Sticks and Stone, the third installment in the True Lies of Rembrandt Stone, continues the saga of time-traveling, former detective Rembrandt Stone. Once again, Stone is thrust back in time to solve a cold case. And as in the previous books, the trip is filled with intrigue, action, and a sometimes-confused Stone. Time-traveling has a few drawbacks because each time his reality has changed, and it’s hard to keep up when you don’t know what’s just happened in your new reality. This aspect of the series makes for a little levity in what is otherwise an intense story. Stone is evolving with each novel and becoming more self-aware. He’s not only seeing he has been a jerk, but he’s trying desperately not to be one in whatever reality he finds himself. Inside, the watch that affords him the time-traveling capability, are the words Be Stalwart. And, with each new adventure, he is proving those words describe the person he’s becoming. In addition, his faith is reawakening. While the details of his life change, dramatically, with each trip back, one thing doesn’t change – his love for is wife Eve. And no matter what reality Eve is living, there is always a spark between her and Rembrandt. Sticks and Stone, like its predecessors, keeps you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next, and there are a few heart-dropping moments where you can imagine all kinds of bad happening. It’s witty, funny, poignant, and a great mystery yet to be solved. Sticks and Stone is another excellent novel you don’t want to miss.

Goodness. I feel like Rembrandt Stone is ruining me for other books. Like, nothing compares to Rem ::que Sinead O'Conner's rendition from the early 90's:: Seriously, nothing compares.

I am just blown away by this series and book three, Sticks and Stones may just be my favorite yet. Susan May's voice is by far my favorite to read in the Christian fiction genre, and she has outdone herself with this series. The twists and turns of the plot leave me with nerves frazzled, but somehow desperate for more. The characters - oh the characters! I couldn't love Rembrandt and Eve more if I tried. I am rooting so hard for those two it hurts. I love the slow build toward faith in Rem's life. I love how natural it has been introduced. A phenomenal installment that left me desperate for book four. Need. More. Rem.

I'm loving this series! I think this installment is my favorite one yet.

Rem's going back to the past again to solve one more of his old cold cases. He vows not to screw up the timeline like he did the previous times he went back. He's just gonna solve a crime and catch a bad guy or two. Simple, right? Not so much.

This one had more romance than the previous books, but there was still a lot of action and suspense. And that ending has me so curious to find out what happens next. I can't wait!

What would you do if you could go back in your life and change a regret, a mistake, a moment you wish to re-do? That's exactly what Rembrandt Stone does in this series. Only he realizes that changing one thing in your past has repercussions that drastically shift the future. This is the third book in the series and they definitely need to be read in order to understand exactly what is going on. This series had me up late trying to see what would happen next and how it would all turn out for Rem and his wife, Eve. It's a phenomenal series and I can't recommend it enough!

I got my copy of this book at midnight last night, stayed up until 4 am reading it because I couldn't put it down, and still don't regret it this morning! I am now waiting impatiently for the next installment. Book 3 did not disappoint. The fast-paced, edge-of-your-seat action and the twists and turns of Rembrandt Stone's career and personal life as he travels through time will continue to keep you wanting more, I guarantee it. If you haven't started this series, grab all three books now and preorder the next one. Just be prepared to get nothing done and little sleep because you will not want to stop until you finish them all! Highly, highly recommend!

This addresses the what ifs. Intriguing, and the characters are well written. I highly recommend this book. Psychological who done it.

The continuing story of Rembrandt’s time travel is filled with gripping suspense, mysteries to solve, and moral questions begging to be answered. Like the rest of the series, this book also ends in a cliffhanger, but it does so in a way that you could take a breather before diving into the next one. I have some thoughts about the true killer and I look forward to seeing if I am correct.

These books read like episodes of a TV series that you binge rather than individual books. I’m glad I had book four on hand to continue the saga.

I received this book complimentary from a giveaway. I was not required to give a review. All of the opinions I have expressed here are honest and my own.

Found a couple of typos but intriguing story. It would be hard to know the past and future. Then to keep track of where you are in time and not over play your hand. Remington workaholic ethic, plus knowing the future in the past, helps him save some and lose others. Guilt and adventure plague Remington. Highly recommend this series.

Can't say enough about how much I'm enjoying reading about Rembrandt Stone and his time travel experiences.
Only negative is I wish the stories were longer, but alas, I shall have to be content even so 😜

4.0 out of 5 stars More twists and turns require focused reading!

Once again, Rembrandt Stone starts this story off caught in an unthinkable situation. One that he has helped manufacture through his previous adventures in the first two trips back in time. Hence, the absolute need to read this series in order, book by book.

And the twists and turns come thick and fast and not just for Rem. His other major combatants get some of the impact of Rem's adventures: Eve, Burke and Shelby. There's a lot going on in this episode that requires a focused mind to absorb and keep on top of it all. There were some moments when I got stuck and wondered which time zone and which episode we're in. Fortunately, the authors clearly understand this as they have Rem take moments out of the story to update what has happened which I found useful.

There's more romance in this episode that adds another layer.

The climax of the house fire is really well written and keeps the reader holding our breath. Who will live, die and what is the ensuing impact of those who survive?

This is a really good series. I like that each episode is relatively short and each ends with a different outcome making us wonder what's in store in the next one. This one I found just a little more complicated and struggled at times following it all.

Check the series out but do start with Book 1.
