Born and raised in the Central Valley in California. My husband and I met when we were still in High School. We were married a few years later. We lived in Oregon while he was in the US Coast Guard. After living in Hill Country, Texas for eight years we have made the big move to East Texas. We spend our time with our two teenage sons at all their events, screaming from the stands, as they swim their hearts out!

Kia has been ignored by her husband Handles. He's a member of Nasty Bastards and is their lawyer. 10 years ago he saved Kia and they married. Now he hardly ever comes home. She decides she's going to celebrate her birthday alone. She leaves the state. The guys in the MC are settled down now but Handles still thinks he can do any club girl. I wanted to scream at him. Kia decides to leave him. Everyone is on his case. This book had me on the edge of my seat throughout. I was on Kias side the whole time. You have to read this book. I don't like cheaters but this book is very well written. Hayley I would love to give it 10 stars.

Kia was way to forgiving toward a creep that did not deserve her. Her choice is her business but she did not make him work for it even a little bit. It's sad. I could never be ok with being disrespected and betrayed the way Kia is throughout this entire book and there is no way I'd ever trust that cheating, disease carrying pig of a husband again let alone bear his children. Seriously, for 10 years she rated as less important to him than a constant string of trashy easy women. I watched my mother go though that and swore I would never allow myself to be on treated that way. I would walk and never look back. I'm the first to admit that I hold grudges. If I were Kia that pitiful excuse of a husband would have been dead to me the first time he touched another woman and he certainly never would have touched me again. Once a cheater, always a cheater.

There's so much internal dialog that I started skipping paragraphs. Parts of the MC don't make a whole lot of sense. They're loan sharks but have no tech wizard in the club. Even when they figure out that they're seriously in need of a computer wizard, they don't go looking for one.

There is so much lip licking I started thinking maybe chapstick should be a sponsor. Seriously, page after page, someone is always licking their lips. A distant second is lip-rolling. Who does that??

I was so happy that Kia finally had enough and stood up herself. Talk about emotions all over the place. Wow! I thought I was going to cry through most of this book. Good characters and plot along with some action and suspense. So glad that Kia didn't just take Handles back and made him really work for it. He was just such an ass to her. Even with all the ups and downs this book was on that I didn't want to put down. Keep them coming.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have read every single book by Hayley Faiman and I feel that Start my Life is one of her top written books! The emotions each character felt just bled off the pages and I was crying before the end of chapter one!

Kia and Handles were perfect - messy but perfect! There love story isn't perfect but it hits you with all the feels. I could not put this book down and when I never wanted their story to end.

Handles was not a likable character at all. He was arrogant, cocky and selfish. He thought he could be married and have all the side pieces too. He really didn’t grovel to get a second chance with his wife. He didn’t want to change at all and I don’t think he’s capable of it.
The author has a favored word in this series. It wasn’t used as many times as the last book but still used more then needed.

Handles and Kia's story is soooooo heartbreaking! This book had me all twisted up and my heart hurt so badly for Kia. I stayed mad at Handles for most of it and then I was mad at Kia too. I think I felt just about everything a person can feel all in this one book. Start My Life is a great addition to the Nasty Bastards.

I wish Kia was stronger and felt more self worth. Her constantly whispering and rolling her lips aggravated me beyond belief. It's like HELLO girl stand up for yourself.

Handles was a fool that I still don't think will be true to his word. Mr. I have my cake and can eat it too. Seriously? It's like he just flipped a switch after 10 years and going to be faithful. Not buying it.

We need a heroine that is not afraid to beat some A$$ and stand up to her biker.

Would of gave a higher rating if there was less whisper and rolling lips, sorry but it was very repetitive.

I'm not even sure what to say. The FMC deserves everything she gets from her so called husband. Zero self respect. Quite unbelievable to be honest. Spoiler. I seriously doubt he'll be faithful in the future. He cheated for 10 yrs. She's pregnant now. I'm sure you can see where this is going

This one was a rough read for me. I enjoyed the storytelling and the outcome of the book but I absolutely loathed the hero. I just couldn’t forgive him and it bummed me out. I know this author’s books often contains cheating but she always manages to redeem her heroes. This time it didn’t happen for me.

I am looking forward to more in this series and hopefully I connect with the next hero better.

4.0 out of 5 stars A great MC book!
Reviewed in the United Kingdom on December 29, 2022
Just a note, if you want a MMC with morals and full of grovel then do not read! It’s more of him opening his eyes than any actual redemption. But remember, it’s fiction. This book does have cheating in it, the FMC knows it from the start but then comes to the realisation that she can’t put up with it any longer. At parts it did have me raging, but I reminded myself it is fictional. This is a purely made up world from the imagination of the author. If you want a book where the male character works for his redemption and grovels then this isn’t the book for you. It is a fast paced book which I actually really liked, it didn’t pull any punches but at the same time didn’t fill me with drawn out angst. Sometimes you just want to read a book without having your heart ripped out. This is a new author to me and I will definitely be reading more of her books.

3.0 out of 5 stars Best out of first three in the series

(There is cheating galore here so if you're too sensitive just don't read it)
Enjoyed it but it wasn't easy read. Really liked how the MMC was written, how he thought, how he couldn't uderstand what qas her problem... This was great.
What wasn't? The same as in other books: very short, rushed writing witjout going this extra mile and dighing a bit deaper. Just a superficial story writing, no detail in it.
All those books read like something written in a week. Wham bam, next please. Such a pity because I'm pretty sure author can do much better. Writing style is great, there isn't any background there...
