One of PopSugar's Best Romances of October

With the stakes this high, it’s no longer just a game for the Mustang’s quarterback in this
romance by the author of Blitzed.

Elliot Reed is living her best life—or pretending to. She owes it to her dad’s memory to be happy and make the most of her new job as Strategic Communications Manager for the Denver Mustangs. Things are going well until star quarterback Quinton Howard Jr. decides to use the field as his stage and takes a knee during the national anthem.

As the son of a former professional athlete, Quinton knows the good, the bad, and the ugly about football. He's worked his entire life to gain recognition in the sport, and now that he has it, he’s not about to waste his chance to change the league for better. Not even the brilliant but infuriating Elliot, who the Mustangs assign to manage him, will get Quinton back in line.

A rocky initial meeting leads to more tension between Quinton and Elliot. But as her new job forces them to spend time together, Elliot realizes they may have more in common than she could've imagined. With her job and his integrity on the line, this is one coin toss that nobody can win.

WOW. Where you have gone, Ms. Martin. Forever i thought all "romance" books were bodice rippers; so I totally avoided them as trash. Then I read what I thought was historical fiction about the young British suffragettes in London & Oxford...but, it turned out was also a romance novel. Who knew this combo was possible. NOW I've read the full PLAYBOOK series, each with its own redeeming quality. But with SNAPPED you have totally bested yourself. You've probably taught 1000s about racism in football (maybe think about it in other sports too) & the hidden maltreatment of early retirees. KUDOS on bringing enlightenment into romance. And congrats to your publishers for taking the chance to support a worthy but hidden cause & not so hidden twisted racism in our country. It takes a team.

I knew from the Authors beginning notes that I was going to enjoy this one; she tackled a hard subject for some and I can honestly say she did it very gracefully; Bravo👏🏾.

Before I get to the meat and potatoes of this book, let me just state that My Vonnie (yes, she's my book BFF too🤭😏) truly needs to have her story written; or at least an update bc my boo deserves happiness. Her and those little men of hers. I loved her & Justin as a couple, so yeah, I need updates.

Ok, on to this book. Elliot was so oblivious to racism that it was scary. Scary to think that there are so many people just like her in the real world. Quinton was just what she needed. I was a bit annoyed by her friends, Liv & Marie, seeing the blatant disregard for the things Elliot was brushing off, or laughing off, and not saying anything to her, yet I kind of understand how awkward that must've been for them, as 2 white women, to see racism being thrown at their half black, half white friend, and not know what to do to make her see it was wrong. And I know Elliots dad died, probably in one of the most horrific ways imaginable, yet I really hated that he raised her to NOT see color, which lead to her disregard for the things she did all her life. Thank goodness for friends who don't hold back, like the Lady Mustangs, who helped Elliott in the end. Gotta Love those Dang Lady Mustangs😁💕.

Mr. Quinton Howard. My heart hurt for him from the beginning. Even with him being rude to Elliott at their first meeting, I hurt for him. I have no idea what it must be like being faced with the things most professional Black male athletes go through daily, yet this was much bigger than his mistreatment; it was about his dad and his mistreatment as a football veteran and others like them both, on and off the field. I really liked him and was so glad he opened up about his family issues with Elliott.

This was such a great way to end the series. Even though there were only originally going to be 3 books, I'm so glad the author wrote this 4th one. It fit in very well with the others and didn't feel forced. I love that the author put more of her own biracial experience in this book and tackled that topic as well. Very well written and super entertaining.

Highly recommend this series.

I love that this story has football, deep issues about CTE and racism AND romance. It is well written and moves forward without bogging down at any point. Kudos to the author. Keep writing.

There is nothing to dislike about this series, love every minute it took to read it, recommended for those who lives vicariously through the art of words.

I have been reading this series since the first book released a couple years ago. Each book follows a different player's love interest. I have mostly enjoyed this series. It's nice to read books that aren't so cliche'.

I think I should just dive right in here. If you are a reader looking for a book that hits the current climate on things going on in our country right now with sports, this book is probably for you. If you're like me, and you prefer to not have books reflect current real life things so closely and want to read to escape all of it, then this one might not be for you.

I tried really hard with this book. I didn't like the characters. The plot was too close to real-life in a time where I just want to read to escape reality. Did I mention I didn't like the characters? When you mix the inability to read this book as an escape and a dislike for the main characters, you have a book that you are struggling to finish. You have a book that takes you days to finish instead of hours.

I kept my rating in the middle range because the book isn't necessarily written poorly. It's not. I kept the rating in the middle because for the right reader, it's a good book. For me, it's just meh.

I was skeptical about reading this book because I use reading fiction as a way to escape reality but Alexa did a good job of telling a romantic story while tackling current issues. As a society, we may not be in a fairytale and there is still work to be done, it was nice to read a happy ending while still shining light on the progress we need to make.
