Really enjoyed Reed and Holland's romance. This book holds you firmly in its fierce grip with a story that is rich with emotion, drama and tension. That means you can look forward to plenty of feels and powerful heartstring tugging moments. The chemistry between these two is electric, the heat steamy, and the tempting hint of the forbidden adds a tantalizing splash of angst. Altogether, this is a sinfully seductive romance that gives your heart a workout, sends your temperature soaring and then leaves you basking in the swoon!

3.5 stars, this was a really good read, but rated it lower because of the errors.

Reed and Holland (and Evan’s) story was really sweet and had plenty of steam. Holland is Reed’s sister’s, Emery, best friend. They all grew up together and Holland has always been secretly in love with Reed.

Reed is a reformed playboy, thanks to becoming the legal guardian to his half-sister’s child, Evan. He trusts Holland to help take care of Evan while they travel for away games.

Of course, they fall in love and experience a few bumps along the way, but get their HEA. It’s a sweet, quick story.

As for the errors…I feel like a writer should know the difference between your and you’re. And there is a sentence in the book that I can’t make sense of. At the beginning of the book Holland’s dad has dementia, then later it’s Alzheimer’s. The story also seems to forget Evan’s existence while they’re getting it on in the hotel rooms. I find it hard to believe that a 3-year old that just lost his parents would sleep well in a hotel after such a huge change, but that’s just the parent in me.

4 Stars

This book needs another edit, one more really good edit and I'd give it 5 stars.

Hockey Romance (light on the hockey action)
2 smut peppers (for infrequency not lack of quality)
Surprise Single Dad (adoption of siblings child)
Sisters BFF Hidden Romance
HEA

Holland is in love with her BFFs older brother and has been basically forever but BFF had been burned by girls trying to be her friend to get to her brother so many times she makes Holland promise to never! Ahh the promises of children. FF to adulthood and low and behold Reed realizes his sisters BFF is HOT but he knows he shouldn't go there because she will be M A D. It's cool, they'll just keep being friends. Until one night Reed gets a call that his half sister (who he doesn't really know) has died and left behind a 3 year old boy that has no other family. It's either Reed takes him in or into the system he goes. I mean, is there even a choice? But now Reed needs someone he trusts to nanny while he plays hockey...see where I'm going? Yep! Holland is willing to help out. Oh now they're spending more time together and decided they don't want to not hook up so they make up rules. No falling in love, no telling anyone else, etc. Again...you see where this is going?

Anyway, blah blah blah. HEA. It's a pretty good story! I'd recommend reading it if you can get past the editing issues. Actually the only thing that REALLY bothered me was the hockey team being the Avalanche even mentioned NHL but they live in Chicago. At least change the team name to something made up if you're going to not use the team name that actually plays where you set your story.

This was one of my top reads this year so far! I absolutely LOVED Reed and Holland so much, and let's even add Evan to that mix too.

Reed is a pro hockey player faced with becoming the guardian of his nephew when his half sister is tragically killed. He turns to Holland, his little sisters best friend, for assistance. Reed's family grew up next door to Holland so he already has a close relationship with her and her father. He sees the struggles she is facing but she won't accept his help so he propositions her to go on the road with him and help with Evan.

Holland has always looked at Reed in a special way but never said anything because her best friend, Emery, who is Reeds sister, has always told both of them "hands off" so to speak. But once Reed starts seeing her that way the tension rises and they can't keep apart.

Reed and Holland are absolutely bliss. They are so sweet together and have such a natural flow and energy to them, that comes from knowing each other so long. Once Reed starts to realize how his life has chanced with both Holland and Evan, it's magical.

I feel like magical dust was sprinkled into this book. I was easily able to site down and fully consume it so quickly. I loved the little peak at teammates of Reeds we got, and can't wait to see what could be in store for them as well.

This book was a bit too rushed for my taste. It's like the details of their relationship were glossed over and not given the proper amount of time to really gel in my imagination. It was more brothers' best friend than single father trope, which was fine with me, but it wasn't as angsty as I prefer.

Reed and Holland grew up as next door neighbors, and he’s her best friend’s older brother. When Reed unexpectedly becomes the guardian of his 3 y/o nephew, Holland steps in to help and the two quickly develop feelings for one another, starting as a friends with benefits deal but becoming much more. Low angst, mid-spice, fun read.

They agree to keep it simple and follow rules. They should have known better that nothing in a relationship is simple. Holland and Reed are great together.

I absolutely loved Reed and Holland, oh and Evan was just the cutest!

I loved Reed when we first met him in The Newspaper Nanny so was excited when I found out his story would be the first book in a brand new hockey series!

If you love friends to lovers, sisters best friend, boy next door this ticks all those boxes and more!

Reed's life is about to change in a blink of an eye.

His Hockey career is going well, he is very close to both his mum and sister but has pretty much zero contact with his father until he gets a call that will change his life forever!

Suddenly he is guardian to the cutest little boy called Evan after his mum (who happens to be Reeds half sister) and his Dad are both killed but Reed needs help!

Holland has a lot going on, but she will always be there to help Reed, he can just never find out that she has a massive crush on him and has done since forever!

There chemistry is sizzling!  What starts of as casual quickly develops into much more!

I could not put this down and I am excited to read more books from Maren.

Reed didn't see himself ever wanting a family. He was happy with his hockey and the many women that throw themselves at him. But one phone call from his estranged father and his life will never be the same again. He finds himself as a guardian of his half sisters little boy after her and her husband are murdered, even though he has only met her twice. Reed enlists the help of his sisters best friend Holland.
Holland has had a crush on Reed for years but would never do anything about it because of her friendship with his sister and the fact that he was so out of her league.
What starts out as a arrangement with set rules soon becomes so much more.

4.0 out of 5 stars Reed Davidson is SWOON worthy!

This book was… wow.
I’m such a sucker for hockey romance books!

This one is a best friend’s brother, newly single dad hockey trope.

“𝑭𝒂𝒍𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒈𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒕𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒆𝒆𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒍𝒅, 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚’𝒓𝒆 𝒏𝒐𝒕 𝒘𝒓𝒐𝒏𝒈. 𝑩𝒖𝒕 𝒊𝒕’𝒔 𝒂𝒍𝒔𝒐 𝒔𝒄𝒂𝒓𝒚. 𝑻𝒉𝒂𝒕’𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒏𝒐 𝒐𝒏𝒆 𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒃𝒐𝒖𝒕. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒗𝒖𝒍𝒏𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒃𝒍𝒆, 𝒓𝒂𝒘 𝒑𝒂𝒓𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒚𝒐𝒖’𝒓𝒆 𝒑𝒖𝒕𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒐𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒓 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏’𝒔 𝒉𝒂𝒏𝒅𝒔 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝒑𝒓𝒂𝒚𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒚 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒘𝒉𝒐 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒂𝒓𝒆.”

Reed Davidson, professional NHL player, was living a typical bachelor lifestyle, until one phone call changed everything.
Despite being a hockey player & his schedule already keeping him very busy. Reed takes it upon himself to become guardian of his half sister’s son, Evan.

A nephew he never even knew about, he wasn’t close with his half sister. Reed knows nothing about taking care of a kid all on his own.
Evan shows up & turns out he suffers from night terrors, after calling everyone he knows & not having one person answer his call. He calls the only other person he can think of.

“𝑰’𝒎 𝒔𝒖𝒅𝒅𝒆𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝒍𝒖𝒔𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒂𝒇𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒎𝒚 𝒍𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒍𝒆 𝒔𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒆𝒓’𝒔 𝒃𝒆𝒔𝒕 𝒇𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒅.“

Then comes, Holland Parker, the girl next door. Who works as a librarian.
She’s always lived next door to Reed & his family. She is his little sister Emery’s best friend. She has always had a secret crush on Reed for as long as she can remember.

“𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝒔𝒆𝒄𝒓𝒆𝒕 𝑰’𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒉𝒐𝒍𝒅𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒏 𝒇𝒐𝒓 𝒔𝒐 𝒍𝒐𝒏𝒈 𝒊𝒔 𝒕𝒉𝒂𝒕 𝑰, 𝑯𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑷𝒂𝒓𝒌𝒆𝒓, 𝒂𝒎 𝒓𝒊𝒅𝒊𝒄𝒖𝒍𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚 𝒊𝒏 𝒍𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝑹𝒆𝒆𝒅 𝑫𝒂𝒗𝒊𝒅𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑰 𝒉𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒔𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒆 𝑰 𝒘𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒊𝒏𝒆 𝒚𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒐𝒍𝒅, 𝒘𝒂𝒕𝒄𝒉𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒉𝒊𝒎 𝒔𝒂𝒗𝒆 𝒂 𝒌𝒊𝒕𝒕𝒆𝒏 𝒇𝒓𝒐𝒎 𝒂 𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒆.“

Holland agrees to an arrangement of going on the road with Reed whenever he has hockey. So that she can keep Evan company as he’s taking a liking too her.
The chemisty/sexual tension between Reed & Holland is hard for them to ignore once they are around each other so often.

Therefore, they come up with a plan. A on the road only plan, so strings & rules to follow…..
Rule number 1: Don’t fall in love.

And most certainly, do NOT let Emery find out.

“𝑵𝒐𝒘 𝑰 𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒛𝒆 𝒘𝒉𝒚 𝒔𝒉𝒆 𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒕𝒐 𝒑𝒖𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒔𝒆 𝒓𝒖𝒍𝒆𝒔 𝒊𝒏 𝒑𝒍𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒏 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉, 𝒐𝒏𝒍𝒚 𝑰’𝒎 𝒂𝒍𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒅𝒚 𝒅𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒆𝒓𝒐𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒚 𝒄𝒍𝒐𝒔𝒆 𝒕𝒐 𝒃𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒌𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒕𝒉𝒆𝒎.”

Let’s also not forget the steamy scenes…🔥
Reed really knows how to please a women, good lord.
He has officially become another favorite hockey book boyfriend
