On to the Next Thing: A Memoir on Crime, Choices, and Change Kindle Edition

4.7 4.7 out of 5 stars 39 ratings

"4 out of 5 Stars. Engrossing and earnest, On to the Next Thing is an insightful and positive journey through an empowering personal philosophy."  - Brenna O'Hara, Reedsy Discovery

Entertaining true crime meets an encouraging spiritual awakening.

Having the right mix of encouragement and entertainment, Corbin Bosiljevac's memoir gets to the heart of an extraordinary story told by an ordinary man. When questionable choices, addiction, and mental health consume his existence, the yearning for something larger becomes imperative.

This is a true story about a man's struggles through a time in his life when choices led him astray. From college graduate and Fortune 1000 salesman, to black-market drug dealing, crime emerged as an every day event. Illicit drugs and illegal commerce became profitable and daunting, while the danger of these activities began to creep closer by the hour.

With federal prison as the catalyst, there was a chance that he would not recover. Being a fearful time, the crippling anxiety overshadowed any hope that he had left. But his life was rebuilt with a new foundation. These changes did not come easily or quickly, but anything worthwhile never does. This is truly a story of redemption.

"On to the Next Thing" is an exceptional read about not giving up on life no matter how far you have fallen. Our individual journeys do not necessarily unfold as we have planned, but it is our experiences that shape our time. These experiences during this time are his story.

I enjoyed this story about a “boy” from our hometown who’s family were also acquaintances of ours. Cory was just a little older than my daughter and they were also friends. This story goes to show how a person can get caught up in a lifestyle and it takes a hard lesson to change a course. I have a family member that went through much of what he went through and was incarcerated in the Leavenworth camp as well. The stories in this book are so familiar to me. I’m proud to know that Cory was able to turn his life around and come back home. It’s an inspirational story about second chances.

“On To The Next Thing” is a fascinating, well written but sad story of a life gone wrong because of the lure of drugs, money and power. It opens up and exposes a world most of us know nothing about, drugs,
the prison system, and those who live and work there. It is a story of redemption written with clear eyed clarity, regret and optimism. It is a story of how important love, family support, forgiveness and continued friendships are to success and recovery. I wish Corbin a long and wonderful life surrounded by those who love him. That is more powerful than all the riches in the world.

This book was fantastic!

Very easy read that keeps you entertained and inspired by Corbin's true life story of the bellows of his downfall to the soaring heights of his redemption. The wisdom that transpires from the hard reality of addiction and the spiraling out of control lifestyle leads the reader to an intense and exciting federal prison stay spanning the course of several years. Here is where the heart of a man is reborn in his faith, family and most importantly himself.

I highly recommend "On to the Next Thing." It is a truly an awe inspiring story!

This book made me think, which is one of the highest compliments I can give a book. I gained a perspective on the criminal justice system that I hadn't ever considered before. I did have a bit of a hard time following the story sometimes with the flashbacks, and there were some grammatical errors that were distracting. That being said, I am glad I read it, and would recommend it to anyone who likes to read heartfelt memoirs of people whose experience differs from their own.

This book tells the story of bad decisions followed by true redemption. All of us make mistakes, and Mr. Bosiljevac made many. What makes the author exceptional is how he worked to atone for his mistakes, and how he was able to rise above them and once again become a very important part of society.
Well written and thoughtful, this is a must read for those who need a dose of inspiration in their life!

I enjoy the writing style with storytelling between the prison time, flashbacks to good times and bad times, and the other facets of people and spirituality that were rediscovered as what is important in life along the way. Very open and revealing personal stories, motivational, and entertaining. I look forward to adding this to my hardback book collection and following the author as he moves on to the next thing.

This book is inspirational and well written. Corbin articulates his experiences in a down to earth and easy to read way. I recommend this read to anyone who is interested in the shady dealings of the dark underground world of drug dealings, only to massively learn that life can be beautiful if you listen to what it has to teach us. Thank you for this.

An inspirational story about a guy who lost his way, but came back stronger and healthier. I've known Corbin since we were teenagers and it was tough to read about the experiences he had in his young adult life, but his ability to write in a way for me to really feel his experience was a mazing. It's a story about adversity, self-reflection and honesty.
