Enjoy the View (Moose Springs, Alaska Book 3) Kindle Edition
The award-winning author of The Tourist Attraction turns up the charm with this sweet, laugh-out-loud story about:
A grouchy mountaineer
A determined Hollywood starlet
A love-sick marmot
A gorgeous Alaskan wilderness
And a journey neither will ever forget.
Former Hollywood darling River Lane's acting career is tanking fast. Determined to start fresh behind the camera, she agrees to film a documentary about the picturesque small town of Moose Springs, Alaska. The assignment should have been easy, but the quirky locals want nothing to do with River. Well, too bad: River's going to make this film and prove herself, no matter what it takes.
Or what (literal) mountain she has to climb.
Easton Lockett may be a gentle giant, but he knows a thing or two about survival. If he can keep everyone in line, he should be able to get River and her crew up and down Mount Veil in one piece. Turns out that's a big if. The wildlife's wilder than usual, the camera crew's determined to wander off a cliff, and the gorgeous actress is fearless. Falling for River only makes Easton's job tougher, but there's only so long he can hold out against her brilliant smile. When bad weather strikes, putting everyone at risk, it'll take all of Easton's skill to get them back home safely...and convince River she should stay in his arms for good.

I enjoyed the first two books in the series more because of the story and characters. I could relate to Zoey and Lana more, and it took me longer (past 50% of the book) to feel a connection to River. My favorite character in the book was Ashtyn, Easton’s twin. She is a “take charge” woman who is confident, independent, resilient, and strong. On the outside she is tough and resilient and suffers no fools. On the inside, she is compassionate and cares for others, especially friends and family and also towards the people she helps and rescues.
Enjoy the View is book three, with Easton Lockett as the star local and River Lane as the tourist. Met Easton in book one, of course, and he is the local star tracker and mountaineer. River is an actress – the ‘tourist’ – that everyone thinks is out of her comfort zone. Little does anyone know that she is right in her element.
These two have quite the adventure! There’s a climb up Mt. Veil that Easton is leading and River is documenting. REALLY simple explanation but both these characters learn a lot about themselves in the process. Of course, they learn a ton about each other, too. I was dismayed, at times, with River’s refusal to take Easton’s warnings and advice seriously enough; she sometimes put her film above safety and caution. I will admit, I was Team Eason all the way.
More Moose Springs characters show up again and there is much solidarity, love, teasing/torture (depends upon how you look at it), and (I’m going there) bull-headedness to go around. And let’s not forget the hilarity…I’ll just warn you to look out for the marmot. OMG, absolute craziness!
Loved this story and will preorder the next book. Really funny voice and heartwarming story.
Easton Lockett is one of the greatest characters - so funny, stoic, caring, considerate...really all the things I want my 6ft 6, bearded, man bunned, mountaineering men to be. He loves his family and friends and his job - you can tell how much when you see him in his element, in the mountains sharing Mount Veil with other climbers.
On the flip side of Easton, you have River Lane...possibly one of the worst characters I’ve ever read. She’s inconsiderate, bossy and driven to a fault, all of which made me dislike her even more. Her insistence on putting her career and the documentary above her own safety and the safety of her team and guides really rubbed me the wrong way.
I was so disappointed that he fell in love with her, went along with her whims and gave her way more leeway than he’d give other people because he couldn’t see past what he wanted to, couldn’t see the selfishness that was an essential part of her character. Getting through this book was a slog - River made me want to DNF before the story really began and my hopes that she would grow and become someone worthy of Easton kept me going. Sadly, it just left me feeling upset about Easton’s decisions.
Ultimately, I think I would have preferred it if Easton and the marmot got together in the end. I wanted so much more for him and think he deserved better than River Lane. Really hoping Ashton’s story gets this series back on track.

River is an actress desperate to be relevant. She’s not getting gigs anymore saying she’s too old. So she’s going to try her hand at producing. And she finds herself in Alaska trying to film a documentary about a small town called Moose Springs. Although the town hates outsiders and won’t let her film anywhere. What is she supposed to do?
🗻
Easton is driving on a large stretch of road when he sees a lone female with a large suitcase. She’s miles from any town so he pulls out to give her a lift. Only she yells at him! Before he knows it, he’s agreed to help him and he’s holding a pizza box. He never could’ve known how the act of stopping by her would change his life.
🗻
River wants to film Mount Veil and climb “The Old Man” and Easton is her guide. There’s lots of climbing and adventure, man buns, screaming marmot and the craziest days of their lives.
🗻
At the beginning I disliked how rude River was expecting everyone to bow down to her and her project. I liked her friends Jessie and Bree. This definitely makes me never want to mountain climb, I will happily read about it from the safety of the couch. Although I do like hiking.
🗻
The marmot seriously- believe it or not this was a love triangle trope that involved a marmot.
🗻
I really liked this book and could see it play out as a movie. It had a sweet romance. Closed door/tent.

Such a person is Easton Lockett, a bearded buff ’n’ gentle dude who is your go-to guy when it comes to the survival of the Alaskan wild. After actress-turned-producer River Lane is rejected by the town residents to film a documentary of Moose Springs, she hires Easton to take her and two of her team members up Mount Veil. Though this mountain is certainly for advanced climbers, River refuses to walk away from this challenge. Determined and fearless, she is ready to kick some serious mountain ass!
Forced proximity does wonders in a romance, doesn’t it? While most of the story takes place on a cold, snow-packed mountain, you can bet that Easton and River’s chemistry between each other makes for great warmth, tension, and a fair share of almost-kisses. Sarah Morgenthaler was able to write two characters who shared so much angst that I needed to pound my chest from hurting so much. I liked River and Easton together. Though they are seemingly polar opposites, deep down they are truly alike: their drive, quick wit, passion, and vision for life.
Like the previous two books, I thoroughly enjoyed this slow burn closed-door romance; it was steamy in its own way. All three women in this series are women who have such strength and tenacity. I hope you adore cutesy feel-good romances because his one is a welcomed treat!
Book 1 stays my favorite, but River and Easton were also a nice couple to read about and the mountain climbing topic/ scenery was a nice new setting for these books.
I laugh so hard about all the marmot scenes. This was too good :)
There were not many to long parts and it was a easy but cozy read.
I would love to go back to Moose Springs for a forth book!
I laughed, I cried, and I dealt with my heart in my mouth so many times and even read with just one eye open on occasion because I thought I couldn’t take anymore. I was fully convinced not everyone was making it to the end of this book.
Sarah is super talented. Her books leave me a little bit speechless. I can’t wait to see what she does next.
