Clever and determined, Anna Locke is the successful owner of the finest Thoroughbred stables in Britain. Threatened by a blackmailer desperate to ensure Jude never learns the true circumstances of their marriage, Anna must choose between fighting against her husband or fighting for him.
With a past tangled in lies, Anna and Jude’s marriage becomes a battleground as passionate anger slides too easily into bold desire. Can they overcome mutual distrust to destroy a long-held secret before it destroys them?

About the author
Amy Sandas’s love of romance began one summer at thirteen when she complained of boredom. One of her mother’s Barbara Cartland books ended up in her hands and an obsessive interest was born. Her affinity for writing began with pre-teen poetry and led to a Creative Writing BA from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. She currently lives with her husband and three amazing kids in Central Wisconsin but dreams of someday retiring on a sunny beach somewhere. She enjoys pizza, wine, and dark brooding heroes.
Amy writes historical romance about dashing, and sometimes dangerous, men who know just how to get what they want and women who at times may be reckless, bold, and unconventional, but who always have the courage to embrace all that life and love have to offer. For her, Romance has always been a way to explore the multi-faceted experiences of love, from the angsty struggles to the HEAs. She has always loved the journey of an individual growing into themselves through the connection with another, learning that happiness, redemption, even bliss is possible, for everyone. Romance is about hope.

This enemy-to-lover storyline is a well-written one. What I liked most was it was a deeper story than just what we get in the beginning. As I delved deeper into the story of Jude and Anne I began to realize there were people and choices made that directed the course of these two characters' life. This made me begin rooting for them to find the truth and find true love.
I felt the author did a great job creating a story that made you want to turn the page to see what happened.
I also loved that the characters were strong-willed, intelligent, and forgiving. I really enjoyed reading this story and would love to read more by this author.
The hero and heroine was forced into marriage after being set up by the heroine’s sister and father. The hero blames the heroine and off he goes abroad to live a life of pleasure while hating the heroine. Eight years after their wedding he comes back and he tries to convince the heroine to annul the marriage. The heroine, who was now successful and gorgeous, decided to make it difficult for the hero and refused him just out of spite. But eventually, after a battle of wills (not angsty but really entertaining to read) the heroine finally just gave her consent to have the marriage annulled. And of course by this time the hero got to know her better already and is having doubts about everything. Eventually, the truth prevails and, boom, happy ending.
Let me start with the aspects I did not like. The hero was blatant in his pursuit of women. He tried to proposition the heroine during a masquerade when he did not recognize her. Eventually, she did reveal herself after he tried to seduce her. He felt intense attraction to the heroine but at the same time that he is trying to seduce the heroine, he has a mistress living in his hotel room. He acted like a victim justifying his hedonistic ways. In the meantime we have the heroine abandoned at 16yrs old, betrayed by her own family and her own husband and yet she rose above it and became a successful businesswoman. I did not get why the estrangement had to be eight years but I guess it is the author’s prerogative. I like that the heroine did not immediately have sex with the hero given that the entire time he was trying to annul their marriage. So I did not mind that the sex came at around the 70% mark of the book. In fact, I wish the heroine did not give in at all (and that is saying something because I appreciate the sexy time aspects of romance novels). I understand that there had to be elements of suffering and heartbreak and misunderstanding. But when the truth came to light and the hero realized he has wronged the heroine in a most grievous manner then I certainly expect a balance. For the pages dedicated to the heartbreak and suffering and misunderstanding there should be equal number of pages (if not more because I am vindictive by nature) dedicated to groveling and payback. As a reader, this is what I expect from second chance romance books. Why just showcase the drama of abandonment and suffering and injustice? There is a certain amount of satisfaction to be derived in reading about the vindication and the process of begging for forgiveness and healing. Given the quickness of the resolution and reconciliation I would have appreciated an epilogue. Sadly, this book had none. Overall, I cannot deny that this book was well-written.

Really!!!! He was engaged to the older sister, she was the one that made a drink for him right before he fell asleep...he couldn't figure out something was weird with a 16 year old in bed with him?????
Oh no, he jumped onto a ship and takes off instead- i could understand staying away to clear his head but what did he do instead - he committed adultery over and over!
He returns to take his place in society after his father dies, trying to be honourable and noble (like his father, what a crock). When he first met his wife after 8 yrs, he did not recognize her and he is kissing and mauling her (DOG). The h was supposed to be a strong business woman etc, rather than a frigging spine, she is feeling desire for him and can't think straight - WTF?? He had no morals whatsoever..even when he returned to England, he had a mistress staying with him.
His adulterous behaviour was never addressed in the book, no remorse or forgiveness - the h just welcomed him with open arms and all is well. No, no and NO. This stuck in my craw - my hot button issue!
Fancy going after a kidnapped person without some kind of weapon, in case of need!,
Still different times I suppose!
Anyway, well done and" can I have some more please" ....
