Fearless Girl: A completely unputdownable gritty crime thriller (Anna Davis and Freddie Tyler Series Book 6) Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 2,012 ratings

Fans of Martina Cole, Kimberley Chambers and Jessie Keane will be hooked by Fearless Girl.

When everything changes, you have to come out fighting.

It’s been three years since
Anna Davis’s ex-boyfriend Freddie Tyler was sent to prison, now he’s back on the streets of London and about to find out that everything has changed.

As Freddie enters his West End club for the first time in years, he finds Anna sitting behind his desk, confidently leading his team of men. Anna used to hate the world he lived in, but she has now become a big part of it. And she’s not about to give up running the family business easily.

Anna shows a toughness Freddie has never witnessed in her before when she tells him about her new enterprise, smuggling stolen diamonds through London’s Hatton Garden. And alarm bells start ringing when Freddie meets Anna’s new partner. Cold and ruthless, Roman Gains isn’t someone Freddie trusts around the club and particularly not around Anna.

Whilst tensions flare between Anna and Freddie, a new Russian firm enters their world, determined to bring the Tylers down. And when they take out one of his best men, Freddie has to take drastic action to wrestle control from Anna. But she has other ideas. And when Roman becomes Anna’s closest ally, Freddie finally reaches breaking point. Could this be the fall of the Tyler empire and the last time Freddie and Anna are on the same side?

After the shocking events from book five, Reckless Girl, I have been eagerly awaiting the next instalment in this brilliant crime thriller series. I am pleased to say after devouring Fearless Girl, I was not disappointed and it was very much worth the wait! Having only been introduced to the series last year, it has fast become one of my favourites. I really believe there is so much more to explore in Freddie and Anna’s story that I hope this series will be around for a while to come.

Fearless Girl picks up three years after the events in Reckless Girl which saw brothers Freddie and Paul Tyler whisked off to jail, ending the book in one hell of a cliffhanger. Now as their time in jail is coming to an end, the men are looking to get back into the swing of things and picking up right where they left off. But three years is a long time to be away and Freddie is about to learn that not only has the family business changed under Anna’s helm but also Anna herself and he is in for one big shock if he thinks that Anna is just going to relinquish control and walk away without one hell of a fight!

As always, Anna and Freddie have been written perfectly and just jump off the pages as they are brought to life. I really enjoyed seeing a more forceful side to Anna this time around, much to Freddie’s shock, as she fights to keep her position in power, not only in the businesses that she has successfully managed to keep afloat against all odds but also in raising Freddie’s son Ethan, whom he barely knows, only learning of his existence not long before going to jail. I enjoyed how Emma changed the dynamics of Freddie and Anna’s relationship in this book No longer together, it is quite an emotional rollercoaster to see how this was going to unfold when they were brought back together which made for some tense moments.

Emma has done a great job unleashing the inner bad girl in me and sweeping me up into the drama and excitement of the Tyler family and the going on’s in the underworld. Through writing that is so engaging and vivid, you feel like you are there watching from the sidelines, part of the action as it all unfolds, which does so in spectacular fashion! There is never a dull moment in these books and Emma expertly keeps you on the edge of your seat throughout as the tension builds which has you furiously flipping through the pages.

Fearless Girl is able to be read as a standalone and Emma does a great job in ensuring you are well informed of past events if you are a new reader, but I really recommend reading these from the beginning. It is one hell of a series from an author who just keeps going from strength to strength as each book is released.

I think you get the idea that I loved this book. It portrays the gritty side of London’s underworld so realistically and it is a fast-paced read that keeps you on your toes and enthralled from beginning to end and I will be eagerly awaiting the next book. It was an absolute pleasure to read and review Fearless Girl which I can not recommend highly enough.

Thank you to NetGalley, Bookouture and Emma Tallon for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Fearless Girl which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

It has been three years since Freddie Tyler has gone to prison. When he gets out not only does he need to reassert himself as head of his crime organization, but he hopes that he can get his girlfriend Anna Davis back. Freddie is hardly prepared for the new Anna. She just didn't keep things going, she took completely over. The Anna Freddie has come to know and love took quite some time adjusting to his lifestyle.

Before Freddie went to prison, Anna started a business connected to his club, and this perhaps should have clued Freddie in as to the metamorphosis Anna was experiencing. Now she has included another lucrative, if not dangerous aspect to things, that of smuggling diamonds. This is certainly not how Freddie would have gone about growing his enterprise. Furthermore, Anna has acquired a new partner, and he is someone Freddie does not trust around his business, but especially not around his woman - well, now his ex.

How far will Anna go when it comes to her new life without Freddie? When other dangers present themselves almost immediately, Freddie must take back what is his, all while keeping Anna and his family safe. Never before - even while he was in prison - has Freddie thought he could lose everything he ever had.

What an exciting book by Emma Tallon. Fearless Girl is the sixth book in the Anna Davis series and it is thrilling, with danger lurking at every corner. What is more is the fact that if readers had read any of the previous books in this series, they would have seen the all-encompassing love that flourished through the years between Anna and Freddie, despite terrible heartbreak and loss along the way. I was on tenterhooks hoping that the two could come back together again and literally read this book from cover to cover in one sitting. I cannot wait to see what else Ms. Tallon has in store for Anna and Freddie as well as their family and friends.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

If you have read the previous books in the series, you will definitely love this one. I was a little lost, not having read all of the previous books, but I can see that the author did a fantastic job of continuing the epic story of the gritty Tyler crime family. I would recommend this book but definitely start at the beginning of the series to get the full scope. For more thoughts, please visit my blog at Fireflies and Free Kicks Fiction Reviews. Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for a digital ARC of this book.

Since the authors previous novel, I have been desperate to catch back up with Anna and Freddie to see how things have been with Freddie, along with his brother Paul, being sent to prison.

Wow, wow, wow, wow! I so wasn’t expecting such a volatile and explosive read. Things are insanely intense between Anna and Freddie as they try to find some happy medium of picking up where they left off, work wise. It was agonising seeing this once so close and loving couple being at complete loggerheads. My heart was in my mouth as to where the author was going to take this particular thread and I read on with some trepidation.

As with all this authors novels, there is plenty of crime and action along the way. In an under world of lies and deceit, it is a very scary place to be that leaves you constantly looking over your shoulder. You can guarantee the competition are never going to play nicely which made for an edge of your seat read.

Fearless Girl is a tense and gripping page turner. My only ever issue is that the author leaves me desperate for more. My heart was racing at the end of the novel, wondering what is next in store for the characters. I was literally hanging off every word, waiting to see how the author was going to play things out and boy does she mess with your head. Please, please, please don’t keep us waiting to long for the next one!

My thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for an advanced readers copy of this book. All opinions are my own and not biased in anyway.

Freddie and Paul leave prison and things are just not the same after being away for over two years.
Freddie and Anna are at odds and when accusations fly Anna is ready to leave. Mix that together with a Russian mobster things get messy.

This is book 6 out of 7 in the current series of novels about Anna Davis and Freddie Tyler (and their loveable firm of East London underworld villains)

The story picks up after the Tyler brothers get released from prison, which was the cliff-hanger ending of the previous book.. we immediately get brought up to speed on most of the things Anna has done while Freddie and Paul were incarcerated - above and beyond her own legitimate night club business (and the newer, not so legal “after hours” club) and parenting Freddie’s son Ethan, Anna has really proven her worth in picking up the mantle and overseen the Tyler’s’ whole enterprise at a vulnerable time when it could have been ripe for takeover by rival gangs… But, as hinted on the blurb at the back of the book (therefore no spoiler here) Anna and Freddie’s relationship sadly doesn’t seem to have survived the time they’ve been apart… there may be someone new on the scene and Freddie emerges less confident after being locked away for a few years. We are left wondering throughout this book if they can work things out between them (and obviously rooting for them to do so!)

In this book, Freddie and Paul hit the ground running as they try to adapt to being freshly paroled and immediately face the new challenge of a Russian mob trying to encroach on their turf. With the usual plot twists and surprises and more of what we’ve come to love about the familiar characters, and a couple of new ones!

I have only got book 7 left to read now. Each novel in this series is juicy, detailed and thoughtfully written but also around 300 pages so if you enjoy devouring a book a day like I do, get stuck into this series!
