This was a good, solid beginning of both of a magical world, and an exploration into the hearts and souls of wonderful and relatable characters. This story will draw you in.. The main character will share her anxieties, her emotions, and her passions with the reader. And this modern fantasy world stands alongside others all on its own. I can't wait to see where this series goes next!

First.. its really a 4.5 star review. Half a star for minor grammatical irks.

I always appreciate when an author can fully immerse me in a story. So when, at the end of chapter 2, I cringed for the Nth time and wanted to punch Nic for touching *me* AGAIN... I knew I was hooked.

Zonia Lin has done an amazing job of giving us a world where you can believer that magic is real, and even the least self-secure of us is more than we believe. Yet the story isn't laden with magic spells, incantations and suspension of disbelief..
This is because, while there is a great (fantasy? urban fantasy?) story here.. it is wrapped in an even greater journey into the complexities of love, self worth and romance in a polyamorous relationship.
Honestly, that's probably my favorite part. The characters are real and relatable to me, and they are not only treated kindly in their characterizations, but they are also NOT rushed through their growth for the sake of the story.

Final thought-- read this book. There are Fae, Gods, trolls and at least one moment when you wish the good guy/gal would pull the trigger and end the idiot.
And the best thing is that there is still soo much more to uncover.

I am always a lover of fiction and this book definitely gave me everything I wanted in a fantasy story. The characters are engaging and make you want to learn more about them, the story was easy to follow but also exciting.
I tend to get distracted when reading some books but not with this one!

A very well written first book. I enjoyed the authors take on fae lore and it was refreshing to read about characters (Max, Dom and Seph) who not only cared about each other but displayed what a healthy poly relationship should be. I look forward to reading the next book!

I admit I am not the brightest bulb in the pack. I struggled with the story for the first several chapters. I enjoyed the plot line and the characters were intriguing. Found it a bit annoying that information or background was hinted at from time to time, as if to flesh out the scene.. but really added nothing. The erotica was titillating, but not sure it was necessary. I believe that these two authors will grow together and continue to refine their art. With all my criticism.. I am going to re-read this first book one or maybe two more times.. and can hardly wait for the 2nd one.

This is a wonderful book. Persephone the main character invites the reader into a world so much like our own and then introduces us to so much more....magic! I couldn't put this book down! All of the characters are fully realized and very lovable. You will root for Persephone from start to finish. No spoilers but, I thought that the twist was quite clever indeed. I have not read a book this good in a long time. A gorgeous debut novel! This author is a true talent and I cannot wait to see what she comes up with next.
