Do you feel like you're a "pushover"? Do you let other people make all the plans--letting them pick the movie, the restaurant, or the vacation destination? Does self-care feel selfish to you? And do you find yourself feeling resentful toward others because they don't seem to take your needs into consideration?

Can you relate? If the answer is yes, this is the book for you!

In this book, master coach, speaker, and author Nancy Levin will help you establish clear and healthy boundaries. This isn't easy; many of us don't want to "rock the boat." We assume setting boundaries will lead to conflict. And, unfortunately, by avoiding conflict and not setting limits, we tend to choose long-term unhappiness instead of short-term discomfort.

This book includes exercises and practical tools to help even the most conflict-averse, people-pleasing readers learn new habits. You'll learn how to recognize and take inventory of your boundaries, view your boundaries differently by creating a Boundary Pyramid, learn how to say "no" effectively, and set your Bottom-Line Boundary. As your supportive guide, Nancy will show you how to gather the courage to live a life of "boundary badassery."

"This work was life-changing for me, and if you're someone who has avoided boundaries for years, it can change your life, too." -- Nancy Levin

New Decade of Setting Boundaries!

New Decade of Setting Boundaries!
Nancy is one of the most incredible souls on. the planet! Reading the first chapter of her new book will leave you hooked. If you're someone who resonates with the people-pleasing superachiever syndrome this book is for you. FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) is a real thing, but FODO (Fear of Disappointing Others) is real too. (at least it is for me.) 🙂. Her book is super relevant, and full of tools on how to be the most authentic you. Exploring your inventory of boundaries, creating a boundary pyramid, identifying your bottom-line boundary, and reclaiming sovereignty. Working at Google has pushed my comfort zone on boundaries for sure, and negotiating no commute, fewer clients, dedicated resources, and more spaciousness was a win-win all around. There’s so much goodness in this book to create a life with deeply fulfilling relationships. Thank you Nancy!

OMG! This is the most liberating and empowering reading I’ve read since completing my life coach certification! Stop what you’re doing and order this book! I thought I had a decent handle on boundaries but this book is blowing my mind! Got caregiver energy anyone? Got people pleasing? Got anger or resentment? You just had a personal boundary crossed! Yup, me too! I bet after reading this book you’ll realize that you allow people to cross your boundaries all.the.time without even realizing it and in learning how to change that, you‘ll feel so much freer, have tons more energy, and actually find your relationships are better for it as a result of you showing up more authentically and more sustainably.

This book is going to be a staple in my coaching repertoire for anyone dealing with relationship issues or finding themselves resentful. It goes into so much more depth than the infamous boundaries book by Cloud & Townsend and is so much more relatable and practical. Boundary Badass, here I come! 🥳

This book got right to the point of why boundary settin is so important: your life will suck, be wasted and be sad without them. No exceptions. Your kindness without safe borders leads you straight to hell. Oh and when you get there no one will care they just hop over your smoking ashes of martyrdom and on to the next.Over empathising with others not knowing your own feelings and feeling responsible for how people feel is no way to live fully. I especially enjoyed the ghost of no boundaries future. Borrowed from a christmas carol it scares you into seeing how sad life can be when you dont take care of your own needs 1st. Honorable mention set boundaries within for yourself and dont violate them it'd disrespectful. So this book actually changed how I view commitments to self and chores even.

It would seem I really didn't have any boundaries before COVID, all my life I had just used avoidance techniques when I was overwhelmed. Being suck at home during COVID, I was accessible to EVERYONE ALWAYS (including my colleagues, my partner, my dog, my friends, my family) and was unable to lean on my old non-confrontational tactics (i.e., leaving the office, staying at the office, "not hearing my phone ring"), I found myself completely overwhelmed and starting to lose all semblance of emotional control. After reading MANY self-help books trying to understand what the heck was going on, I found this book and realized that I had not established any boundaries. This book has changed the way I listen to my thoughts, increased my confidence, and helped me stick to my convictions. I cannot recommend this book enough.

Lots of work: you can't just read and wake up with boundaries all set magically. So it's exercises on your psyche, and Nancy knows what we're talking about. Best key I found to unlock that door.

I have good boundaries in some areas, decent ones in other ares, and ones that sure need working on in another area.

This book helped me continue to honor boundaries that are working in my life and cultivate language and understanding around the boundaries that I want to work on.

With Nancy's examples and how she breaks down the boundary setting steps I was able to address areas of my life that needed the support, so I can be most authentically me. AND feel safe in my self.

Our boundaries are our business and I'm grateful this work came into my life.

It's a super accessible read and one that you can begin applying new skills literally one page one.

If you want to strengthen the boundaries you have, and cultivate ones that you know would benefit from your attention, buy this book. Read this book Do this work and you will set yourself free.

This has been a very helpful book. I plan to keep it handy and review the highlights on my Kindle as needed in the future. I grew up with the childhood programming of being a people pleaser in order to survive best as a child. Decades later, I am still trying to eradicate that programming, because although it may work for while we are children, it’s really counterproductive for managing oneself as an adult. Your book really shines a light on this situation and guides the way for working toward more independent and healthy self-care goals and ultimately toward basic survival as a unique person. Lots of practical advice is given on how to implement some very important ideas.

You NEED this book if you are ready to take your life back!! If you are anything like I was before I met Nancy, you feel like you are consistently walking in the dark trying to find your way, never knowing which is the right way. Never having a boundary, always saying yes to everyone and no to yourself. Now as a result of her work and this book, my life is full of boundaries that I’m honoring. The darkness I once walked through has lifted and I am free from my own shackles. This can be you too!! DO IT!!

This book is so easy to "get into"! Right off the bat I found myself relating to the examples and realizing there is so much more to boundaries than just being able to say no. I've learned to ask myself if I am clear on my boundaries in so many more areas, and to be able to put my desires into language that is beneficial for me and others! I will definitely re-read this one. Thank you for this book - So good!!

Some of the advice may be useful to people who struggle to say no and end up bogged down in other peoples issues. However some of it went too far for me. What kind of a world would it be if we all put ourselves first at all times and ended relationships or ghosted people if we couldn’t get our own way. At one point the writer even blames her affair on her own failure to set boundaries. That’s quite a leap. We all need to set our needs aside from time to time if we have any humanity.

4.0 out of 5 stars This great resource busts boundary myths & presents a process for building healthy boundaries
Reviewed in Canada on January 31, 2020
Nancy Levin's book reads as deceptively simple...but that's only because she writes with such clarity, and in easy-to-absorb chunks. Her myth-busting insights about boundaries are nothing less than major paradigm shifts -- like the one that WE are the ones who cross our own boundaries!

This book provides a gentle, gradual but powerful process for working through what our genuine boundaries even are (since few of us were ever taught about healthy boundaries) -- including which boundaries are *non-negotiable* for our health and well-being. All the steps and guidance are here to help you figure out what you want in the first place, starting with simple, easy-to-set boundaries and building from there to those that feel more high-stakes and high-risk. Thankfully, Nancy makes it seem doable, and you get the feeling she's right there coaching you through, by your side, supporting, advising, encouraging, teaching, leading the way.

I love the boundary "inventory" -- a great way to get clarity on times/situations where we *have* practiced strong, healthy boundaries, and where we have gaps in our boundaries we might not even know about.
There's also a valuable section on how to find the words to express our boundaries, with some example scripts provided.
The more I read this, the more I'm amazed at how thorough, complete, well-thought-out and well-laid-out this book is. It has the vital concepts about boundaries, but is so practical and grounded with the exercises and examples it provides, too. Nancy's skills as a coach really show!

My only quibble is that, in my opinion, it needs to be stated more clearly and earlier on in the book that some people -- such as narcissists or those with borderline personality disorder -- are not capable of participating in healthy ways in interactions that involve boundary setting. This does get mentioned, but almost parenthetically here and there. BUT, that said, even if someone is dealing with some very serious boundary issues with narcissists, I think this book is an incredibly helpful resource for getting clear on exactly what your boundaries are in the first place, and then how to go forward from there.

The nice thing is there are various options for how to express those boundaries, whether verbally and explicitly to others, or simply with oneself. And yes, this book even talks about self-boundaries!

Highly recommended for anyone serious about connecting with the boundaries they need in order to create a healthy, positive and supportive life for themselves as unique individuals, whether in intimate personal relationships, or in business/work situations.
At the same time, if someone just wants to dip in briefly and pick up a few gems, without doing the exercises and in-depth reflection, this book still has tons of value and will change your thinking and awareness about what healthy boundaries can be in your life.
