The Woman in the Woods was the first book I read in 2023. And it was fantastic. I usually only read crime and psychological thrillers but this time I decided to read a book about the paranormal/supernatural. This author was a favorite of mine back in 2010; however, I have not read any of his recent work. I'm glad I did. The story is about a teenage boy who returns home after spending the last several years in a secure psychiatric unit. Once he returns home, he starts seeing and hearing things that make him think his house is haunted. He also receives backlash from some community members because of his family history and events that took place over a 100 years ago. This is a great book for people who like the macabre but don't want to read a lot of gore and violence. And even though it contains paranormal events it does not cross over to being too unrealistic like some books in this genre do. Very highly recommended.

Woman in the Woods, by Phillip Tomasso, is a supernatural thriller that ties events from the distant past – the year 1912 – to the present. As the story progresses, we learn the time line of events that happened from 1912 on, and gradually how they supernaturally affect Jeremy in the present day situation.

The author has written a strong character in Jeremy. He has severe psychological problems stemming from the murder of his mother, which he witnessed when very young. Yet, after years of therapy, he has managed to retain just enough logical sanity to allow him to understand his plight and how to avoid being sent back to the mental institution. He also has an uncle that believes in him.

While we follow the story that began in 1912, I was left with a question about how the good former law officer’s life affected the horrible present day officer since they were related. Other than that, the way the past affects Jeremy and the other characters is quite stunning. It all comes crashing together in the end.

I read "Woman in the Woods" by Phillip Tomasso in its entirety today. I could not put this down! It was so thrilling and well written that I couldn't wait to learn what happened next, so I didn't lol. This is the second book of his that I've read and both were fantastic. He is a local writer in Rochester with a zombie novel based in Rochester called, "Vaccination" and this one based in both Rochester and the Adirondacks. I highly reccomend those who enjoy thrillers to read his work. I purchased this right from amazon.

I really enjoyed this - the slow unraveling really added to the tension and kept me turning pages. A bit spooky in parts, as well! Really interesting story line and well-drawn characters. I'll be reading more from this author.

I really enjoyed this book and the style of writing. If you like a good old fashioned ghost story grab this one.

Enjoyed this deceptively simple story. Intriguing enough to keep the pages turning but not so intense that its stressful, i plan to read more from this author, he weaves a good yarn.

"Woman in the Woods" by Phillip Tomasso is a real page-turner! The story begins in 1912, then skips to the present. That pattern continues throughout the book, adding to the intrigue and suspense. Although I don't normally read ghost/paranormal mysteries, I'm glad I made an exception.

I'm sure a lot of people would enjoy this book however it just wasn't my cup of tea. I bought the book after reading the blurb on the back and I figured I would enjoy it. I didn't realize it was about the paranormal. Definitely not the type of book that I like.

A really good short read. However, I would have liked for some parts of the story to delve a little deeper.
