4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars 2,152 ratings

You might not believe in ghosts, but sometimes they believe in you…

Everly Dupree is having a bad day. The kick you in the teeth, set your pants on fire, make you question everything kind of bad day.

At the end of it, her marriage is over, she’s essentially homeless, and finds herself in a moving van headed back to her hometown of Mooselick River, Maine.

At least, she tells herself, things can’t get any worse.

But, of course, they can. The next thing she knows, Everly’s staying at the Bide-A-Way motel with a deadline of a week to get her life in order, and it isn’t looking good.

Enter Martha Tipton who offers Everly the chance to buy the town’s haunted house for the ridiculously low amount owed in back taxes. Everly signs on the dotted line, but before she can move into her new place, the dead body of Hudson Montayne, her high-school sweetheart, turns up in the next motel room.

Just when Everly thinks she’s won the grand prize in the bad luck sweepstakes, her life takes a turn into the paranormal. Hudson’s ghost comes haunting, and since she is the only one who can see him, refuses to leave until Everly solves the mystery of his death.

Will Everly bring a killer to justice? Or will the end of her story read,
and she lived Haunted Everly After?

If you like plucky heroines, lovable characters, and ghost mysteries set in Maine, you’ll love this cozy, paranormal series.

Erin Lynn is a fiction author from no-place-you've-ever-heard-of, Maine, where she lives with her two hilarious teenage sons, an adorable chocolate lab, and three mischievous kitties. Erin inherited the trait of expressing herself most effectively via the written word from her mother and writing partner, ReGina Welling. She pens cozy, romantic, sometimes paranormal, unputdownable mysteries.

A reader practically from birth, ReGina Welling lives in Maine with her husband, a silly flufferpup named Dash, and a crazy cat named Cricket. She writes full-time and also creates mixed-media artwork when she gets the chance. ReGina and her daughter, Erin Lynn, are writing partners, having penned four series together with surprisingly few arguments!

Forced to flee to her home town after a cruel end to her marriage, she finds her new start and solves the murder of an old boyfriend. It is interesting enough to continue reading the series.

A good, fun, easy read. Everly and Jacey are a great team and I'm excited to read more about them. My only criticism is that the book ended too abruptly and Hudson, who had been an important part of Everly's life, was disposed of with just two sentences.

This book was interesting. It was an engaging look at small town life and how people relate to one another. There weren't as many ghosts as I was expecting but there was a murder to solve.

This is an entertaining paranormal cozy mystery series. A fun cast of characters and an entertaining storyline. Nina decides to move back home after some events that happened in the beginning of this book. You will find out once you be in reading. She moves back to the small town where she grew up in northern Maine And basically with not a lot of money and no car she plans on staying with her parents for a week until she finds an apartment and gets a job. Things aren’t going to plan though. Other things begin to happen a few things fall into place and maybe her life‘s getting ready to turn around when once again more things happen and then there’s a crime and she gets dragged into it and there may be a ghost involved at some point. It is a Entertaining and will paste the story that will keep you reading from beginning to end and wanting more. Check it out

Ghost Mortem, the first novel in the Haunted Everly series is a fun paranormal cozy mystery. Everly Dupree is having a very bad week. First, she discovers her husband is having an affair. When she returns to her childhood home, her parents are renting out her old room. And then, she starts being haunted by a murdered ghost. I loved the characters and the story. A very fun read.

I loved the story line and characters. I was so engrossed that before I knew it I came to the end. Now I can't wait to start reading the next book in this series. I also can't wait to find out what is behind all of the locked doors.

I love the characters and the storyline. Everly and her friend Jace are funny and quirky. Jaces Mom is a psychic and really funny but she knows what she's talking about.
The others are secondary yet crucial to the story.
I was only a little surprised at the killer after Everly remembered a vital clue.
I recommend this to anyone that enjoys a really good cozy mystery.
Enjoy, Ourania 😇

This was a great book to read. It was easy, funny kept you emotions all over the place. Everly was a character that any woman could feel for. Having to deal with a very real situation, instead of hidjng and giving up she digs in and make a go of things. I love her strength and determination to get her life together and come out ahead.
Having to deal with ghosts didn't make it any easier, but she showed her true colours.
The way the story was written you could see where many more plotlines will aim to.
If you like an easy read that has a good mystery, has humor and strong characters, you will thoroughly enjoy this book and any others in the future.
