    This was, believe it or not, my very first Choose Your Own Adventure! I loved the setup of the whole night being an interview for this mysterious job. It made me ten times more anxious to make the right choice and get through safely. The magic drew me in and the setting and voice kept me there. I read it in a day and then had to start over and try a new path! No, I never did pass the interview, but I scored pretty high!

    Love this and all of Mark's choose your own adventure Lovecraftian books! He accomplishes two things very well.
    First and foremost, he knows the subject matter through and through. I've read a lot of H. P. Lovecraft as well as countless similar stories and his Night Office books are right up there along side them for subject matter and breadth of scope.
    Secondly, Mark knows how to get in your head. It's like he is riding along with you and anticipating your choices as you read his books. Always funny while keeping the Lovecraftian lore to boot. This balancing act he manages to perform time and time again makes this book and others in the series an absolute delight.
