Boyfriend: A Moo U Hockey Romance Kindle Edition

4.3 4.3 out of 5 stars 2,847 ratings

The hottest player on the Moo U hockey team hangs a flyer on the bulletin board, and I am spellbound:

Rent a boyfriend for the holiday. For $25, I will be your Thanksgiving date. I will talk hockey with your dad. I will bring your mother flowers. I will be polite, and wear a nicely ironed shirt…

Now everyone knows it’s a bad idea to introduce your long-time crush to your messed-up family. But I really do need a date for Thanksgiving, even if I’m not willing to say why. So I tear his phone number off of that flyer… and accidentally entangle our star defenseman in a ruse that neither of us can easily unwind.

Because Weston's family is even nuttier than mine. He needs a date, too, for the most uncomfortable holiday engagement party ever thrown.

There will be hors d'oeuvre. There will be faked PDA. And there will be pro-level awkwardness…

Boyfriend by Sarina Bowen started as a novella and I was the happiest bookworm when I found out it was being turned in to a full length standalone novel! Seriously- The HAPPIEST!Weston is everything. He is funny and easy going and protective and likable and and…you get the point. That says like-able by the way. Not lick-able. Autocorrect says that’s how you spell it but it looks weird so I thought I would clarify that although you will probably think Weston is lick-able, I was in fact saying that he is like-able. Get your mind out of the gutter!Gail, I mean Abbi, (that’s an inside joke. You’ll have to read it to find out why that’s funny) was brave and determined and hard working and alone in the world. What starts as a fake date arrangement turns into more. These two are so cute together. I love their singing and how they lean on each other so easily. This book is hands down a highlight of 2021.#WestonIsMine #ICalledIt #AskSarina

Boyfriend is part of the Moo U series, set in Sarina Bowen’s World of True North. It was originally released as a novella introducing the Moo U hockey players in the series, but is now a complete standalone novel. And that’s the best thing that happened in 2021, because it is glorious.

It is a rent-a-boyfriend/fake relationship that evolves into a friends to lovers and friends with benefits love story. And the cherry on top? Only one bed. And it is that seamless transition between tropes that makes this story so great and unputdownable. It just flows so naturally.

Weston and Abbi are great together. Their chemistry is incendiary, their banter is hilarious and good-natured. There’s so much attraction and longing. And heat! So much heat! It’s simply perfection.

Weston is such a great guy. He’s adorable and sweet and hot. He’s swoony. And his inner monologue is hilarious. He’s just not boyfriend material. Or so he thinks. His parents’ divorce did a number on him, so he’s definitely against commitment.

Abbi hasn’t had an easy life. She’s smart and funny, extremely dedicated, and so strong. She’s determined to graduate college a year early and be independent. Her family situation is not a good one, so she’s mostly on her own.

The way Abbi and Weston start their fake relationship is so funny and well done. And the way they connect is even more so. You can feel the longing and the chemistry between them from the very beginning. It’s sweet and heartwarming. The way their relationship evolves is so flawlessly developed that it feels natural and you can’t help but root for them. But it’s not only the attraction that grows stronger between them, but all the feelings. You can see how they get to know each other, how they slowly expose their hidden vulnerabilities to each other, and how their feelings start to change.

Boyfriend is such a great story. It’s beautifully written, and perfectly paced. There’s lots of Vermonty and hockey details that make it shine, and all the feels that make it an emotional and lighthearted read. I loved everything about it and I highly recommend it.

Two great main characters! Start out with a couple of fake dates and develop from there. No big angst or tragedies, just a fun story.

"Mr. Smooth has left the building."

Fake relationship, friends-to-lovers in the Moo U world? Couldn't read Boyfriend fast enough!
Abbi is a hard-working college student, with two part-time jobs and a very hectic schedule. The hockey team has a regular table at the bar where she works as a waitress and that's where she meets Weston. She has a big crush on him but she never acted on it until Weston hangs a very interesting flyer on the bulletin board.

Weston is a focused hockey player, likes to keep his life fun and drama-free, doesn't do relationships and he's very upfront about it, hangs out a lot with his teammates at the bar where Abbi works and he's a great guy. He's very funny and easy-going and he avoids going home for Thanksgiving. That's why he puts up the "Rent a boyfriend for Thanksgiving" flyer.

At first, I was a little worried about Weston being a womanizer or something like that, but he wasn't like that at all during this book. I was surprised by how upfront he was about not wanting relationships and his reasons made perfect sense to me. He was so sweet, thoughtful and funny! Abbi was great too! Super hard-working, funny, sweet and strong. I loved them both! It was hilarious how Weston behaved at first with Abby, he was rambling and not his usual cool persona. So funny!

These two were amazing together! The chemistry was there from their very first interaction but the emotional connection was there very early on too. After meeting each other's families while fake dating, at the beginning of the book, they were so emotionally honest with each other which felt very refreshing. I enjoyed a lot how long angst their story was, even though it was unexpectedly emotional. The low drama just fit perfectly considering Abbi and Weston's personalities and I loved how natural their relationship progression felt.

Boyfriend was a cute, sweet, funny, entertaining and steamy read, with fantastic characters, so many funny moments and amazing chemistry. I loved it so much! It's now my favorite in the Moo U series and it can be read as a standalone. Highly recommend it.

This was a fun read. I liked the characters, and their chemistry right from the beginning. It was a bit predictable, but in a comforting way, so I didn't mind. The audiobook was well done, making it all the more enjoyable.

Well this was completely sweet and charming. I loved the banter between Weston and Abbi and how much fun they had together. Weston turned out to be such a caretaker which was a little unexpected and I just adored it. There were moments my heart hurt so much for Abbi but their relationship always made me smile. This was a solid and enjoyable read and I'm always happy to be reading another Sarina Bowen book.

Abbi and Weston's story was so nice to read, their fake dating starts slowly and then they build up to real. Development was good, and their third act break up was not emotional and heartbreaking, which for me is a very good point. I recommend.

Imagine having a fake boyfriend/girlfriend for the holidays. The characters were wonderful, like I have come to expect from Sarina Bowen. Lots of fun and ups and downs that had me misty eyed and smiling.

Whaouh. I loved it. Weston is the perfect boyfriend. And Abby is so hard working and nice. Together they really have fun even if they have also to deal with hard times in their respective family
Even the epilogue is funny. Thanks for this book.
