- Reviewed in the United States on April 16, 2023I first discovered Blackberry Beach at my local library and quickly caught up from the beginning. But the thing I love about this series is you can definitely read them out of order. This story was no exception! The style of writing and believable characters warm my heart every time and I eat this books up in a day or two. I'm anxious for the next one in 2024!
This particular one in the series touched my heart more than usual. As a lover of the area this series is based on and as a Veteran's spouse who was in a similar ordeal as Jon, I got very emotionally invested in the outcome.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 7, 2024Loved this book as I have all the others. I’m a bit sad knowing I have only one more book to read in the series. So glad I met Irene Hannon. Now I have the delight of reading all her other series and stand-alones waiting for me.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2023Irene Hannon has given us another wonderful book. The characters of her books are so real they tend to be able to help us learn from not only their actions but their words. This story is reminiscent of a modern day beauty and the beast story. Ashley Scott is a historian and she has come to purchase part of a historical house in Hope Harbor. Jonathan Gray is a war veteran that lives next door and owns his own landscaping company. They both have suffered broken hearts. Will they be able to help each other heal and move on to a future together?
- Reviewed in the United States on April 4, 2023Irene Hannon is one of my favorite writers and I was excited to read her newest book Windswept Way, the ninth book in the Hope Harbor series.
Ashley Scott is taking a leap of faith when she reaches out and sends a letter to Rose Fitzgerald, a reclusive 80-year-old woman who owns a mansion in Hope Harbor. Ashley has an unusual proposal for Rose to preserve the history of her home and bring back the love and joy which inspired Edgecliff to be built. The huge undertaking to make renovations and restore the Edgecliff gardens, will take time, hard work, money, and compromise.
Relationships will be forged, not only between Ashley and Rose, but also with the grounds-keeper Jonathan Gray. A man who prefers to stay in the background. The wounds he bears from his military service are more than skin deep. Will Ashley look beyond his outward appearance and see the proven character of this man?
Reading a novel in the Hope Harbor series is like coming home to a friendly place where you want to stay for a while. I really enjoyed the main characters in this book. Ashley, Rose, and Jonathan were all dealing with their own feelings, trials, and history. The characters were likable and I enjoyed watching them grow, change, and challenge themselves.
I enjoyed seeing the return of some of the town’s people in Hope Harbor, especially Charlie, a wise and caring man who reaches out and, befriends all sorts of people. He makes time for everyone he meets. The town’s clergymen were back too. I would like to have seen a little more depth to their relationship and get to know the men behind the jesting.
Faith was a part of the story, but I would have liked to have seen more of it in the character’s lives. I appreciated that the novel was clean and without sexual immorality and profanity. I would have like to have seen Ashley’s mother further developed.
I enjoy reading Irene Hannon’s books and recommend Windswept Way, which is part of the Hope Harbor series. Hope Harbor is a beautiful place I’d want to visit and stay for a while. The people are kind and caring, and make amends when they fall short.
I would like to thank Revell Publishing and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a complimentary copy of Windswept Way by Irene Hannon. I was under no obligation to give a favorable review.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 8, 2023I'm the daughter of a WWII veteran, so Jon tugged on my heart as soon as he came into this story. Ashley is a woman after my own history heart, so how could I not adore this? Add Harbor resident artist Charlie, gulls Floyd and Gladys, and the elder lady owner of the manor with secrets worth their weight in gold, and there can be no better love on the horizon... AND my favorite Hannon wedding of all time! You Rock, Irene, and are still my fave Christian Romance writer of all time. Blessings! TK ^__^
- Reviewed in the United States on June 9, 2023I love Hope Harbor and only wish it were real. You’ll love Ashley’s and Jon’s story as much as I did. The path to true love is sometimes rocky, but when two hearts are engaged, the ending is never in doubt. Edge-cliff and Rose and Charley and the dueling clergymen add to the delightful ambiance and surprises to be found. Buy and enjoy!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2023Man looks on the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart. This love story epitomizes that verse. It is also a tribute to the courage of all our wounded warriors. It shows our need for human love and acceptance. We need more communities like Hope Harbor to love and embrace us at any age and any flaws. We all need God's grace.

Another fantastic trip to Hope Harbor.
Gosh I'd like to go visit that town and spend time there. This story captures your heart and makes you look at life through a different lens. You'll root for Ashley and then root for Jonathan. Fabulous story from Irene Hannon and there's another story coming to make Book #10 in this special series!

5.0 out of 5 stars What really matters
A book with a beautiful story line. A little slow at the start but once there a treasure unfolded about what matters and made the wait worthwhile .
A great story for those who suffer at the hands of society due to appearance .
God lions at the heart as should we, beauty is fleeting anyway as we age .

4.0 out of 5 stars I liked it!
Ashley Scott has taken a risk when she moves to Hope Habor on the Oregon coast, but she hopes it will pay off in the end.
Jonathan Gray is the landscaper that Ashley employs and he is not too sure what to make of her - at first, but as they get to know each other, he knows there's interest on his part more than just professionally speaking, but he's not sure he wants to take a risk with Ashley and it would be a risk on his part to go beyond.
I really enjoyed Windswept Way. Jon and Ashley both have to walk through obstacles and take risks to get what they both want. It was great to return to Hope Habor and meet up with familiar faces and meet new ones! This is part of a series but definitely, be read as a stand-alone.
