying some of the author’s other work as well.

Beautiful Chaos by Alex Tully is a fiction romance book that entails of two teenagers that met accidentally and set off on an adventure to find an envelope full of cash.

The book is quite long with 300+ pages but the story is fast pace and I like how the author keeps the tension ongoing with every chapter. There is no dull moment while reading this book even at the very beginning. The author includes all the necessary details and backstory of both characters that made their characters alive and believable.

The main idea behind of this book is simple, two teenagers falling in love while spending time with each other but I like how the author adds brilliant twists to the story making it unpredictable with few new characters. The connection between Brady and Vivienne is intense and instant but it suits the story very well.

As for the characterization, I feel like Brady overshadows Viviennes character. She starts off as a strong character but as the story develops, she becomes more attached to Brady. In my opinion, it would be better if Vivienne is more independent as a heroine in the story.

Overall, I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is up to a light romance book that has well-rounded characters and an amazing plot.

I absolutely loved this book! I was hooked right away from the first page. Something about the characters hit me as so natural right from the start and that feeling continued throughout. The entire premise is interesting and fun. Two teenagers brought together under the strangest of situations when Vivienne unwittingly "steals" her ex-boyfriend's father's gambling winnings. Then, she and Brady get to know each other as they scramble around town trying to find the backpack in which she'd hidden the money. It had all the makings of a great mix-up story, but it had such a natural feel and was really believable.
Obviously, the relationship between Brady and Vivienne is one of those "love for the ages" types of relationships where they both feel the zing when the first meet. I'm a sucker for that kind of story. The author did a great job of delving into both Vivienne and Brady's thoughts on their developing feelings. It felt straight out of real life. And, that flip flopping between perspectives was actually appropriate and useful in this story.
There were so many different elements to this story. The betting business, Brady's relationship with his father, Brady and Vivienne, the troubling character of Chad. I think the author touched on a scary truth to teenage relationships in a way that was palatable. Physical and emotional abuse are much more common in relationships than society likes to admit, especially when considering teenage relationships. I thought it was brave of the author to include the element with Vivienne's relationship with Chad.
I think it's the mark of a good story when you feel the angst of the characters and are compelled to keep reading non-stop. That's definitely what I got with this book. There was such great flow to the writing, too, which made it easy to read. I think that helps open up the book to a wide audience.
My favorite parts were always between Vivienne (what a great name) and Brady. Their first date on the tower watching the meteor shower, I think, would remind a lot of people of first dates when they were around that age. All the nervousness and the giddy excitement at first kisses, it was all written out so well. It was a fun read. Surprisingly poignant and touching. The perfect little young adult novel.

I really liked the story but I thought the style was slightly disappointing, especially the dialogues, which were rather poor and caricatural. But I did spend a good time reading this novel!

4.0 out of 5 stars Chaos, and what can come from it...

Through a sequence of mishaps and disappointments Bardy and Vivienne, two high school students, are thrown together in a hunt for lost valuables. Along the way these strangers find that there is a spark between them. Not that there are not moments of doubt and even distrust. Will the pair stay together? Read the book and find out.

Yes, this is a romance tale, but this novel's plot has enough distinctive events to make the story different from others. I wasn't bored reading it.

Some chapters are written from Brady's point of view, and others from Vivienne's perspective. As a result you can't really say that this is a boy's book or a girl's book: both genders will really enjoy it.

The characters are convincing: they seem like real people. The plot, despite its twists and turns, is also believable.

This book gets 4 stars from me.
