Justice Betrayed
A Memphis Cold Case Novel #3
By Patricia Bradley

Detective Rachel Sloan is coming up on the 17 year anniversary of her mother's murder which was ruled a burglary gone wrong. But the perpetrator was never apprehended. And now she has an Elvis impersonator who knew her mother claiming that he has evidence that her mother's murder is linked to the death of another Elvis impersonator. A photo of her and her mother with four Elvis impersonators is only one piece of evidence that Vic Vegas claims to have gathered. And when the other people in the photo start being targeted this cold case has just become a lot hotter.

But to get the answers she's seeking Rachel has to figure out a way to stay on the case which she's sure her supervisor Lieutenant Boone Callahan will pull her from if he learns about the possible connection to her mother. But solving this case may be the only way she can work past the guilt she's felt all these years. And even worse is the blame she knows her dad has placed on her shoulders.

But as the case starts gaining traction those with a link to the case start being targeted - is the killer still out there? Or is it just a coincidence that Elvis Week is again being hit with murder. And when Rachel becomes a target is it because of her investigation or her familial ties to her father Judge Lucien Winslow?

Justice Betrayed is a suspense as one knows what the murderer/criminal is doing but their identity is hidden away. There are several potential suspects that one is like hmm is this the one but then another scene unfolds and one is swayed in another direction. I love when the outcome isn't given away early on in the book and each successive page draws the reader further into the story. And the cover illustration is the key to the whole thing.

This is the third book in the Memphis Cold Case series but it can easily be read on its own. The series is progressive in the timeline but not so that if read out of order the reader would get lost. By the way, the other two books Justice Delayed and Justice Buried are well worth the time spent reading. Perfect weekend reading!

Keeps you hooked with twists and turns, likeable characters with their own troubled pasts. A little romance without all the risque sex scenes, which I appreciate. Patricia Bradley's books reference faith & God in a way that appeals.

I think this third book in the series was my favourite so far. The creepy killer had me guessing right till the end on their true identity and I felt constantly second guessing myself on who I ultimately thought it was.

I enjoyed Boone's character, but think I would have liked to see more about his past and what happened which made him micro managing his team. Rachel I also enjoyed, however, I did get frustrated about some things she did - but I think that is also why I liked her - she was not perfect and it always refreshing to meet characters with faults. I loved her grandmothers!

I'm enjoying this Cold Case series, and looking forward to the next and final book in this series. Though this is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone.

Growing up in Memphis and recognizing the streets and areas mentioned in the book made it even more real. I also liked that even though there were a lot of characters, it was written so I could keep up with them and their connections. I would recommend this book to anyone that loves mysteries mixed with romance.

I am only half way thru this book but I can definitely say it is very good one. Have read Bradley's other books and they are all very good reading.
These books are clean and no cussing at all which goes to show you a book can be written without them. She is on my list of preferred authors. Do NOT miss reading this one.

There is no Memphis without a little Elvis impersonation in the mix! I have been wanting to read more on Rachel and Boone since the first book in this series. The sparks were flying with them! In this book we get to know their background a little more and what happened between them before the events of the 1st book. Wonderful characters, mystery and ending! I loved it!

While I liked this novel, it was easy to put down. While was lots of “stuff” going on, none of it was very interesting until the last 10%. There was good character development and a unique plot, a little romantic tension and of course drama.
Since I’m not an Elvis fan, the major cast of characters had to do with Elvis impersonators and that was unexciting for me.
It is a decent story, but seemed to drag on forever.

And yet another great book, by a great author, in this Memphis cold case mystery series! This story will have your interest from the first page, and then hold it until the last. Our book club has had the privilege to be joined by Ms. Bradley to discuss some of her previous books. What could be better than to have an opportunity to learn some of the author's thought processes and ideas about characters and plot as the book was developed? Be sure to watch for the character of Erin in this latest book. She is a young woman with both strengths and disabilities, which helps to make Justice Betrayed true to qualities that are in all of us.

Going over some of my reading material recently I realised I hadn't caught up with Patricia Bradley's Book 3 or 4 in this series so quickly downloaded and thoroughly enjoyed Book 3. It contains a broad scope of areas - love, caring, suspense and romance. Everything you look for in a good book. Now for Book 4.
