The Iron Keys: A Tale Of Emaneska (Emaneska Series) Kindle Edition

4.5 4.5 out of 5 stars 29 ratings

The Marshes of Efjar have never been conquered. The scholars say it is the inhospitable terrain, the mazelike bogs, or insects the size of a fist. But any warrior who's ever trod these lands know the true danger: the minotaur clans that call them home.

Twice the height of a human and fond of raw flesh, the Efjar minotaurs have repelled the Arka armies time and time again. It now falls to The Iron Keys – a famed regiment of the finest soldiers and mages – to put an end to the war. And for fresh recruit Farden the Written, it is his first glimpse of the terrors of Efjar.

Death awaits all who enter the Marshes.

———

This new short story is set before The Emaneska Series, and tells the tale of Farden and his role in the Efjar Skirmishes. For more from the dark world of Emaneska and to follow Farden's journey, read The Emaneska Series and Scalussen Chronicles.

Ben Galley is a British author of dark and epic fantasy who currently lurks in Vancouver, Canada. Since publishing his Emaneska Series in 2010, Ben has released the award-winning Scarlet Star Trilogy and The Heart of Stone, the critically-acclaimed Chasing Graves Trilogy and Scalussen Chronicles, and the new Bloodwood Saga.

When he isn't conjuring up new stories or arguing the finer points of magic systems and dragon anatomy, Ben terrorises the Canadian wilds, swills Scotch single malts, and snowboards very, very badly. One day he hopes to haunt an epic treehouse in the mountains and dole out side quests to passersby.

The Iron Keys is a short story that introduces Farden, a mage, and reveals a bit about the Iron Keys. It is packed with dangers and fighting between two groups of soldiers. I enjoyed it and am looking forward to reading more of the Emaneska universe.
