Anh Nhi (or Annie), moves to Rome, RI for a new job and fresh (and relationship free start) after a bad breakup. Things get off to an interesting start when she finds herself stuck with an unwanted and unexpected hot brooding new roommate, Emmitt. Both Annie and Emmitt are struggling to find themselves and define family. Luckily in this heartwarming rom com, they manage to do just that.

I’m always a fan of the thrown together and end up falling in love story line and no one deserves a happily ever after more than Anh – just wait until you hear about her past love life. I’ve said it before, but Marina Adair knows how to write a great rom com, complete with moments of laughter, frustration, and that make you want to cry. However, always leaving you with an ending you can root for. If you love a good romantic comedy, look no further.

Read It For: The feel-good romance and the exploration of what makes a family. 💜 💜

This was book 1 in the When in Rome series, the second book is called Hopeless Romantic and will be releasing this January. I’ve been lucky enough to snag an ARC from #NetGalley , and am excited to start this one next. I’ll be posting my thoughts on this read in a few weeks. 😊

I loved the background for Anh and although not being adopted myself but of being of Asian heritage I get how it feels to be the in-between, as an Asian American when I go back to visit family from out country of origin it's like I'm totally different, their trust of my abilities is different because I'm different from them. I get that. I like that Anh was able to find peace in who she is and it was great to have a wonderful love story between her and Emmitt. And the side characters are a blast! Can't wait for the next!

This is a great story with awesome characters, one being a teenage girl with three dads who love her to distraction. The real attraction is the unlikely love story between Emmitt and Ahn. It is beautiful and sometimes hard, because, well, love is beautiful and sometimes hard. So why not more stars? There is an expectation that an author pay attention in his/her own story. Sticking to time of day is important in a scene, for example. Gathering up blankets, but setting down towels is another. Oh, and the thing that keeps a car from rolling downhill is a brake, not a break. Little things that would be so easy to fix if only a little editing was done and then the reader could enjoy reading a really great story that was well written.

Emmett is a photographer who travels to dangerous assignments and found out he was a father when his daughter was around 5 years old. There was already a stepfather and close uncle involved so he was basically the 3rd dad. Once Em and Annie meet things get interesting. There is family drama and lots of feelings in this one along with a slow burn and a HEA.

Emment Bradley is the owner of the house she rents and comes back from a photojournalist assignment early and injured. He doesn't know his home has been rented. Emment is a player and doesn't do relationships. Annie is wary of romance because her fiance broke up with her to marry someone else. The story goes on from there as they both find themselves and each other. A very nice story.
