I have read most of Crystal Mary Lindsey's books but she has outdone herself with this one. It had my attention from the beginning and only kept getting better. I feel this is her best work so far.

The main character, Mariah, was enchanting, gracious, and humble. I was captivated by her and couldn't wait to see what would happen next. The plot was intriguing and fast-paced with some unexpected twists.

The historical aspect of the book was very believable, and it was apparent that the author had done her research well. The ending wrapped everything up nicely. Highly recommended.

Although a cute story where everyone lives happily ever after (except the bad guys), there was evidently no proof reading. In the earlier part of the book, Mariah’s name was intermittently made Miranda! At one point Will and Brian, her workers, becomes a Ken. All types of misspellings, wrong words used and sentences that didn’t make sense, etc. I like the Christian theme and use of scripture, but the heavenly manifestations raised an eyebrow. It was entertaining and delightfully set in early 20th century Victorian North Carolina.

What a fast pace book! From the minute I started reading it I couldn’t pull myself away from it. Nonstop action! I’ve come to expect that from Crystal’s writing. I’m currently The Mystery Healer of Smoky Mountain: Inspirational Medical Romance. I’m looking forward to what’s is next.

Lindsey pens a grand story with House of Shadows Secrets never Die. The story takes the reader back to the early 1900's. I like the story, full of secrets and great characters, especially Mariah. She is drawn to Hart, and something builds from there, I think chemistry, and not a forceful storyteller. I really enjoyed this story, as it also brought twists and turns, and an unpredictable ending. I look forward to reading more by Lindsey.

I like the story line. But, I'm very disappointed with all the errors that were not caught by the proofreaders. Name errors: Mariah/Miranda, Rebecca/Rebbecca, Will/Kent and Jeb/Jed. There were all kinds of spelling and grammatical errors. I'm not an English expert, but I've found almost 100 errors and I'm only halfway through the book. The most glaring error for me was the steamboat trip to Greensboro, NC. I'm from the area and we do not have a river near us and we are about a 3.5 hour drive from Swansboro, which is on the coast of NC. We do have the Dan River about a 45 minute drive away. I don't think it is big enough or deep enough for a steamboat. Sorry.

A beautiful Christian story that shows forgiveness and the love of God. It has a depth that can only come from an author who's faith is strong. Well done.
