This novelette employs stark realism unflinchingly. I'm giving it an extra star for this and for its originality. It's a story about young adults who are unhappy with their lives (for good reason) and merely have vague dreams of better lives. There is romantic love, but there is also a lot of crude language, a bit of racism and prostitution, a lot of anti-Semitism, and some violence. Prospective readers be warned. Spoiler alert: not recommended for readers who need a happy ending.

"I Think I'm Jewish" is a stark yet powerful coming-of-age story. Through vivid imagery and introspective narration, the author immerses us in protagonist Sanford's complex inner world as he grapples with identity and belonging in a small town. Sanford's candid journal entries reveal a lost soul-seeking purpose. His unique perspective challenges assumptions about religion, relationships, and society. While sometimes unflinching in its realism, Sanford's profound personal evolution and search for meaning make for a compelling read. This evocative book will resonate with readers long after the final page.

The author uses a lot of imagery and diction which helped me visualize whats going on much more vividly. I really enjoyed Sanford's journey and was thrilled the whole way through. Highly reccomend.

Author does a great job really setting the scene up for you. I felt emotionally invested in the main character’s journey and had a hard time putting the book down. I give this book two huge thumbs up and would recommend it to anyone who enjoys a good story about a lost soul.

I liked the talent of writing and method. But the story was not intriguing to me. I think that was a personal preference and not necessarily a ding on the book or author. Just not for me…. You should read and let me know.

This book has a unique and interesting journal style where the author dives deep into the heart of small-town dynamics, where religion and identity intertwine in unexpected ways. The protagonist, Sanford, finds himself in a unique environment that challenges his beliefs and perceptions. The author's candid writing style paints a vivid picture of the characters. Their individual tales are not just mere subplots, but rather powerful reflections on human nature and society. It is a truly powerful and thought-provoking book that stays with you long after the last page. Highly recommended!

The story "I Think I'm Jewish" explores Sanford's internal conflicts over identity and belonging. Sanford's diary entries' unvarnished honesty subverts social mores and presents an engrossing story that stays with the reader—a compelling examination of the search for meaning and one's progress.
