No Ordinary Day: A Post-Apocalyptic Survival Thriller Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 1,496 ratings

When the man hired to kill you saves your life, do you owe him a favor?

Emma’s got a full plate: prepping her testimony before Congress, working a temp job at a research lab, ignoring the nasty looks when people learn she’s a whistleblower. When a power outage strands her in a work elevator, a handsome stranger is all-too-ready to help.

If the grid collapses, does your mission change?

John might appear like an average good guy, but underneath, he’s a seasoned killer. Hired to snuff out an unsuspecting whistleblower, he’s more than prepared to handle a little blackout.

The apocalypse makes strange bedfellows.

With limited communication and chaos unfolding outside, Emma and John forge a tenuous alliance. Will the pair survive the end of the world as we know it, or will nothing stand in the way of a hitman’s mission?

The EMP is only the beginning.

No Ordinary Day is book one in the No Ordinary Day series, a post-apocalyptic thriller series following ordinary people struggling to survive when an EMP plunges the United States into chaos.

Definitely not an ordinary day ...the beginning of this novel was filled with truly unexpected events which start this story off with a jolt.

The premise of this novel was outstanding. Emma, the scientist, has a date to testify at Congressional hearings. Yes, indeed, she is a whistleblower. The information the author presented concerning Emma's upcoming testimony was truly unsettling...

Toss in John with lots of military experience in Afghanistan and the story takes a decided turn... The issue of trust is brought to the surface. And, the question also arises about depending on someone if your life is in danger. The addition of Holly, 16 years of age, adds a new perspective from that of a teenager. Felt she contributed to the story with her ideas, too.

As is the norm with this author, the novel is well written, characters are down to earth but problem solvers and the pace is fast....which I love. And, Tank ....what a dog...loved him, too.

A favorite author of mine and she doesn't disappoint in this one. Looking forward to reading the second one in this series...

Most highly recommended.

This is a pretty decent apocalyptic survival book. The addition of a hired killer was an interesting one which added to the novel. It's an easy read - I read it in one evening, but enjoyable. There is no foul language, the violence is enough to add tension, but not so graphically described as to be disturbing, and adult situations (of which there are very few) are handled in such a way that a younger teenager could read this book. You come to care about the characters and the evolution of one of them is really quite good. All in all a good read!

Disgustingly good! The character development is outstanding. The mix of action and tension perfect! The story pace is absolutely amazing.

Harley knows how to write a good story and it disgusts me how good she is (in the best way possible). ;)

An enjoyable read. All of us in the book and the reader begin to see what a destroyed world looks like, acts like. And it’s terrifying. Seriously contemplating a garden come Spring of 2022! I’ve already decided that prepping is most wise! And, I look forward to seeing how our characters manage to survive!

I liked this, not gonna lie, although it falls a little bit on the romantic/slow moving end of this genre's spectrum. :) sweet story, thoughtful characters, & a story that moves forward without too much conflict or violence.

A new twist on CME aftermath. Tate is actually easy to read. You don’t have the feeling that you need to speed read halfway through the book. Spent a lot of time In Atlanta and in Blue Ridge. I recommend the first book in this series.

Read the 1st book, got halfway thru the 2d before giving up. The writing is good, characters are well developed, but no one could be as clueless in a major CME aftermath as everyone is depicted. "I don't believe _ fill in the blank" no matter that someone just shot/stabbed/robbed them. Once, possbly. Twice, faintly possible. Time after time? It got to the point that belief no longer could be suspended. If you enjoy complaining that NO ONE could be that blind, this is the series for you. If not, give it a pass...

No Ordinary Day is so easy to read. This is a book full of everything, an assassination a hitman travelling with the very person they have to eliminate and an EMP. What else could possibly added to make this book any more interesting? It's an amazing book and well worth reading.

The characters are likeable and seem to be well thought out. I am really looking forward to the next in this series. It’s a different twist on the usual post apocalyptic tale.
