The Sinful King: An Enemies-to-Lovers Romance (Sexy Royals Book 1) Kindle Edition
5 years ago, I attended a mascarade party and lost my virginity to the man who would one day become king...
If you had any ties to Marbella, it was impossible for you not to have heard the stories about Prince Elias and his debauchery. Every summer he arrived with his security detail and friends in tow and rented out a row of cottages near the water.
Cottages that belonged to my family.
Each of those summers, my parents sent me away – to summer camp and later, boarding school. Anything to keep me away from the royals and their partying.
I hadn’t been home in years, but when I finally come back for the summer, I see that not much has changed.
Like all the summers I’d been gone, Prince Elias is back, but this time with an incognito security detail and no friends.
This time, there is no partying, no noise, and no crowds.
No reason at all to even think he was there.
I’m given strict orders not to talk to him, not to even look in his direction, but he makes this an impossible task.
I may be doing everything in my power to stay away from him, but there is no one in the world who can say no to the future King of France.

About the Author
Claire doesn’t like to talk about herself. Because of this, she asked a friend of hers to write her bio. This is what she got:
Claire is caring, smart, witty, and funny as heck. Despite being a New York Times Best Selling Author of a popular contemporary romance series, Claire doesn’t read many romance novels. However, when she sits down to write, those are the ones that pour from her fingers. Much to her displeasure, we like to say she’s a romantic at heart.
She is a breast cancer survivor who lives in Miami with her good looking husband, two adorable boys, three bulldogs, and two stray cats that she refuses to admit are hers (even though they live on her porch and she continues to feed them). When she’s not writing, she’s always lost in a book (the more suspenseful, the better).

About the author
Claire Contreras is a New York Times Best Selling Author who traded her psychology degree to write fiction. Don’t worry, she still uses her knowledge on every single one of her characters.
She was born in the Dominican Republic and raised in Miami (305!).
She’s survived Breast Cancer twice (because her boobs didn't think trying to kill her once was enough) and currently lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband, two sons, and her favorite child (a French bulldog).
Her books range from romantic suspense to contemporary romance and are currently translated into over twenty languages.
When she's not writing, she's usually lost in a book or at the movies.

I absolutely had no idea going in to this what to except the blurb and the title had hints. I feel like most royal themed stories have this dreamy feel. I really like that it was straight forward a past and then we get down to when they meet again. Adeline and Prince Elias definitely had an interesting first encounter, memorable even. As most royals do thry have duty and all that. Ellias has his share of reputation too. Meeting again they didn't quite see eye to eye. While it's rare one would be next door neighbors to royalty, Adeline can hold her own. She's a successful part planner her family isn't in the aame league but has their own thing.
What I find most intriguing is that Adeline's father isn't a fan of the monarchy. Elias as much of his duty and responsibilities isn't as well he has plans when he becomes king. This had a very forbidden affair with Elias and Adeline. It ramped up the angst. I truly felt their connection and it was sad watching thrm go through all that. But there was also swoony and steamy moments. You wonder through all that how will they make it work things were so against them. Also because Elias is soon to be king. Adeline's friends were supportive but also realists I'd say.
The Sinful King turned out to be thoughtful and realistic in the challenges they face. I appreciated the dialogue too between Adeline and Elias. She made good points to think of. I like the whole we aren't who are parents are aspect. It wasn't easy how they got to together but I rooted for them. It's good too breaks in tradition and it got lighter as it went on. Claire Contreras has a good royal storyline with her own twist and flavor to it. It was pretty easy to read, it had angst, heart ache, swoon and steamy.
Prince Elias, future king of France, was know as a playboy when he and his brother were spending their summers partying in Marbella. Their only time away from the media. But during his last free summer while his fathers health was decaying, he meets the girl he had a one night stand with 5 years prior. He became torn between the daughter of the man who was known to be against the monarchy and his duty.
Adeline Bouchard grew up everywhere, but her main home was in the states in Connecticut and her getaway home in Marbella where he family was. After getting her degrees, she moved to London where she owns her own event planning business with her mother. But after a scandal, she goes back to Marbella for the summer to get away from the tabloids. While there she agrees to help her uncle while he travels, which included helping with his bookstore and the villas her family owns. She was ready to leave her troubles behind until she finds out the villa she needed to deliver baskets to every night was rented by the charming prince she spent a night with a few years prior. A man she could never have but couldn’t forget.
What will happen with them both staying in villas right next to each other all summer? With all the tension still rising from a few years ago? While they survive this without breaking the other? Will he stick to tradition, and let her go for good? Or while they both risk it all and get their fairytale ending?
I loved these two from their very first meeting, even if by the second meeting someone *cough* Elias *cough* was very moody. In the end, well about half way through it, Elias starts to stop being such a grump and starts showing his emotions and feelings for Adeline. I could read this over and over again! It was such a quick read {for me at least}. I can’t wait to counting this series!
The male protagonist cares about and respects females. He’s not a party animal. He has healthy relationships with people who are intelligent.
The characters have fun dialog and caring interactions. The sex scenes are typical for the genre but have a bit of spunk to them to keep them interesting. Secondary characters are likable. Setting details add to the story.
What I didn’t like:
The romance is rather quick after the characters reconnect. Wish there had been a few more dates and dialog scenes where they get to know each other.
The female protagonist has a scandal that’s pretty serious. It seems to disappear too easily.
There is profanity and it is tiring.
There are a few grammatical errors.
The female protagonist is too subservient to her mother but not the queen???
The pacing is quick and makes the complications seem too easily overcome.
For adult readers who love a fairy tale set in a modern world with a prince needing a Cinderella, this book will definitely fit the bill.

Loved the playboy prince angle, and the serious commoner.
The suspense and mystery was well written as were the steamy scenes.
Overall a great book.
