2022 Carol Award Winner!
2022 Christy Award Finalist!
From the
Wall Street Journal, Amazon, and USA Today bestselling authors of the Tier One series and W.E.B. Griffin’s Rogue Asset comes a unique military thriller with a supernatural twist.

When dark forces rise, are faith and firepower enough?
On the eve of his medical retirement, Navy SEAL Jedidiah Johnson receives a frantic call from his estranged childhood best friend David Yarnell. David’s daughter has been kidnapped off the streets of Nashville in broad daylight. The police have no suspects and no leads. The only clue: the body of a dead priest left behind at the scene. With the clock ticking, David is growing desperate, as is his wife, Rachel . . . Jed’s first love.

Despite his painful history with David and Rachel, Jed agrees to help. But he’s spent his career as a door-kicking Navy SEAL, not an investigator. His presence immediately draws unwanted attention, creates friction with the local police, and triggers a mysterious attempt on his life. Just when he thinks things can’t get worse, it starts to happen again—the voices in his head, the nightmares, the visions. Dark memories and strange abilities, things he believed he’d left behind when he fled Nashville for the Navy at eighteen, begin to resurface.

Jed realizes that to save the missing girl, he must take a leap of faith and embrace the gifts he’s denied for all these years. To foil this dark intercept, he’ll need more than just his years as a SEAL operator, because he has no choice now but to take up arms and join the battle in the unseen spiritual warfare raging all around him. And there is far more at stake than just a missing girl: the world is not the place he thought it was—and he is not alone.

Follow the military heroes of The Shepherds series as they bring the power of light into the dark mystery of Sara Beth’s abduction.

Yes, something very, very strange was afoot in Tennessee.

Yes, something very, very strange was afoot in Tennessee.
Dark Intercept, by Andrews and Wilson, is a really engaging and suspenseful tale of a recently retired Navy Seal who agrees to help his former childhood friend and his ex-girlfriend rescue their kidnapped daughter. Jedidiah may have the skills to attempt a rescue, but maybe not. The child is... special and there is something strange about the kidnappers as well.I am not typically a reader of “Navy Seal”, “Spy” or those Action Thriller books, but when a friend described its plot to me I just had to check it out. The description reminded me of the fundamental elements of the 2001 Matthew McConaughey movie Frailty, but with Navy Seals. Luckily my local library’s OverDrive account came through for me. I found the book to be quite well written with good pacing and realistic dialogue, for the characters. I’m happy to see this book listed as #1 in the Shepherd Series, meaning I can look forward to more, but I would really like to see it picked up by a company that could turn it into a movie or series, and do it right.

This was a interesting story with the common theme of the seals. It was interesting to see how a religious theme was intertwined. Will read the next book.

Cool concept! Entertaining and generally well written, the only time it falls off is when it veers into tech-bro descriptions of gear - such dialogue loosens the narrative tension.

As I started this book it was a bit disjointed and for lack of better word… boring… but if you hang in thru the 1 st half of the book it becomes a really good book. It also sets the groundwork for future books. All in all a good book that started slow.

This Andrews and Wilson Shepherds series debut is the very definition of good versus evil. Navy SEAL Senior Chief Jedidiah Johnson, a man with an intentionally forgotten past is on the verge of retirement as a door kicking terrorist hunter when everything changes.

Retirement from twenty years of military service is something that everyone looks forward to who has spent time in the military. Not needing to jump into a career right away and finding your own niche with your free time was the plan until a young woman is kidnapped, and she is part of a family that he knows well. Being drawn back to the place where he grew up, with friends he hasn’t talked to in decades, family he hasn’t spoken to in a while, and at a place where his life was changed by a freak encounter with something that is not of this world, you can bet he isn’t excited about the trip.

This debut is dark and thorough, and as a faith-based thriller, it has the competitive juices to compete with A&W’s amazing Tier One series. The faith portion of this thriller is not an overpowering in your face religious service, it’s about how your faith can empower you and give you the strength to accomplish things that you might not have thought possible. The action is good, support characters are complex enough and intriguing enough to aid the story and create conflict as well. If you’re looking for something a little less hard hitting than the Tier One series but with the clever and dynamic writing from A&W give this one a try!

3.5 This book was not what I was expecting when I read the synopsis before purchasing. It is about God and faith without being about religion, which I enjoyed. The plot, though, was not well developed, and the characters felt flat. I found it to be somewhat slow, and it never really grabbed me.

This was a fast-paced thrill ride from start to finish. It starts right in the middle of a military operation, which was very exciting, but it took me just a minute to get my bearings. Once I did, though, I was fully invested and speeding through the pages as fast as I could.

This book deals with spiritual warfare, which I always find to be a fascinating subject to read about. There were quite a few intense and goosebump-inducing moments, but I found them to be a powerful reminder of the ultimate battle between good and evil.

I really enjoyed this book and am very much looking forward to continuing the series. I think it would appeal to fans of Ronie Kendig's military thrillers and Rachel Dylan's Windy Ridge series.

Just a side note, there's a little bit of language here. Not too much, but if that bothers you, this is just a heads up.

Just like in the tier one series, this venture provides plenty of action, but with a new twist. This "new" threat is somewhat seen, but mostly unseen. This new enemy is hardly new. We have all encountered him. He is the monster under the bed, the thing that goes bump in the night, the spectre that pops in and out of the shadows. And he doesn't fight fair, which then require both brutal force and a deep faith to combat him. Hard to put down!!

Ever wonder about good and evil? Why do “normal” people do unspeakable deeds? While the story is fiction, it pertains to life & it was a fun read.

4.0 out of 5 stars Interesting perspective on spiritual warfare in this suspenseful action story!

This is my first Andrews & Wilson story and it's very good. The pace is fast from the get-go, the storyline very interesting, with believable characters and a really thoughtful fictional take on spiritual warfare.

Jed Johnson is a recently retired SEAL who is called back to Nashville, a place he hasn't returned to since leaving it under difficult personal circumstances 17 years ago. And it's his old friend, David Yarnell, who was a participant in those circumstances all this years ago. They haven't spoken since but David believes only Jed can save his 12 year old daughter, Sarah Beth.

Sarah Beth is gifted. With a spiritual gift of discernment and being able to 'see' evil and communicate with her mother, Rachel, simply through thoughts. It's fascinating to read and I'm pleased the authors have used these giftings in a fictional story.

Sarah Beth has been kidnapped. By evil. Led by dark supernatural forces that is similarly interesting to read.

It all makes for a compelling story. It's been set up well for a series and I really look forward to reading more of it. Jed is a good character, vulnerable while being a trained killer. And the Shepherds, the spiritually-led army are interesting and I'm looking forward to getting to know them more in the series.

Clever writing, good pace and action with a fascinating perspective on spiritual warfare makes this an enthralling series.

I read the Tier 1 series, with superman Dempsey, which was a fantastic series. This book, the first in the series, was a book of two half’s for me. The first half I thought was a little slow and drawn out, but then the later part of the book was full of action. This series is very different to the Tier 1 series, with this one being more supernatural. I would say 4.25 out of 5 from me. I will download the next in the series though.
