A very well written book. A lot of historical information. The plot is well developed and keeps one's interest throught the story.

I enjoyed reading this book. The author was good at describing the location and the sense of impending war. The heroine is good at deductions

Fabulous. A great read. Our little maid is now a companion to the Family's Aunt and living with her and the young girl in France. Life is carrying on as usual - parties, tennis and high living. Her life however doesn't quite fit into either category. Neither servant nor the in crowd. However when she accompanies the daughter to a masked ball it ends when a body is discovered. A Hungarian Baron. No-one seems to know or care about his death. Written off as a lothario who was living off his conquests. She and the Aunt decide to investigate. What will they find? Plus the war is moving ever closer and Vivian after a short visit decides to see if he can save his mother. Evacuation ships are on their way. Can they get the information about why the Baron was killed before they have to flee? What will happen on the journey back and once they reach home what will they do?
A great plot that really had me guessing. Although I must admit there were a few times I wished that someone had given the daughter a good talking too.

I've really liked all the books in this series. They're loads of fun.. easy to read .. and each book becomes a little more character intense

I have found a new favorite historical cozy mystery author in C.G. Oster. Her second Dory Sparks mystery, Mischief in St. Tropez, was as delightful as her first. I love the characters, especially Dory who cannot allow a murder to go unsolved because the victim needs justice. Very interesting learning about the British stuck in St. Tropez. They were so certain the French and British could hold off the Germans that they failed to leave France before things went from bad to worse. But while all is in a turmoil, Dory is attempting to solve a murder when no one else seems to care except for Lady Pettifer, her employer. Dory did a good job of puzzling the pieces together, but as they escape from St. Tropez, it almost seems the mystery will go unsolved. Good, fun read.

Wonderful characters in a much different time. Enjoyed the book and will read the next installment in the series. Highly recommend

Another entertaining story ... but ... "gentile poverty" rather than "genteel poverty" ... and that's not the only example of homonym problems.

3.0 out of 5 stars Ok but irritating errors

The story is ok but obviously any meaningful editing was omitted. Gentile poverty instead of genteel, para shooting instead of parachuting and births instead of births to name just three. Really inexcusable.
