Wow. This book is one that is going to stick with me for a very long time.
Kit fell in love with her brothers best friend, Ryker, when she was 14 and he was 16, and never looked back. Ryker grew up in a bad home environment and was always with Carter (Kit's brother) and Kit growing up. They were the two people he depended on and spent time with more than anyone else.
From ages 16 to 18, we see Ryker grow up and get on the right path so that he can graduate, go to college, and start a brand new life for himself. All of that changes in one night. Ryker leaves one night and never returns. Kit never hears from him again and her heart breaks.
Two years later and Ryker finally returns home, but Kit is less than thrilled to see him after he abandoned her without a word for so long. Ryker is left in charge of watching over Kit while Carter and Gerald (Carter and Kit's father) go away for business for a week.
That week changes everything between then. Are they able to get past Ryker's up and leaving? Will Kit get the answers that she has desperately needed for years? Will Kit be able to keep her suppressed feelings to herself and not fall hopelessly in love with Ryker all over again?
There are so many things that I can say about this book, but I don't want to spoil anything. The ending of this book is absolutely heartbreaking and absolutely exact to shed more than a few years. We learn all about love, family, and friendships throughout the book. Thankfully the book does end on a happy ending after having your heart ripped out and stomped on.
I will recommend this book to any and everyone! I can't even say how much I loved this love story, and not just the love story between Ryker and Kit.

In true Jenn fashion, went in blind 🤣 [its actually rare I read a summary of a book. Idk why. TOXIC 😂]This is a brothers best friend and Second chance romance. Forced proximity. All the feels.Kit was swooning over her brothers best friend Ryker when she was only 15 years old. After an event took place, Ryker fled town without so much as a goodbye. Years later, he comes back. And is asked to ‘babysit’ her while her brother and dad go away. At 18 years old she doesn’t need a babysitter but Kit has a health condition.One thing leads to another and well… some forced proximity and feelings that never went away come flying back between the two. But it turns out Ryker has some secrets of his own.First kiss on the cheek made her fall.But his second kiss….. quite literally brought her back to life. SWOON when you read it.I won’t hold back either, I did ugly cry at the end after the most heart breaking situation came about. 😭 I don’t think it requires a trigger but I’ll throw it here just incase.But all in all, MUST READ! Loved it!
