After earning a degree in musical theater and spending several years hustling on the business side of the film industry, Lisa Larsen has found her way back to her first love: performing. In 1994, my wife Sally (also an author) and I started Whole Heart Ministries, a nonprofit Christian ministry to help parents raise wholehearted children for Christ. After three decades of books, conferences, and online ministries, we're still writing books for Christian parents and families (and all of our children are now writers and authors, too). As a nonfiction author, I'm drawn to what I call "expository narrative" that is biblical, conceptual, and creative. As a fiction writer, I'm drawn to the beauty of language and words, and the power of the Christian imagination. I received an early copy of this book to review, and just like Sally’s other books, it did not disappoint. I always love reading Sally’s words of encouragement and now she and Clay have written a book to encourage us to pass along life giving words to our children. They weave stories together with scriptures in such an inspiring and helpful way. We as parents can glean helpful scripture-based, Biblically sound ideas to apply to our own families. I often struggle in my day to day life with using life giving words, even though I know how very important it is. I am so grateful to have this book at my fingertips (along with the Bible of course) whenever I find myself in a situation where I fall short. Thank you Clay and Sally!

It’s a book that you take in chapter by chapter, not a quick read. It wasn’t designed to be a quick read.
The first 1-2 chapters lay the groundwork so it takes a bit to get into it but I absolutely loved the wisdom that Sally and her husband share about giving your words to your family. This book along with Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson, have helped me understand motherhood and grow to become a better mother to my children.
