Buckle up, folks. It’s time to jump in, embrace your inner self, and release the things that are holding you back from wholeness. Enter the Millenneagram.

The Enneagram is an ancient personality typing system that has a sneaky way of revealing who we are and why we do the things we do. Using nine types, it gets to the root of our fears and motivations, unveiling our inner-most selves.

Millenneagram reinvigorates the Enneagram by putting a modern spin on the classic nine types. Hannah Paasch, creator of the popular #millenneagream threads on Twitter, reveals how this system acts as a map toward our authentic selves. For Hannah, the Enneagram is not about changing who we are, but rather nurturing and loving our whole selves, even the pain in the ass qualities. “Only from this position of wholeness, rootedness in who we are, what we believe, and what kind of story we are writing, will we be able to act bravely for the sake of justice and humanity – to approach our f*cked-up world with the grounded courage it asks of us.”

With her trademark irreverent humor and empowering affirmations, Millenneagram reframes the classic Enneagram types with a fresh perspective and new names that cut right to the chase:

#1 The Machine
“I’m an Enneagram 1 and I Can Fix This!”

#2 The Parent
“I’m an Enneagram 2 and Can I Get You a Refill?”

#3 The Winner
“I’m an Enneagram 3 and All I Do Is Win.”

#4 The Tortured Artist
“I’m an Enneagram 4 and I’m Deeper Than You.”

#5 The Detective
“I’m an Enneagram 5 and I Read an Article About That.”

#6 The Oracle
“I’m an Enneagram 6 and I’m Loyal as Fuck.”

#7 The Party
“I’m an Enneagram 7 so This Might Be Vodka In My Mug.”

#8 The Dragon
“I’m an Enneagram 8 so Nice Try, Bitch.”

#9 The Wallflower
“I’m an Enneagram 9 so Let’s Just All Chill Out, Dude.”

A powerful tool for self-discovery (that doesn’t take itself too seriously), Millenneagram is an invitation for introspection and growth. Hannah’s revamped Enneagram goes beyond simply identifying with a type: it gives us permission to be our truest, enough-as-is, bad-ass selves.

Review

Millenneagram is a super special book. It’s vibrant, raw, incredibly funny, heart-tugging, sharp-witted and it is downright fun to read. Admittedly, those are not words typically associated with a book about the Enneagram, but here, through Hannah’s empowering lens, the Enneagram has new glow about it.” — Ryan O’Neal, Sleeping At Last

“What Hannah has done here in Millenneagram is brilliant. Her low-key sass is backloaded with common sense and clever sagacity. Be prepared to be blown away by the depth of insight and candid levity she brings to this ancient esoteric knowledge.” — Christopher L. Heuertz, Dragon Author of The Sacred Enneagram

“Sharp and acerbic.… What [Paasch] says here could be the anthem for a generation.” — Religion News Service

Hannah, you are amazing 😍 Love this book!
Love. Love. Love. And love. Hannah did an excellent job appealing to the younger audience. I normally cannot fall into a book but I did with this one. Enneagram has been on my mind and while reading reviews from the MANY books you can buy, I picked this one because it seemed the most REAL information. I showed a friend who was skeptical, but he read his number and chapter and was hooked. This one is a great book to understand the basics and get your mindset on track. It definitely steered my mindset out of my funk as soon as I finished. Very deep thinking. I am a 4 - and agree with the mindset behind it. Apply the knowledge and be yourself. Highly suggest.

So, I am a 5 (and if you don’t know what that means, then you need to read this book), and so I have read quite a lot of books on the Enneagram. This is neither the deepest, nor the most thorough, but it is definitely the category leader in:
- Best Starting Point for the Enneagram. Without a doubt, from now on, when people ask me what they should read first, this book will be my answer;
- Most Readable book on the Enneagram. Enneagram books can often feel like textbooks. You often feel like you are wading through them if you read them end to end, and they end up being more reference books that you dip into;
- Most Fun book on the Enneagram. I laughed so much reading this book!

On a personal level, this book was the one I didn’t know I was looking for. For the past couple of years, I have been describing myself as a “lapsed evangelical and devout yogi” and dealing with the fallout from that transition. I had never come across the term ‘exvangelical’ before, but I like it, and it was incredibly helpful to hear about people going through a similar philosophical shift - and all the ways that restructures your life - even if from a completely different part of the world. People going from the toolbox I used to use to navigate life to a new set of tools, one of which is the Enneagram: it made me feel a lot less isolated and weird. People asking the same kinds of questions about how to navigate life, love and all the madness in between: definitely what I needed to find.

So, I was incredibly grateful to discover Hannah’s book (and then her Instagram account and then her podcast). It has met me exactly where I am at. It was also a welcome antidote to all the Christian-heavy Enneagram podcasts out there. Neither my past nor present selves resonate with this. When I was an evangelical, I would have absolutely denounced the Enneagram as a pagan scheme (I did constantly lecture people on how a Christmas was the Catholic Church reframing a pagan festival for political reasons back then). I can understand it being used by liberal Christians like Richard Rohr who have a more universalist perspective, but evangelicals, it’s just weird. Plus these days it drives me nut when I’m working with Enneagram material and suddenly the Bible shows up again. May be good for some people, but not what I need at this point in my life. (I am scientist by day, and then know all the mantras for the chakras, so clearly, I like my cognitive dissonance - but the combination of Christian and Enneagram is not for me right now. If it shines light into other people’s lives, then you know, yay for them)

Having said that, I do think this is a book for Anyone. The book does have a millennial and a US-flavour, but this gives it personality, rather than restricting its potential audience. It is so accessible, so compassionate, so fun and it draws you in. Whether you are an Enneagram-neophyte or a long-time student, this book has so much to offer. It’s light, it’s funny, it’s insightful. There basically isn’t a good reason not to read it.

(P.S. as a 5, it was fascinating to learn that we can be someone’s type. That gave me an ego boost on a day when I needed it. Though I was mock-outraged that w6s are considered more mysterious than w4s. Of course, I am a w4 ;)

(P.P.S. I’ve seen reviews that weren’t mad about the profanities. I loved them, and even for more sensitive souls, I don’t think it will cloud the value in this book, so don’t let it put you off)

Ever since I finished the book, I have been returning to the last line of the book over and over again: “You are invited to believe that you are the point of you”. I don’t think it’s ruining the punchline to quote it here, but if that even vaguely resonates as something you might want to believe you could believe, then read this book.

This book is a wonderful introduction to the Enneagram. It's written in an informal tone that makes the info feel less intimidating and more accessible. I love the author's sense of humor. One minute she's totally teasing each of the types about their traits and the next minute she's telling us deep truths about our type that we need to hear so we can learn to tell them to ourselves. It's a quick read, neither too little nor too much, and a wonderful way to spend a day in self-discovery and healing. Do yourself a favor and get ya one of these books.

I love how the author explains such an ancient tool in such a modern way. The only thing that bothered me was that you can tell she basically copied the format and in some cases almost the exact words of The Wisdom of the Enneagram by Don Riso and Russ Hudson. It shows a lack of knowledge. At the very least, a lack of imagination. But overall, it’s a good book. A great introduction into the tool for someone that may never have heard of it.

While I’ve been following Hannah Paasch on Twitter (& thus gleaning from her wisdom & hilarity) for well over a year & a half now, the Enneagram only entered my life as a personal tool for growth this past November -(although, admittedly, my initial exposure to the Enneagram isn’t entirely divorced from Hannah’s periphery influence on me through Twitter.) All that to say, I’ve been specifically waiting for Millenneagram to come out as a resource for literal *MONTHS* now, & my inconceivably high expectations for it were not only matched, but exceeded by the experience I had within its pages.

Hannah as a writer is simultaneously snarky & gentle, vulnerable & tough - in that way embodying the very invitation she extends to her readers: those things we may have written off in the past to be impossible contradictions, unable to coexist, is as silly & irrational as the binary construct we’ve created & imposed upon said attributes. We can be all of these things & more at once, Hannah asserts again & again - both through her writing & in the style of writing herself. We contain multitudes. We don’t have to write things off so much as we need to write things in. Hannah’s take on the Enneagram invites us to allow a hefty dose of grace, radical self-understanding & intentional healing to help guide the pen as we do so.

Regardless of how familiar you are with the Enneagram I believe the addition of Millenneagram to your bookshelf will be an invaluable resource for you. Part of the beauty of Hannah’s presentation of the Enneagram is that she makes it very attainable & relatable while still expounding on/expanding previous understandings & interpretations of the Enneagram - thus making this a resource for the Enneagram novice & the Enneagram expert alike, as well as encapsulating the spirit of the Enneagram itself. After all, as Hannah points out herself several times throughout the book, the Enneagram isn’t static, & shouldn’t be treated as such.

&, dearly beloved, we have gathered together, today, to grow.

I ended the book in tears of gratitude. Suffice it to say, I am sure I’ll be revisiting it’s contents again & again.

I understand it is written with "millennials" as its target audience, but the language is almost overkill. I found it generally informative, but the slang is actually distracting from the message.

To begin, as a straight, Boomer, male, I am NOT her target audience! But, as someone who has read over 30 books on the Enneagram, it came up on my Kindle at a price I couldn't resist. So, I started reading it, fully expecting the worst. But, lo and behold, Hannah knows her stuff, and conveys it in an entertaining and compelling way. If you’re offended by profanity, then this book is not for you, but if you like your learning with a healthy dose of irreverence, then I’d highly recommend it. I’ve already given it to my wife to read, and have gifted it to my daughter-in-law. Great job!!

4.0 out of 5 stars amusant, rapide à lire, ton "informal" plutôt dynamique

Good content but broad topics. Not overly in depth for any of the 9 types, just big picture view for each one. Essentially just skipped through most of it to read my type.
