One summer changes their lives forever…

Alex Ellison is well-educated, rich and good-looking. Too bad the ingredients of success haven’t mixed too well for him and instead of having the world at his feet, Alex has, once again, landed himself in a hot mess of trouble.
The community service his father arranges for him in a wildlife center on the other side of the country comes as a bit of a nasty surprise, though. Being shipped off to middle-of-nowhere, Oregon, is not Alex’s idea of the perfect summer vacation.

What Alex never expects is to meet Noah Price.
He never expects to be noticed and understood.
He never expects to feel valued and special.
He never expects to fall in love.

Everything is not what it seems, though, and love that feels invincible turns out to be anything but.

But love finds a way, and when Alex and Noah unexpectedly cross paths years later, they will have to risk it all for the love they both deserve and so desperately need.

Rare is a standalone MM Second Chance romance about first loves, one perfect summer, one debilitating secret and finding your forever.

Briar Prescott is a work in progress. She swears too much, doesn’t eat enough leafy greens and binge watches too much television. It’s okay, though. One of these days she'll get a hang of that adulting thing.

Probably.

Maybe.

She hopes.

I’ve read several of Briar’s books and I liked this one the best. It is a simple love story with just enough twists and turns to make it interesting and enjoyable. Love the characters.

I really do enjoy the books written by this author. I think this is an earlier novel, published before she has really mastered her craft. This story deals with some heavy topics but doesn’t delve too deeply so the reader isn’t given the chance to feel the true angst the characters are supposed to have felt. I liked Alex and Noah and enjoyed reading about how quickly they fell in love in their youth. I felt that so much was left to my assumption. The topic of the LGBTQ’s community and the ability to donate blood was very interesting.

So I gotta say that I learned something from this book that I never knew and honestly probably would have never known if not for this book. I mean thanks to Noah, I learned more about donating blood and why certain people can't do it, due to their sexual preference and within a certain timeframe.
Anyway, I didn't think I was going to love Alex at all in this book but by the end, I loved how well him and Noah worked together. He was a spoiled rich kid with no resposibilities and no consequences until now. He's forced to live Oregon to work on a farm but little did he know he'd meet the love of his life, who would change his life for the good. Noah and him had some sweet moments and it broke my heart when they separated. I get why Noah's mom was overprotective but at the time, she needed to let him live his life and make his own mistakes. Alex got her to open her heart a little bit towards it. I'm also glad him and his dad made up and opened some eyes at the same time. I liked this book and the characters in it, especially Hannah. She's a Hoot!!

I loved this book. I loved the two parts that for some reason some others did not like. I enjoyed this one. Noah was a rare find for a messed up teenager. Both boys grew to be what both men needed in each other. The ride through Rare was a good one. I listened/read this and the narration was great. I still don’t get why Iggy just didn’t narrate the whole thing. It was weird having Alexander come in halfway though the book. NOT A FAN OF TWO NARRATORS IN MM BOOKS!!

This books is told in two parts.
1st part is when Alex and Noah are teenagers and meet for the first time.
2nd part is 10 years later when they reconnect.
1st part I loved seeing the two of them connecting and falling in love. With the 2nd part I needed a whole hell of lot more groveling from Noah and not such a fast reconnection. Overall a good read with a HEA.

It started off good ... Maybe not perfect, but good. When part two started, in some ways the M/C's seemed to still be 18/19 years old, instead of a decade older. Lots of immature actions/words etc. I wasn't aware of the blood type portrayed in the book, but reading the authority notes at the end, I am happy to hear that blood donations are getting better/easier for the LBGTQ community. Overall, I liked this book, but no complete love for it.

This is the second book from the author. I loved Project Hero and was hoping the second book loved up to the standards I had. It did. Alex and Noah were a great couple. To have such strong feelings after so long apart! I wasn't sure what Noahs secret was. I had a few guesses and I was wrong. The secret was one I had not read about before and I liked it.
The only problem I had was with Noahs mom. I did not like her at all. The way she treated her own son and Alex and the pressure she put on him??? Not cool. I would have liked both Noah and Alex to confront her about this. Instead it was ignored. All in all I loved this book and can't wait to read more from this author.

This review is my own and I volunteered to read and review this book.

So many emotions ripped through me while reading this...my heart broke for young Alex...then the thrill of young love...followed by devastation....then hope...and full out everything love...and an education with something I was not familiar with. I went into this carefully knowing something was going on with Noah and without a spoiler... I had to know it wasn’t a fatal condition. My curiosity was piqued and I was a little afraid of where it was going....I wanted to be prepared if this headed into heavy territory.
I have to say I love Alex...his one liners had me laughing out loud even if born of defensiveness. The reunion is beautiful...and yes, I cried. As adults Noah and Alex were certainly relationship goals. This is 2 for 2 by this author and definitely shows her scope of talent.

Kept waiting to see how their lives would diverge and reconnect. I loved the premise for it. Won’t spoil it, but thoroughly enjoyed this story.

10/10 for this book
Not only is the story so cute and great, but the topic on hand is so very important that I can't emphasize enough that the author is completely right in his opinion.
To the book itself: I really liked how the story played. No toxic masculinity and they each respected the boundaries of each other. It was not too long until they got together and the story wasn't unrealistic.

I like this easy going readings and I started to read LGTB books since I started my transit when my kid announced that he kind of identify more as a boy than as his assigned sex. I learn a lot since then and in this book I learn about this really unfear law. In fact, I looked for information about it because it looked impossible for me that it existed since we all know that you are more easy to get aids in a sex relation our days if you are hetero then if you are gay and more sensible about the need of profilaxis. Incredible but it does exist this law!!!

Oh now I get the name of the book. Noah was amazing, it was sad a lot of people made decisions for him even Alex at one stage. It was a real fascinating story as the information in the story was real. Alex and Noah are in my top 10 as perfect couples, they laugh, they talk things out, they not perfect but perfect to each other. The two parts were needed in this story. It was really a well written book. I would of like to of known if Alex and his dad fix their relationship though. Give it a read, amazing.
