This is the second book of the series and while I wasn’t sure Kearl could top Bow Before - this one was even better!It picks up where the first book leaves off and the pacing doesn’t slow down. It pulls you through the story, never missing a beat and by the time you reach the end?? I’m literally begging for the next book! That cliff hanger?!I love seeing how much both Thane and Layala have grown both together and separately from the first book. She is a queen in every sense of the word!There is so much more world building and some amazing side characters like Tif and Leif who add just the right amount of humor and loyalty to the story.I wish I could read it for the first time again, but I will settle for just reading it again soon!- - - - - -If you haven’t read this you definitely need to check it out! This series is absolutely amazing. I love the small foreshadowing that gets your brain trying to find the connections and then bam!!! You have an amazing way of making the characters loveable and relatable. I love the relationships Layala has built but I think the way this book ends is perfect...completely makes sense and now I am itching to get to book 3!!

I got this book thinking this would be the last book, only to find out there will be a third.

The writing is fantastic. The book was good, it kept me on edge until we got to the last little bit where it seemed to drag on. There was so much unneeded things in the book.

The plot itself is good. The ending was not the best. We go through two books when Layala and Thane are mates and so in love, then we get to the end and she's the dark mages wife and they are reborn gods. I understand wanting to make things interesting, but it wasn't really needed. It was like there was this huge build up to killing the dark mage, just for her to wake him up and the last little bit seemed thrown in there. Don't get me wrong, it's a good story. And poor Tif is just forgotten about in a lot of the story. I'm not sure if I'll read the third book as I might not remember these books.
