Farview (Greynox to the Sea) Kindle Edition

4.6 4.6 out of 5 stars 147 ratings

Ravaged by a horrific experience, Oliver Webb flees the smog-bound city of Greynox for a quiet seaside village and the inheritance he’s never seen: a cottage called Farview. He discovers clear skies, friendly imps, and a charming storyteller named Felix Corbyn.

With help from Felix’s tales, Oliver learns surprising secrets about his family history and discovers what home really means. But with Felix cursed, Oliver growing deathly ill, and an obligation in Greynox hanging heavy around his neck, it seems that not even wizards can save the day.

Still, as Felix knows, stories are the best truths and the most powerful magic. Perhaps the right words might yet conjure a chance for happiness.

***Winner of the 2021 BookLife Prize for Fiction***

"A rich, lightly-fantastic tale of the causes we choose to fight for, the battles that come to us unbidden, and what it means to impart dignity in life and death. Though it's not heavy-handed, Fielding gives us a resounding treatise on justice, contentment, and what we all deserve."- Fiona West

"But it's the sparkling, limpid magic of Fielding's writing that will draw her readers in - her gift of creating a sense of place and emotions so vividly real that readers raise their eyes from the page as if emerging from a dream....
Farview is storytelling of the highest order; from the very first page, any thought of disbelief is happily suspended as we joyfully plunge into Oliver and Felix's world." - The BookLife Prize

" Oh how do I love this story. Let me count the ways." - LoveBytes

"This book was magical, poetic and haunting altogether..... It is a definite must-read!" - Paddylast Inc.

"Aside from the beguiling love story and the fantastical world, Fielding weaves a seamless subplot about seeking justice and honoring what's right and true. Add in Felix's enchanting tales every chapter or so, incredible imagery, and truly lovable characters, and an absolutely joyful twist at the end, and you have yourself a book you'll devour and re-read over and over." - S.C. Principale, Paranormal Romance Guild

About the Author

Kim Fielding is the bestselling, award-winning author of over 60 novels and novellas. Like Kim herself, her work is eclectic, spanning genres such as contemporary, fantasy, paranormal, horror, and historical. Her stories are set in alternate worlds, in 15th century Bosnia, in modern-day Oregon. Her heroes are hipster architect werewolves, housekeepers, maimed giants, and conflicted graduate students. They're usually flawed, they often encounter terrible obstacles, but they always find love.Having migrated back and forth across the western two-thirds of the United States, Kim calls California home. She lives there with her family, her cat, and her day job as a university professor, but escapes as often as possible via car, train, plane, or boat. This may explain why her characters often seem to be in transit as well. She dreams of traveling and writing full-time.

Kim Fielding is very pleased every time someone calls her eclectic.

Winner of the 2021 BookLife Prize for Fiction, a Lambda Award finalist

and three-time Foreword INDIE finalist, she has migrated back and

forth across the western two-thirds of the United States and currently

lives in California, where she long ago ran out of bookshelf space.

She’s a university professor who dreams of being able to travel and

write full time. She also dreams of having two daughters who fully

appreciate her, a husband who isn’t obsessed with football, a cat who

doesn’t tromp over her keyboard, and a house that cleans itself. Some

dreams are more easily obtained than others.

This was my first book by Kim Fielding, but OMG, certainly not my last. LOVED IT FROM COVER TO COVER! :)

This is a slow-paced fantasy romance between two men, each cursed. It's about loneliness and family, stories and truths, existing versus living, and doing the right thing. There are imps and storms and illness and fae, and while I enjoyed Treasure (and we get to see those two again), I liked this one even better.

This is a wonderful sequel to Treasure. If you haven't read Treasure you will still enjoy this story. I am in love with Olly and Felix and I want imps!!! Felix's stories were so good. I read Treasure when it was a part of a Goodreads m/m story event. Actually read it twice. This author has an a way with words, imagery, and romance that grabs you and doesn't let go. Thank you for taking me back to this world. Can I have another, please??

This is my second Kim Fielding book, the first being Rattlesnake. Each book is very different but both enjoyable. With Farview I dove right in, not aware it was a fantasy, which is not my usual genre. I suspended disbelief and went along for the ride. Kim is an excellent storyteller, the same as her character Felix. I loved the world she created and was quickly attached to the characters.

I devoured this book in one day. I love, love LOVED it. Oliver and Felix are delightful, the story is absolutely captivating, and I am enamoured with Farview. Will try to write a more coherent review later , but right now I am basking in the afterglow.

A beautiful love story told in a gorgeous fairy tale style. Felix and Oliver are an absolute delight surrounded by mythical creatures and lots of storytelling.

Kim Fielding has outdone herself with this.
The story is comparable to Patricia McKillip in the sense of place and wonder that she evokes.
Beautifully written with hugely engaging characters.

Heartwarming story of Oliver, who inherited a cottage near a fishing village. He's heartsick and ill, and believes he is ready to die. Fear not! (spoiler alert) There is a happy ending.
