About the authors
Vasily Mahanenko is a fantasy and sci fi author and one of the original founding fathers of the new genre of LitRPG - the MMO-based fantasy and sci fi. His debut novel The Way of the Shaman series took literature by storm in 2012.
Vasily dipped into his college-days insider knowledge as a hardcore gamer in order to create a believable world of the virtual-reality MMO game. His bestselling series combines fiction and video games, telling the story of Shaman and his friends stuck in the ruthless reality of Barliona. He used his more than ten years' experience as an ERP implementation project manager to approach his writing in a well-organized manner, working to a strict schedule, a set of deadlines and even a budget. The entire body of Vasily's works to date is available on Amazon now, with new books adding as he comes up with new fantasy worlds and stories.

Andrei Livadny is a successful science fiction author. Born on May 27 1969 , he was an avid reader from an early age. But it was Robert A. Heinlein's The Orphans of the Sky that decided his choice of future occupation. The story has become a pivotal moment in the boy's life, leaving a lasting impression on him.
Andrei wrote his first book at the age of eight. Since then, he's never stopped working on new stories. His passion for science fiction has gradually become his career.
In 1998, Andrei debuted with his published novella The Island of Hope. Since then, he has penned over 90 books that have enjoyed a total of 153 editions.
Andrei has created several unique worlds, each unlike the previous. He wrote The History of The Galaxy with humanity itself as a protagonist. This sixty-book series creates a history of our future civilization and its contacts with alien races, forming a convincing and logical picture of humanity's development for two millennia from now.
Andrei's recent involvement with the bestselling genre of LitRPG - books set in online roleplaying games - inspired him to create his two most intriguing series to date, The Neuro and Phantom Server. Merging virtual reality with cyberpunk and dark fantasy, these two series prompted an Amazon reviewer to call Andrei "one of the best new authors in Sci Fi".
Besides hard science fiction, Andrei Livadny also works in cyberpunk genres which allow him to focus on human relationships and raise questions about artificial intelligence and identity uploading, describing cyberspace as humanity's future environment.

Michael Atamanov was born in 1975 in Grozny, Chechnia. He excelled at school, winning numerous national science and writing competitions. Having graduated with honors, he began to study material engineering. Soon, however, his family had to flee their house which was destroyed during the first Chechen campaign.
Michael was forced to accept whatever work was available. He moonlighted in chemical labs, loaded trucks, translated technical articles, worked as a software installer and scene shifter for local artists and events. At the same time he never stopped writing, even when squatting in seedy hostels. Writing became an urgent need for Michael. He submitted articles to science publications, penned news fillers for a variety of web sites and completed a plethora of technical and copywriting gigs.
Then one day unexpectedly for himself he started writing fairy tales and science fiction novels. For several years, his audience consisted of only one person: Michael's elder son. Then, at the end of 2014 he decided to upload one of his manuscripts to a free online writers resource. Readers liked it and demanded a sequel. Michael uploaded another book, and yet another, his audience growing as did his list. It was his readers who helped Michael hone his writing style. He finally had the breakthrough he deserved when a publishing house offered him a contract for his first and consequent books.
Michael is now the author of several bestselling LitRPG series which are already considered the classics of LitRPG.

Pavel Kornev is a successful author of speculative fiction whose writing crosses the boundaries of the thriller, LitRPG and fantasy adventure. Genre mashing has long become his signature style.
“His books are a page-turning mix of non-stop action and edge-of-the-seat suspense. Far from being a knight on a white charger, Kornev’s typical protagonist is an everyday man with his fair share of flaws who puts his talents to good use. His heroes struggle to survive and win their places in the sun; but most importantly, they manage to preserve their humanity even in the direst of circumstances.”
Pavel is a professional economist who spent years working for a large bank – until his first novel, The Ice, became an overnight bestseller, allowing him to quit his day job. In his spare time Pavel jogs, swims and is an avid beer brewer.

Andrew Novak was born in 1971 in the vicinity of the city of Chernobyl which was soon to become tragically famous due to the nuclear disaster that turned part of the Ukraine into one large dead zone. Andrew drew on his childhood impressions of the catastrophe later in his writings. He was one of the original creators of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. - a post-apocalyptic computer game inspired by the Chernobyl events - as well as the sci fi series of the same name. His S.T.A.L.K.E.R. books sold over a million copies, followed by the world of the Blighted Wastelands he described in his next series, AlterGame.
Andrew lives high in the Bulgarian mountains where he continues working on new books.

Eugenia Dmitrieva is a prolific author of LitRPG, science fiction and Slavic fantasy. She started writing in 2006 by actively participating in literary challenges on various gaming forums. In 2013, she began writing full time using her extensive experience as a consummate gamer.
The advent of LitRPG as a genre completely fascinated her. In 2014, she wrote a short story for a LitRPG contest offered by Vasily Mahanenko and set in his world of Barliona. Vasily liked her contest entry, The Khaki-Colored Noob. With his permission, she then did a story about another unusual Barliona class: the Bard. With Vasily's assistance, the story of Lorelei the Bard organically added to the world of LitRPG and has by now grown into a three-book series.

Archibald by Vasily Mahanenko (Dark Paladin series)
-An ok side story that gives you more detail about the third book in the series. Score: 6 out of 10.
The Dark Knight by Andrei Livadny (The Neuro series)
-White leveling and trying to find his daughter. In between story of books 2 and 3. Score: 6 out of 10
The Terror Slayer by Alexey Osadchuk (Mirror World)
-Anton, game designer. Adjusting int of mob Dwand. Meant to change from 9 to 6 but startled and accidentally changes to 66. Dwand gains sentience and starts to be able to see game notifications, gets skills, and xp. New player experience, except it’s an NPC monster. A good story that doesn’t depend on the bigger series to be enjoyable. Score: 7 out of 10.
Reality’s Edge by Pavel Kornev (Unassociated litrpg short story)
-This is either a super short story or tease for an upcoming book. Either way kind of meh. Score: 5 out of 10
Who fed the Troll by Andrew Novak (AlterGame series)
-Jack the Tramp side story where he has to deal with a well fed troll blocking the entrance to a quest. I liked it. Score: 7 out of 10.
Level Up - Fight Setup by Dan Sugralinov (upcoming Level Up series)
-Not so much a short short story as the first chapter of an upcoming LitRPG story. It mixes real life RPG with boxing. Enjoyable. Score: 7 out of 10.
The Khaki-Colored Noob by Vasily Mahanenko and Eugenia Dmitrieva (LitRPG short story set in Barliona)
-Soldier on leave. Convinced by his friends to play VRMMO Barliona. Starts out a bit slow, but good. You don’t have to have read the main series to enjoy it. Score: 7 out of 10.
Save the Dynasty by Michael Atamanov (Reality Benders series)
-Short story from the POV of the dark faction. Takes place after end of book 1. Dark faction is looking for retribution after their last loss. But there are also plans within plans afoot. Really good stuff and my favorite of the collection. However, you’ll be completely lost if you’ve not read book 1 in the series.
Score: 7 out of 10
Overall, I liked more of the stories than I didn’t. But if you’ve never read any of the main series the stories are pulling from, you’ll likely only enjoy a couple in this collection.
Overall Score: 7 out of 10.
