From the Back Cover

Shaping the hearts, minds, and souls of your children starts with your words.

As a parent, your heart's desire is to guide your children to love and follow God. Yet so many voices are offering help and advice. Whose voice should shape your children?

Sally and Clay Clarkson suggest the answer is as simple as it is powerful: yours. They will show you how to use your own words to shape your child's life for Christ.

The biblical principles and wisdom they offer, drawn from their years of raising four children and mentoring parents worldwide, will equip you as a word-giving parent.

Start here to gain confidence to personally and intentionally cultivate a verbal home, one filled with words of faith formation and spiritual nurture.

Then, when your children "take your words for it," they will hear God's voice.

About the Author

Sally Clarkson is the beloved author of multiple bestselling books, including Own Your Life, The Lifegiving Home with her daughter Sarah, Desperate with Sarah Mae, and Different with her son Nathan. As a mother of four, she has inspired thousands of women through Whole Heart Ministries and Mom Heart conferences. Sally also encourages many through her website, sallyclarkson.com, and on her popular podcast, At Home With Sally.

After earning a degree in musical theater and spending several years hustling on the business side of the film industry, Lisa Larsen has found her way back to her first love: performing. Lisa narrates from her home studio in the foothills of Los Angeles. When she's not embodying the characters of strong heroines, feisty teenagers, cranky old men, or alluring vampires, she's devoting time to her daughters, mucking up her kitchen baking healthy treats, riding her bike, or enjoying a DIY project with her husband.

Clay Clarkson directs Whole Heart Ministries, a Christian home and parenting ministry founded in 1994 with his wife, Sally. Clay is a graduate of Denver Seminary and has been in vocational Christian ministry most of his adult life. He is the author of Educating the WholeHearted Child, Heartfelt Discipline, and other books for Christian parents.

Giving Your Words
Having read most of the books previously written by Sally and Clay Clarkson, I honestly think this is their most beautiful! Sharing wisdom from the Scriptures and Jesus’ earthly ministry, the authors provide a wonderful resource for parents who desire to speak words of truth, life, grace and unconditional love into their children’s hearts and lives. I highly recommend this book!

I received an early copy of this book to review, and just like Sally’s other books, it did not disappoint. I always love reading Sally’s words of encouragement and now she and Clay have written a book to encourage us to pass along life giving words to our children. They weave stories together with scriptures in such an inspiring and helpful way. We as parents can glean helpful scripture-based, Biblically sound ideas to apply to our own families. I often struggle in my day to day life with using life giving words, even though I know how very important it is. I am so grateful to have this book at my fingertips (along with the Bible of course) whenever I find myself in a situation where I fall short. Thank you Clay and Sally!

In Giving Your Words, Sally and Clay share how they used words to form a foundation of faith for their children. Words have the power to heal or to harm. Their book directs the reader towards a biblical model of discipleship.

It encourages me to see how the Clarksons continue to be good stewards of the gifts God has blessed them with—sharing messages of faith and wisdom and fun along the way. It gives me hope in the midst of our parenting journey.

As a fun aside, Giving Your Words looks so pretty next to Sally’s Help, I’m Drowning on my shelf. The cover art is gorgeous!

“Words matter… words make things happen.” Sally and Clay remind us how important are the words we speak to our children. Their first words they learn from you, so how much more important are their next words and the words that will bring them into adulthood. Giving Your Words to your children will leave a faith legacy, precious treasures to be passed down.

This is another of Sally’s fantastic books, and I think the best by far. She and Clay wrote it beautifully together and give so much insight as to the power and value of the words we use with our precious children. I absolutely loved it and purchased a bunch for Christmas gifts! A MUST read for any parent.

It’s a book that you take in chapter by chapter, not a quick read. It wasn’t designed to be a quick read.
The first 1-2 chapters lay the groundwork so it takes a bit to get into it but I absolutely loved the wisdom that Sally and her husband share about giving your words to your family. This book along with Mission of Motherhood by Sally Clarkson, have helped me understand motherhood and grow to become a better mother to my children.
