I really enjoyed the first story in the book. It is a story about a women Making changes in her life as she learns about others throughout the United States. The second story was a little harder to get through. It is the story about a man who wants to change his life and the impacted he instills on a little town of no name in the desert.

I am an ardent fan of James Patterson but this book fell flat for me. The first story started off well but the plot blew away with the hurricane as the story felt rushed, The main character set out to write a book about memorable events in the lives of strangers. Most people are not going to open up to a complete stranger in the first few minutes of meeting. I did not feel the character grew nor was there a noticeable resolution to the story.

The second story also lacked emotion, a rich guy appears out of nowhere to ask a relatively unknown author to script him a new life. There was no research conducted, the author just wrote a story and actors showed up and interacted with the main character without a script. The only emotion in the entire story is towards the end when the Daisy, the waitress has had enough and walks away. It does turn into a feel good story at the end but it took a lot of effort for me to finish the book.
