Meet Tyler Kane—a unique man with a unique title who takes on unique clients.

Kane lives in a fast-growing suburb of Nashville, Tennessee. He was a highly successful corporate lawyer for many years before he retired and dove into the arena of criminal law after he lost his wife in a tragic accident. He becomes a defense attorney, but he doesn’t refer to himself as such. He’s a serious-minded man of principle and ethics. But he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get the charges against his clients dismissed.

Kane takes on a client who is a normal-looking young man with a story to tell that isn’t so normal—a story that ultimately results in his arrest for the murder of the wife of a local investor. With seemingly insurmountable evidence, the Assistant DA wraps the noose so tightly around the young man’s neck that even Kane’s assistants begin to question his innocence.

But Tyler Kane is always devoted to his clients. The clock is ticking. Kane and his team must move fast. But will they move fast enough? Bizarre characters challenge them as they investigate the case, any one of whom could be the killer. Will Kane be able to unravel the evidence against his client before it’s too late? Will he be able to prevail over the crafty Assistant DA in the courtroom?

To be honest, I put the book down a couple of times in the beginning because there were so many details. I tend to get lost when a book presents too many characters, or too much information to shuffle around my memory.
However, the story does progress and turns into a cozy little mystery that makes for a great weekend read. The writing style, as said above, is detail heavy, but also presents a streamlined feel. Almost as if it were a movie that you had to stay tuned to as it pulled you along and through it. There are plenty of twists in the story, and the end is quite satisfying.
I'd recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good mystery or detective story.

If someone had told me that this book was written by Earle Stanley Gardner under a pseudonym, I would have believed them. Once I started reading it, I couldn't stop. Murder mysteries are my favorite genre. I am trying to solve the murder using the clues dropped by the author, before the author reveals the culprit. I have to admit that the author had me dancing all over middle Tennessee, and suspecting a half a dozen characters.
I am sure that Tyler Kane will be as popular with the present generation, as Perry Mason was to our parents.
Friends, if you read this book, you will go on a trip, and you will meet some interesting characters; and you will be saying to yourself all the way through the book, "Ah ha, so she did it", or, "Now wait a minute, l bet he did it", or, "No way, now I know who did it", etc. etc.
(A a side note to the author, when Tyler Kane moves up to the silver screen, could you use your influence to see that I am cast as Earl?)

This is an intriguing detective / murder mystery with an interesting plot. The characters are developed well, and are realistic.
The writing style is not for me. There was a lot of over-writing and redundancy in descriptions, wording and dialogue. I felt as if I was reading the same thing over and over.

Jeremy is a young man who has been accused of murder. All the evidence points towards him, but the author does a masterful job of illustrating why hasty conclusions are not always the right ones. Kane is the defense lawyer who must delve deeper into the case.
I enjoy Perry Mason style courtroom dramas, and this book did not disappoint me. It gets off to a good start, and held my interest to the end. In fact I found it difficult to put down, and the plot twist, the courtroom reveal at the end, is quite satisfying.
The novel is sprinkled with memorable characters, and I give it a well-deserved 5 stars for great story telling. I would really recommend this author for those who love a great who, or how, dunnit.

Personal Solicitor is written in a cut and dry style like some of the older detective novels I have read. There is a lot of explanation until you get halfway through the novel and all the evidence is pointing toward Jeremy's guilt. How Tyler Kane unravels the evidence is very engaging. During the last half of the plot, I didn't want to put this book down. This is an enjoyable read that kept me guessing until the end.

This appears to be the start of a great series of mystery/detective novels as Michael Pickford takes the reader on an adventure in which every detail might be an important event in the plot development. This novel is filled with suspense as the mystery unravels little by little, with the ultimate truth being saved for the end. The characters are dynamic and believable, and easy to become attached to.

A few minor issues with sentence structure. The most obvious is that the author often switches the action between past and present tense with verb use and should keep everything in past tense, but this does not take away from the wonderful quality of this story! I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys this genre!

The story is rather interesting, but the writing was distracting. The author explains the actions in long detail with very simple language use. There are also many words used incorrectly. I couldn't finish the book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Writing, Great Story, Great Book!

When an alarm goes unexpectedly off in a house that Jeremy Scott is taking care of, his curiosity is well and truly piqued. What he didn't expect was to find himself accused of murder several hours later.

The only man who can keep Jeremy from spending the better part of his life in prison is Tyler Kane.

Kane has made quite the name for himself as a defence lawyer, but with the evidence stacking up against Jeremy, Kane fears for his client. But, this isn't a clean cut murder, and Kane is determined to get to the bottom of it.

Michael Pickford has a unique voice, and I have never read a book in this style before. However, the writing style really worked for this book. Kudos, Mr Pickford, for your bravery in writing something fresh and new.

Personal Solicitor (Tyler Kane Series Book 1) has everything that a good crime/mystery book should have. Plenty of action, a who done it mentality and characters that were well fleshed and believable. This book will have you second guessing right until the final chapter.

I look forward to reading more books in this series.

I Highly Recommend.

3.0 out of 5 stars A decently perplexing mystery
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on September 27, 2017
The crime to be solved is set up, the suspects become more numerous and each more likely than the other, and the whole thing is unravelled with a satisfyingly tricksy solution. Stiffly and punctiliously written, as befits the nature of the main protagonist, with a supposedly ‘bright’ but in actual fact, dumb seeming secretary, along for the ride to play the part of Watson to his Sherlock. A Conan Doyle set up with an Agatha Christie style.
