Country Roads is the first in a continuing series following the lives of Lara Faulkner and Finn Murphy. Having met in college, they reconnect seven years later to unburden truths and struggle through the ups and downs of life together. It falls under the contemporary women's fiction category with an emphasis on the romance between the two. It marries my love of country music and my past of working in the soap opera industry. I just can't let these characters go. I always want the drama, and I always want to know what happens next.EXCERPTThe stomach rumblings and slight cloudiness in my head signified thedefinite nerves and uncertainty of telling someone. But they were mixed in withpossibility--the possibility of being just a little free.
His return was within only a couple minutes. "Sorry 'bout that." Heused his defined arms to help position himself on the ledge next to me.
"Who was it? One of the girls from every city?" I used my go-tosarcasm.
He ignored it. "It was my dad. He said he forgot to tell you thanks forthe watermelon trick."
I couldn't help but give a short snort. And then, "The stars really arespectacular." It was a natural stall, but I didn't really need it. I was ready."If you really want to know why I'm the way I am, I'll tell you, Finn. But it'snot a pretty story, and if you don't want to hear it, that's okay. It's justseeing you again, I don't know, I realize how much I've changed and have gottenpast it, and maybe I shouldn't be so ashamed. Maybe it will help to tellsomeone."

I looked into his eyes, those honest gray eyes, for a long moment, justto reassure myself that this was the thing to do. A wash of calmness spreadthrough my body. I felt at peace with my decision.

Country Roads is very different than my normal romance reads. And I can say I loved it. I finished it on Monday and had to let it marinate for a few days before writing a review. It is still there, pulling me in. It is a real life love story. Unforced attraction. And a reuniting of friends to lovers. Even given Finn’s country celebrity musician status: he is a caring, thoughtful man. And Lara, a teacher, handles the celebrity-ness with grace. Their struggles and joys are as tangible as us mere mortals. :) This is the first in the Country Roads series and only touched the tip of the iceberg in Finn and Lara’s romantic journey.

I enjoyed Lara's and Finn's reunion and romance. Finn is a country singer superstar, he's remained humble and caring. Lara, a school teacher, isn't easily fazed by Finn's status but soon doubts fueled by insecurities creep in. This story of emotional bruises, hope, and love had me turn the pages until late at night. All the characters are so real, they could be your friends or next-door neighbors. I only have one heartwrenching regret. To find out what it is, you must read this story.

This is the first book in the series, and I can't wait to read more by Grea Warner. I loved the story of Lara and Finn, and Ms.Warner's writing is flawless. Love isn't always easy, but it's a road worth traveling, and nothing could be better than taking a trip with his author.

I really liked the two main characters in this story, Laura and Finn. Actually all of the characters were very likeable and I liked the family/relationship dynamics. I also thought the setting was interesting with the nephew/student sort of unknowingly orchestrating the whole reunion thing. It was a cute idea.

There is some terrible sadness in this story so be warned. The overall feeling of the book, though, is hopeful, and inspires to grab opportunities when you can and live each day to its fullest. Strong focus on familial bonds as well.

I liked this one enough that I am looking forward to reading the others in the series.
