Malicious Intent is another incredible must-read romantic suspense novel by Lynn H. Blackburn. She continues to create the perfect balance of romance and suspense in her books, which many other romantic suspense authors struggle to do well. From her previous Dive Team series to this Defend and Protect series featuring the Secret Service, Lynn H. Blackburn has remained one of my top two romantic suspense authors, along with Irene Hannon.
Lynn H. Blackburn is a master at creating characters who readers can connect to and action-filled plots that keep readers fully invested in the storyline until the final page. Malicious Intent can easily be read as a stand alone novel, but this series is so good that I recommend starting with book 1, Unknown Threat, so you can meet this fabulous group of Secret Service agents.
Longtime readers of Lynn H. Blackburn may appreciate that I have been a huge #TeamGabe fan (from her Dive Team series). After getting to know Secret Service agent Gil Dixon in this novel, now I think I may be #TeamGabe and #TeamGil!
Malicious Intent is highly recommended for fans of inspirational romantic suspense. I can't wait for book three!

Captivating story
Gil Dixon is a Secret Service Agent who has multiple fields of expertise, one of which is counterfeit money. His current case will take him to the headquarters of a woman, Ivy Collins, who stole his heart fifteen years ago. His task is to discover where the money came from and who is making it. He can’t believe Ivy is involved, but the money was passed at her company’s fundraising carnival. He arrives at her home to find her pointing a gun at him! The story continues with more action and a renewed romance, at least on Gil’s part. He isn’t sure if Ivy wants to be in a relationship with him.Ivy Collins didn’t have an easy childhood. Her mother was selfish, only looking out for her best interests. Ivy and Gil fell in love one summer, but her mother’s actions caused Ivy to leave and cut off all communication. Now, she is a successful bioengineer who owns her own company that is researching and creating prototype prosthetics that can be controlled with the brain. However, someone wants her password to her company’s computer files. Are they after this new technology? Gil arrives in time to save her from further torture when she refuses to give up the password. Now, Gil and his team are out to discover who hurt her and why as well as keep her safe from continued attempts on her life.One of the things I like best in these first two books of the series is the close friendships between the coworkers. The people they work with are more than just coworkers; they are family. They have one another’s back and are willing to drop whatever they are doing if one of them is in need. One thing I didn’t like was Ivy’s continued voicing of her independence that made Gil’s job much more difficult and made him feel bad for doing his job. I felt in her situation that continued assertion wasn’t believable. I did like Gil. He was a strong, thoughtful, caring man with a strong faith in God. There was a reappearance of some of the characters in book one, Unknown Threat. I enjoyed catching up with them. I look forward to Zane and Tessa’s story in the next book.
