I really enjoyed all these short stories by all these various authirs. Some were authors I have read and some were very new to me. I am glad I got the chance to read them as I will definitely be looking for their books now. This was a good starter book to pick up and read.

Mystery Follows Her is an excellent collection that I enjoyed. I especially liked Buried By The Beach by Ellen Jacobson. The Mollie McGhee series is one of my favorites and Mollie has her hands full looking into the mystery of the Calico Jack Emerald. I also think Sarah Biglow’s Treasures in Heaven was a great story, with Chaplain Margot Quade seeking the truth behind an interrupted confession.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I struggled to get through this collection. I found the first story rather depressing so I skipped to the second one. The beginning of that one was so slapstick foolish that I quit reading it as well. I was on vacation and wanted to read something I thoroughly enjoyed vs. trudging through mediocrity. I let my mom borrow it and she said she really liked it. So, decided to give it another try. I forced myself to finish the first two and then made my way through the rest. A few were decent but most were a bit clumsy with stilted dialogue and over simplified plots. I was actually relieved to finish it.

A selection of clean short read mysteries. All clean and basically free of violence. Each was a stand alone but lead into other books if the readers interest was piqued. A few of the stories take place in Italy and involved places and terms unfamiliar to me which detracted a little but still nice reads. Suitable for young readers as well as the more mature ones.

For the purposes of my review, I only read one of the stories that is in this anthology. That story is "Thanksgiving and Theft." I will, however, read the rest of them at my leisure because frankly, cozy reads are usually fun and easy reads. Each story will take an hour to hour and a half to read.

"Thanksgiving and Theft" takes place...around Thanksgiving...in a quaint neighborhood in Toronto, Canada. The main character, Lois, is transported back into memories and nostalgia when her and a friend are thrust into a mugging in the near-by park.

The two ladies incorporate a third into amateurish sleuthing using visual techniques they have picked up along the way.

It is rather obvious who the culprit is but this reader could not help but wait for the older ladies as they come to conclusions.

It was a fun story, a bit repetitive, but overall just enough of a cozy to not get overwhelmed with the whole anthology. I kept rooting for those gals the whole way. That will teach those rotten muggers to mess with some old ladies!

I recommend this book if you just want a quick read at a time.

4 stars.

Each was a stand alone but lead into other books if the first has you wanting more.
The characters are well developed, interesting and likable in every book.
Lots of twists and turns with the mysteries. Quick reads.
A great way to try out new to you authors. I bought several books from some of the authors since reading this book.

I loved that all the heroes were women. The stories were interesting, smart, fun, and unique. I really enjoyed them. I will definitely read more of the authors in this collection. I liked the variety of settings in different parts of the world.

This anthology of cosy mystery short stories is a collection of very different stories, each linked to a cosy mystery series featuring the various female sleuths. The stories provide a quick read and are very helpful to get an idea about the various authors and their writing styles. My favourite ones were “Mysteries of the stolen ring” by Beate Boeker, Aubrey Elle’s “Ring Gone ‘round the Roses” and “When the clock chimes two” by Adriana Licio, although most of the other stories were also very readable and entertaining. All in all you get a wonderfully light poolside read for your holidays at a bargaining price and may find your next favourite author along the way!
