To Claim Her Heart Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 302 ratings

In 1893, on the eve of the great race for land, Benjamin David prays for God to guide him to his 'Promised Land. Finding property and preaching to the lost are his only ways of honoring his deceased fiancée. He hasn't counted on Elmer (Elsie) Smith claiming the same plot and refusing to leave. Not only is she a burr in his side, but she is full of the homesteading know-how he is sadly lacking. Obtaining a claim in the Cherokee Strip Land Run is Elsie Smith's only hope for survival, and not just any plot, she has a specific one in mind. The land's not only a way to honor her pa and his life, but also to provide a livelihood for herself. She's willing to put in whatever it takes to get that piece of property, and Elsie's determined to keep it. Her bitterness is what protects her, and she has no intentions of allowing that preacher to lay claim to her land . . . or her heart. Written for the General Market (G) (I): Contains little or no; sexual dialogue or situations, violence, or strong language. May also contain some content of an inspirational/religious nature. Similar novels in this genre may be categorized as: historical romance, inspirational historical romance, christian romance, and wholesome historical romance.

A very special story of a young lady who had been reared by her Father nd a young Preacher who both held the titles to land out west. The lady wore pants and worked like a man. They were harassed by bandits who wanted their land. A must read for those who enjoy historical western romance kindle books from Amazon at a special price and from a delightful author who keeps me wondering what next for the characters. A great book to read and enjoy.

Enjoyed reading this book and loved that the story idea came from the writer's mother-in-law. Parts of the story actually happened to her husband 's family. Love history.

This is an exciting and very adventurous story of a young pastor and a mixed up young orphan girl. There is also bits of good fun and humor. Staring wit the land run and claims made on the same property in error. I guarantee you will have a hard time putting this tale down. Great job Jodie Wolfe.

My family was part of the Oklahoma Run. I love reading about the settlement of our west. Elsie is a delightful character. Not the typical female we rid of during that time of her history although I believe we had to have women like her to make our country into what it is today.

The story takes us through many twists and turns and will keep you laughing. Enjoy.

he is really a she, raised by her father after her mother died at her birth. So she knows how to farm and shoot & bring in meat to eat. Elmer (Elsie) and her father were going to find land out west but he dies and she goes it alone. Benjamin and she end up having claimed the same plot of land so things do not go well. And then there is a bad man who hurts and threatens landowners enough to make them given him the deeds to their land. And then there is Elsie's aunt who arrives planning to take Elsie back with her......... Lots going on . Worth reading.

This book is the first one I've read by this author and I thought it was great! I normally don't read this kind of genre but was interested so I picked it up. It was sweet and quirky with the conversation and interactions between the characters. If you are looking for a sweet romance to curl up and read on a quiet day this is a perfect choice! cute and quirky and sweet... all good things for a fun fiction read! :)

This was a great story that I couldn't put down. I loved the growth of the characters throughout the book. I enjoyed getting to know the neighbors as well. Benjamin and Elmer (Elsie) had a strong chemistry between them. I love Elsie's tomboyish ways and her spunk. Benjamin was a man of honor and integrity. I liked seeing how they got along as they worked the land. Benjamin's care and concern along with the neighbor's showed Elsie that God still cares. Seeing her faith grow in the story only added to my enjoyment of the book. I highly recommend to those that love good, clean, western romance.

The historical aspects of this book were very enjoyable, as well as the neighbors of Elsie and Benjamin. But for so much of the book, I was frustrated. Those two apparently had no sense of how to communicate and Benjamin was not the brightest guy on the block! He really irked me when he had his accident from falling off the roof. Elsie tried helping him, and twice within a few minutes he told her "I don't need you"! Really?! Why would he say that. Then, of course he has all these romantic notions about Elsie again. So, on to more non-communication between the two, until the very end when Benjamin finally snapped out of it and professed his undying love for her and what does she do? Runs away and when he catches her she kicks him in the shin? Seriously?
If only this book would have had them get married much sooner, then the rest of the story could have them facing the struggles with bandits and building their homestead...TOGETHER. I really wish I could have given the book five stars, but the back and forth stuff got very old and I almost quit reading numerous times.

It's like living a part of history. A really well written story. Gives you a slight insight into what these hardy people went through. Loved the characters and how it all ended up.
