Editors' pick: Colorful fun on every panel will have even reluctant readers turning the pages and giggling their way through this mystery."—Seira Wilson, Amazon Editor
Review
"...has heaping helpings of surreal alligator action and wordplay gags to keep new readers bent on solving the mystery." ―The New York Times
"With its rampant good-natured goofiness and its unrelenting fizz and pep, this feels like a sugar rush manifested as a graphic novel. Silly and inventive fast-paced fun." ―Kirkus
"In high-intensity colors, straightforward panel artwork by Green (Hippopotamister) offers plenty of slapstick gags to Brash and Mango’s tale. Fast-paced fun for the bad pun and dorky joke crowd." ―Publisher's Weekly
"Like the heroes of Dav Pilkey’s “Dog Man” or “Captain Underpants,” the Investigators are bound to resonate with kids." ―School Library Journal: XpressReviews

The long story: I bought this book on a whim, thinking it might interest my comic- and superhero-obsessed 5-year-old. The InvestiGators book series quickly became his new obsession! The book is presented in a comic strip fashion, which instantly captured my son’s attention. The writing is SO funny and the storyline manages to be the perfect combination of bizarre and brilliant! My husband and I joke (but aren’t really joking) that this author is a literary genius. We quickly devoured the entire series and are anxiously waiting for the next book to be released. In the meantime, my son “reads” these books to himself on a daily basis (a perk to the comic style is that he can “read” the pictures even though he’s not yet reading words). At his insistence, this is our go-to birthday gift for all of his friends. As a mom, teacher, and children’s book author myself, I own A LOT of children’s books. The InvestiGators series is one of my favorites. We have tried out countless similar series and none of them compare. I highly, highly recommend the InvestiGators books!
Highlights:
-The comic-style presentation is great for kids who already enjoy comic books and would be a fun introduction for kids who are new to them. This style is also fabulous for children who are not yet able to read the book themselves because they can “read” the illustrations.
-The content of the story is strange and hilarious in a way that is appropriate for children. Many similar books have content that is a bit mature for this age group or that models/encourages rude or inappropriate behavior. I love that this book is able to be fun without being obnoxious.
-It’s really funny and “punny” - even for adults!
